Top 10 WWE Superstars of the year 2017 Part 1

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good and have had an awesome week so far! So, we almost finished with of the year season here on my blog with just a few more posts to go! I have to say that I have so much fun while it has been crazy busy and time-consuming I have loved taking a look back at the past year in wrestling and listing some of the best moments, matches, and superstars of the year in the world of World Wrestling Entertainment. Approaching the end of the series means that it is time to take a look at the best categories, Male Superstar and match of the year. I have already uploaded part one of my top ten WWE matches of the year and that will, of course, be liked bellow, today, however, we are focusing on individual superstars as I count down the first five superstars in my top ten WWE superstars of the year, this post will only include superstars from RAW and Smackdown LIVE but my NXT version of this post will be linked bellow. Throughout the rest of the week I will be uploading parts one and two of these posts and then that's pretty much it for twenty seventeen, I will be taking a little break for Christmas and having some time out but January first I will be back to normal with new content and ready to start the new year! As always, any recent blog posts will be linked bellow including all my of the year season posts! Finally, you can get involved and tell me who your WWE Superstar of the year is by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me over at @TezangiVictoria.

John Cena

It appears as though I cannot write a top ten WWE Superstars of the year post without including John Cena. While he hasn't been as active as always when it comes to the WWE, taking on a more part-time role, the time that he has spent onscreen has been as fantastic as ever and enough for him to be noted for sure as one of the best of the year. Kickstarting twenty seventeen off on a high Cena battled AJ Styles at the Royal Rumble pay per view in what was hands down one of the best matches of the year and taken the top spot for many wrestling fans. After walking out with the win Cena made history becoming a sixteen-time world champion! His performance on the night was as strong as ever with he and Styles delivering what was a truly epic and historic bout. Throughout the Year Cena had standout matches and moments including against the likes of Baron Corbin, Shinsuke Nakamura and the Miz taking on a quieter role on the roster. Kickstarting SummerSlam, working a mixed tag team match at Wrestlemania he took a seat back and it paid off and worked amazingly well. He also was revealed as a free agent competing on both RAW and Smackdown LIVE which allowed him to work one of the best storyline's of the year against Roman Reigns. While Cena does have a new role in the WWE now it is working and this year has yet again been fantastic for the now sixteen-time world champion.

Baron Corbin

Up next we have Baron Corbin. It really has been a very up and down year for Corbin. Full of highs and lows he really has been through it all but while things haven't always been perfect for him this year he has remained one of the biggest talking points and stars of Smackdown LIVE. He's been given the chance to really prove himself in the ring competing in solid matches against the likes of John Cena and Sin Cara and showing himself to be a truly dominant force in the ring. He was also made Mr. Money in the bank after yet another fantastic performance and again, while his cash in was unsuccessful (a decision that still irritates me) he had a good little run with that briefcase in his hands and the decision for him to win the first place was the right now. He's also shown more of his character, been given more depth, and is currently the United States champion and so as a whole, it really has been a pretty damn decent year for Mr. Baron Corbin!

Seth Rollins

When I first started blogging I remember having Seth Rollins as my WWE Superstar of the year, a few years down the line and yet again he is being considered to at least be one of the best of the year. Two thousand and seventeen have been a stacked year for the former world champion who has continued to work as one of the best and biggest stars in the WWE today. Kick-starting the year strong Rollins worked a must feud against Triple H. This was something that had been in the making for years if not the start of Rollins WWE career and while it disappointed in areas it was something I had been waiting for for a while and so there most certainly was interest. After competing in one of the best of the night at Mania he did walk out with the win against Triple H and soon moved on to more. I remember wanting to see Rollins head on over to Smackdown LIVE following the superstar shakeup but that never happened. Instead, he continued to work strong matches standing out against the likes of Finn Balor, Braun Stowman, Cesaro and more. He then reunited with Dean Ambrose in a classic story of the year where the two went on to become tag team champions and then, of course, we had the Shield reunion. While he hasn't been the amazing heel we love him for Rollins has been a huge part of the roster as ever and has done so much!

Samoa Joe

Time to turn our attention to Samoa Joe who really has been another big standout of the past year. Now, I have to admit that I probably haven't enjoyed the work from Joe as many many other fans but there really is no denying just how brilliant he has been this year. He has had his good and bad moments similarly to Baron Corbin, however, the highs have been really high and he has been brilliant! Several standout moments have highlighted Joe as one of the best on the scene right now. His work with Brock Lesnar was fantastic from the mic work to the in-ring work, Joe came across like a new beast while not picking up the victory and even after his singles match he continued to stay focused on the Universal title and built his way up to another shot at SummerSlam in that epic fatal four way I spoke about in a previous post this week. While again, things could have been even stronger there is no denying that Joe has been a standout on the RAW roster and twenty eighteen looks to be very very promising.

Bobby Roode

And finally, finishing off my two thousand and seventeen part one edition of my top ten WWE superstars of the year is, of course, Bobby Roode. This is a guy that really has done it all. Making the transition from NXT to the main roster Roode has been someone I have enjoyed watching all year round. The first half of the year was spent down in NXT where Roode took over! Becoming NXT champion Roode was at the top of his game. Matches against the likes of Shinsuke Nakamura, Roderick Strong, and Drew McIntyre showed him to be one of the best on the roster at that time as well as an NXT standout all around. He competed in several big, high-quality matches I really enjoyed as well as brilliant storyline's and of course, his Glorious character has been just that... glorious. His transition to the main roster was also rather smooth. While he wasn't thrown into the main event scene things have been done right and the pace the WWE are going at right now feels like the right move for him. He's so far taken part in a feud against Dolph Ziggler but his performance at Survivor Series was so far his best while being apart of the main roster. A standout of the night this was the first time since he was called up I really paid attention and enjoyed his work. All year, however, Roode has been apart of brilliant storyline's, promos, segments and matches making him one of the best of twenty seventeen for sure!

And there we have it! That is part one of my Top Ten WWE Superstars of the year! Part two will be uploaded later in the week so keep an eye out for that! For now, however, you can get involved and tell me who your superstar of the year is by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me over at @TezangiVictoria.
