WWE Tag Team of the Year 2017

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good and have had an awesome start to the week! So as you all know by now it is of the year season here on my blog which means throughout the month of December I am dedicating my blog to taking a look back at some of the highlights of the year; some the categories include WWE and NXT match of the year, OMG moment of the year, male and Female superstar and many more! While I am feeling the stress I'm enjoying writing these posts and hearing what you guys think. Today it's the turn of the tag team division. It has been an interesting year for tag team wrestling. Highs and lows as always but overall the men of the division have been killing it. We have seen so many fantastic matches from both the main roster and NXT and in today's blog post we're going to be taking a look at some of the best tag teams of the year from RAW, Smackdown LIVE, and NXT. I have a couple of honourable mentions I will get to in just a bit but I'm really happy with the end result and I think we have the perfect team at number one. Know that it was really difficult to name a tag team of the year considering the teams at numbers one and two were both so equally brilliant but in the end, it had to come down to personal preference. As always, any recent blog posts will be linked bellow including my WWE Female superstar of the year post. Finally, you can have your say and let me know who your tag team of the year is by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me over @TezangiVictoria.

Before we get started with the post I have a couple of honourable mentions. These teams didn't make the list but were total standouts and I'm excited to see what the future holds for them!

The Revival

Okay, so I know we haven't seen all too much of these guys this year because of injuries but I know that the next year is going to be huge for the Revival and what we saw at the start of the year really was enough to include them in today's blog post and listed as one of the best tag teams of the year. Their run in NXT came to an end after Wrestlemania with the pair debuting the night after Mania on RAW and as I mentioned; while they haven't been too lucky since they arrived on the main roster the Revival have been apart of some epic matches this year including their triple threat tag team ladder match against Authors of Pain and DIY. The future looks very bright for these two and I cannot wait to see them back on my screens and dominating the tag team, division.

Cesaro and Sheamus

It has been another awesome year for Sheamus and Cesaro. The two have yet again proved that while they are brilliant singles competitors their work together is just fantastic and the right place for them at this stage of their career. There are moments I still wish Cesaro was getting his big singles push we all know he more than deserves but then I watch him compete alongside Sheamus in some of the best tag team matches I have ever seen and it all makes sense. This year we really saw just how fantastic their chemistry is which has only pushed them further up the scale for me. They work so amazingly well together, and their connection feels so real making it even better to watch them. Their in-ring performance this year was even stronger than what we saw in the past. They were more brutal, more barbaric and the sheer wrestling work from there was just fantastic. Another title run has meant they have stayed at the top of the division over on RAW and matches against the likes of Ambrose and Rollins and the Hardys have shown just how strong these guys are as a legit team. These guys have been apart of so many amazing matches this year and it’s been awesome seeing them continued to be booked so well!

The New Day

We all now that there is no denying what so ever that the New Day are one of the biggest and best tag teams in the world today and throughout two thousand and seventeen they proved that very point time and time again. Noted as last years tag team of the year these guys continued to stand as the team to beat but with competition being so high this year these guys dropped down the ladder just a little bit but lets not take anything away from the new day; from January right the way through the year Xavier Woods, Big E, and Kofi Kingston dominated the tag team division. Their transition from Monday night RAW to Smackdown LIVE was greatly successful and worked perfectly! Brining a whole new feel to the tag team division there they gave the blue brand some much-needed depth. The feud between the New Day and the Usos was my personal favourite main roster tag team feud with every single match taking place raising the bar and going down as one of the standouts of the entire year. Xavier Woods in particular was fantastic this year! He’s been killing it in the ring and when you go back and watch some of the best New Day matches of the year its Woods who truly is the big standout.  When you include the fact they were the hosts of Wrestlemania and had another tag team title run these guys really have done a damn brilliant job once again!

Authors of Pain

In at number two and just about missing out on the number one spot is former NXT tag team champions, the Authors of Pain. I really wanted to place these two at the top and crown them my tag team of the year, but they were just suppressed by one other team that I felt did that little bit more. Now, when it comes to NXT it has been leading a change in the tag team division as it did the women’s division. For the past couple of years, the roster there has been delivering tag team action to such a high standard and one of the teams that have been right at the front is, of course, the Authors of Pain. When they debuted on the scene these guys really did have to prove themselves. Unlike many to come before them these two were not fresh from the indie scene, these guys were legit performance centre made and built their way up from scratch. With no experience before the WWE, these two really did nail it. They impressed time and time again and throughout their run so far, they have proven to be one of the best tag teams not only in the WWE but in the wrestling world today. Sure, we may have had our doubts in the beginning but Akam and Rezar have been apart of some of the best matches I’ve personally ever seen from the tag team division. They are forever improving and with Paul Ellering by their side, these guys really do have It all. Their performance in matches against the likes of DIY, The Revival and in the War Games bout have placed these two right at the top and with an NXT tag team championship run behind them too, there really is no denying these guys are legit and the future looks very very bright for the pair.

The Usos

And finally, the number one spot, and my two thousand and seventeen WWE tag team of the year, the Usos. Okay, so if you had told me this time last year that the Usos would be listed as my favourite tag team in the WWE I would have laughed in your face. Anyone that has been following me for long enough knows all too well I have never been a fan of the Usos. While never denying their talent, I
found their character work bland and boring and no matter what they did I couldn’t get behind them at all! However, twenty seventeen saw a huge change in my opinions on these two. Week after week they were impressing, and I found myself becoming more of a fan as time passed. No longer did I have an excuse to hate on these two because the simple fact was these two were killing it. The heel turn was the perfect next step for Jimmy and Jey who flourished in their bad guy role. The moment they had a change in character we saw an instant change in how fans viewed them. Throughout the past twelve months the Usos have been delivering in every aspect whether it be on the mic or in the ring and all the best promos and segments from the tag team division have always had these two involved with a huge standout, of course, being the rap battle between the Usos and the New Day. Their performance inside the ring has been better than ever competing in a number of standouts matches many considered to be some of the best wrestling matches of twenty seventeen and of course their feud with the new day was hands down the best tag team work up on the main roster this year. The Usos have had yet another brilliant year with another two more title reigns behind them and with no signs of slowing down these two look to be leading the division for another year.

And there we have it! The Usos are my WWE tag team of the year! I would love to know what you think and who your tag team of the year so leave a comment bellow or tweet me over at @TezangiVictoria and check out my recent blog posts by clicking the links bellow!
