WWE Superstar Best Matches: Paige

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good and have had a good start to the week. So as you would have seen from recent posts I have uploaded, tweets I have made and articles all across the wrestling community, one of the biggest talking points right now in the world of pro wrestling is the much anticipated WWE return of former Divas champion, Paige. Rumoured to be doing so during last nights show I and many others were disappointed to see her not make a return to WWE tv. Now, regardless of the fact she did not make her return this week, Paige is set to be back on screen very very soon and she was backstage at RAW during last nights episode of RAW. With that in mind, today's blog post is going to be focused on the one and only, Paige, as I list her top five WWE matches so far.  I've been following Paige's career for a long time and she really has been apart of some brilliant matches in the past. One of the leading faces and the starter of the women's/divas evolution, regardless of what we have seen and heard about her personal life over the past year Paige is an incredible WWE superstar and ahead of her return I want to highlight some of the amazing things she has done and been a part of during her run with the company so far. vs Emma

The first match we just have to talk about is, of course, her one on one against Emma where the two competed to become the first ever NXT Women's champion. I remember this being one of the first NXT matches I really paid attention too. I wasn't a loyal NXT fan back then and I was only really watching here and there but a friend told me to check it out and still being in school, when I got home I went and gave it a watch and honestly felt inspired. This was the first time in a very very long time I was able to watch a women's match and really enjoy it. We as fans were being given a match from the then divas division that was all about the wrestling. This was a case of two women who both desperately wanted to be champion and you could feel their passion and drive. At the time we hadn't seen women compete at this level in what was nearly a decade and it was a breath of fresh air. The crowd was completely split with half backing the dancing Emma and the other the Anti Diva Paige, this was a fantastic contest that started something new and fresh in the women's division. It was also the night that saw Paige crowned one of the youngest champions in WWE history.

vs Sasha Banks

Throughout their careers, Paige and Sasha Banks have stepped in the ring against one another on numerous different occasions. Unfortunately, we are yet to see them collide in an epic bout up on the main roster but I'm sure that is something we can expect to see very soon. However, the two have gone one on one in a brilliant encounter back when they were apart of the NXT roster. A pretty important night, it was after losing this NXT Women's championship match that we saw Sasha Banks turn heel and the start of her Legit Boss persona. The two women competed in what was an athletic, brilliant pure wrestling match that showcased both women's skill sets massively. It is one of the more underrated matches and a match that isn't spoken about half as much as it should be one to seriously check out. It was the first time inside a WWE ring Banks stood out on such a big scale and was an insight to just what was to come once the WWE gave her push and sent her off in the direction she needed and deserved. It also highlighted Paige to be a fantastic champion ready to face any challenger of any skill and experience level.

VS Natalya

One match that I have touched on previously in other blog posts is Paige's NXT Women's title defense against the current Smackdown LIVE women's champion, Natalya. A pretty underrated match, I haven't seen a lot of people talk about this bout over the years but it remains one I strongly recommend to people and still find myself going back and rewatching. Still very fresh into her WWE career and NXT women's championship run, Paige was out to prove herself as a WWE talent and a champion and in this match, she did just that. Prior to this, we had seen her go one on one against the likes of Summer Rae, Sasha Banks, and Emma but there was something different about this particular match. Facing a true veteran in Nattie, Paige was provided with a competitor of a much high level. Matches with women who had a little more experience than she did Paige held her own perfectly and the pair delivered what was a fantastic ten-minute match up. Watching this the match did feel longer but that really did go to show just how well these two used their time. We got to see the experience from both women, good chemistry and wrestling skill that highlighted these two as two of the best in-ring workers in the women's division. The match itself did wonders for both Nattie and Paige with one showing just how underrated they are and the other showing exactly what they have to offer and the potential they possess.

vs Emma (NXT Arrival)

The match considered by many (including myself) to be the start of the divas/women's evolution, Paige VS Emma at NXT arrival was a highlight not only of their careers but a highlight for the entire division. The event as a whole was history making but as these two women stepped in the once again they proved that the females of the wrestling world were capable of so much more than they had ever been given the chance to show. We had seen both these women go face to face before this particular match and that too was another fantastic showcase from the pair but this one just about topped it. The live crowd in attendance were completely invested from start to finish and you could feel the passion from that crowd and the two women throughout. Both Paige and Emma set out to prove a point on this night and they did just that. The match was full of great storytelling between two women who respected each other but did not like one another. The spots were well executed and for the first time despite a strong, fast start, Paige was the one who had to play catch up. Emma was the dominant force in this match throughout and proved herself to be more than just a fun dancing character. From the powerbomb to the near finishes, all the way to Paige introducing her new submission hold this was so clearly a fantastic fantastic bout between two up and comers. It was the match that changed women's wrestling but also a brilliant entertaining contest you should all go back and rewatch!

vs Nikki Bella (Main Event 6/1/15)

One of Paige's standout feuds up on the main roster has so far been against Nikki Bella. The two spent the first half of twenty fifteen at each other's throats colliding in several ones on one and tag team matches throughout the course of that time. However, there their singles bout on an episode of Main Event in January of that year was by far their best match. A highlight match of both their

careers it was also one of Nikki Bella's best performances throughout her run as champion. It was here she spent a lot of time in control dominating this match and the time they were given meant that Nikki was finally able to show the extent of her in-ring work, knowledge and move set. Her power was on great display as was her passion and character. Paige of course yet again brought experience. She too was greatly passionate throughout this match desperate to reach a WWE Divas title opportunity once again. Her wrestling skills were on show perfectly but she was able to adapt and show more of her strength and agility than she has been able to in previous other matches. It was a fantastic contest that should have been given the spot on an episode of RAW or Smackdown and one that will be noted as one of the best performances from both superstars.

There we have it, that is my list of WWE Superstar Paige's best matches. I actually struggled with this one. Throughout her career Paige has been apart of some great matches and narrowing it down to just five was pretty difficult but I do believe the five I have listed are my personal favorites and some of her clear best. Others that didn't make the list but for sure are up there with the best include her one on one against Charlotte at the Survivor Series pay per view and her singles bout against AJ Lee at SummerSlam.
