Last Week in Wrestling

Hello everyone! Welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good and as always have had a great weekend! Before we get started with today’s blog post I want to quickly say thank you. Last Tuesday my Grandad sadly passed away losing his battle with cancer. For anyone that knows me, you know that my Grandad was basically my dad and his loss has hit me very very hard. However, the support I have had from everyone online has been amazing and I really do appreciate it so thank you all so so much! This week I am planning on live tweeting throughout as many shows as possible and uploading every day of the week but with so much going on in my personal life right now I’m not sure just how well I will be able to stick to my plans! I do, however, have a blog post for you today with it, of course, being Monday it’s time to take a look back at the past seven days in pro wrestling my latest edition of “last week in wrestling”. These are still a weekly regular feature here on my blog and I do have a couple of new things coming up this week I hope you like just as much! Now, as always, any recent blog post will be linked below including my NXT Takeover and Survivor Series highlights and review posts! Finally, you can let me know what you thought of today’s post by leaving a comment down below or by dropping me a tweet over at

WWE News and Updates

Paige Makes Her Much anticipated Return

One of the biggest pieces of news to come out of the world of pro wrestling last week was, of course, the much-anticipated return of former Divas champion, Paige. A long time coming, fans have been waiting months to see Paige make her return to the WWE after over a year out of action. Despite the controversy over the past twelve months, Thankfully, her return was massively well received with her music hitting and the energy levels raising greatly (there was also no stupid fans in the crowd chanting anything disrespectful in the slightest which left me with a sigh of relief). It appears as though the WWE has big plans on pushing Paige and putting her right back on track at the top where she belongs; Attacking half the roster including the Women’s champ means Paige has a lot to answer for this week and I’m hoping that on tonight’s show we get to see and hear from Paige a little more as her new run with the company kick starts.

New Arrivals raises Questions on Women’s Royal Rumble

Upon her return to action last Monday, Paige also welcomed two NXT stars to the Monday night RAW brand, former tough enough competitors Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose. Their arrival on the main roster was a huge surprise and something no one saw coming at all. If you had told me ahead of the show two NXT stars would be joining the women’s division on the night these two would have been the last names I would have mentioned and that has nothing to do with how good they are but more so their lack of experience. We haven’t seen much of both these women (especially Mandy Rose) and that little fact does worry me a bit, was it too soon? I believe Mandy Rose is considered to be a huge favourite amongst higher ups but I personally haven’t seen enough of her to cast judgment on her In-ring skills. Over on Smackdown LIVE, Live Morgan, Sarah Logan, and Ruby Riot also arrived on the main roster where we basically saw the exact same blonde, goth, and brunette thing where again the segment was very similar. These women I can understand more as to why they were called up but struggling to see why Billie Kay and Peyton Royce! Regardless, all the new additions are exactly what both brands needed with the division now feeling fresh and stronger with more to look forward to!

With five new arrivals in total joining the main roster women’s division and Paige’s return there has been a lot of discussion in regard to the first ever women’s Royal Rumble. This is something I personally have been talking about a great deal here on my blog and with friends for a while and honestly, I do feel as though it's about time and slowly the WWE is building a division that has the numbers to do so. Add in a few surprise returns and new arrivals during the Royal Rumble match then there is every chance of this being a big success.  This is going to be something I touch on in more detail in an up and coming blog post!

Batista Set to make WWE Return?

Okay, so this post really is shaking up to be focused on Returns, but this past week really has been full of them and talks of future returns. We’ve touched on in previous posts that former champion Batista is interested in making a return to the WWE and this week we have seen those rumors surface once again! Several sources have revealed that the wrestler turned actor could be in talks with the WWE and could also be interested in having a full-time return to the company. I know there are mixed opinions on Batista amongst the wrestling community, but he is a superstar I’ve always enjoyed watching and I do believe he would be a brilliant addition to either brand particularly Smackdown LIVE. Again, I will be featuring this topic in up and coming blog posts

NXT Takeover and Survivor Series

Last weekend was a big one for the WWE as it held both NXT Takeover and Survivor Series and both shows went down pretty well. For me personally, I did enjoy NXT Takeover just that little bit more.  Felt as though the matches gave me more reason to be interested rather than Survivor Series which had me invested simply for the RAW vs Smackdown LIVE motive. I also felt we got treated to matches closer to a five-star rating at the NXT Takeover War Games Live Special over the Survivor Series pay per view. For me also, it was Aleister Black vs The Velveteen Dream that was rated the best match of the entire weekend and a for sure match of the year candidate. Hideo Itami set to Join Cruiserweight Division & Lucha Underground Season 4 News!

I’ll admit that I’m still not a loyal viewer of 205 Live and I can count on one hand how many shows I have tuned into but believe me when I say I am at least trying! This week it was revealed during the show that NXT star Hideo Itami will be joining the cruiserweight division very soon. This, of course, didn’t come as no surprise. It’s been rumored for a while that Itami would be joining 205 LIVE at some point and it’s now just been made official. Personally, I don’t like the move. It’s going to take a lot for fans to invest in the division and while we have seen things improve and I’m confident Hideo will bring a whole new feel to the division the fact remains this same, there is a lot of work to be done and the interest levels are so low that I really do just believe Hideo will join the rest and become a failed NXT star who really did have all the potential in the world.
It has also been revealed that Lucha Underground will defiantly be returning for season four! Something I of course am very very happy about! A full article on Ultima Lucha Tres will also be linked bellow at the end of today’s post.

Starrcade

And finally, this past Saturday the WWE held their Starrcade live special which saw Natalya and Charlotte go one on one inside a steel cage for the Smackdown LIVE women's championship along with Jinder Mahal vs AJ Styles, Baron Corbin vs Shinsuke Nakamura as well as many more and an appearance from Dustin Rhodes and the Hardy Boyz.

And there we have it! That was Last week in Wrestling! As always, any recent blog posts will be linked bellow and you can let me know what you thought of Last week in wrestling by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me over at @TezangiVictoria.
