WWE Female Superstar of the year 2017

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good and have had a good weekend ready to start a fresh new week. So we have finally reached the final month of the year and my favourite, December! Tis the season to be Jolly and I'm currently feeling very festive! December for me is always a busy month. I'm either shopping, wrapping Christmas presents are doing some other festive bits and bobs but it's also of the year season which means I'm writing every single day and consuming a lot of wrestling. If you have been following me and reading my blog for the past couple of years you know what exactly what I'm talking about. Throughout December every single year, I dedicated the month to take a look back at the past twelve months in pro wrestling. This where I will be uploading posts looking at the best WWE matches of the year, male and female superstar of the year along with a number of other categories. I also upload an NXT version of each post. This year I have around nine to ten posts to upload and we're going to be kick-starting things today by taking a look at the women's division. Two thousand and seventeen was yet another huge milestone for women's wrestling with the first women's money in the bank taking place along with several more main events spots and history-making moments and matches. Throughout the year we have so many amazing moments in the women's division and in today's blog post we are going to be taking a look seven of the best from both NXT, RAW, and Smackdown LIVE crowning the female superstar of the year. I'm planning on uploading around three of the year posts a week so keep an eye out for those! For now, any recent blog posts will be linked bellow and you can let me know who you believe is the WWE Female Superstar of the year by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me over @TezangiVictoria.

Before we get started I want to make an honourable mention to the following women. They didn't make the list but are most certainly women that stood out throughout the year and will be mentioned in up and coming blog posts throughout of the year season:

Carmella, Sasha Banks, Natalya, Becky Lynch and Ember Moon.

Naomi

Kickstarting things today and the first superstar I’m noting as one of the biggest standouts of the women’s division is a woman that I’ve had mixed opinions on throughout the years but women who most certainly has had an excellent twenty seventeen, Naomi. It’s about damn time we have been given the chance to list this woman as one of the standouts of the women’s division. For years there has been no denying that Naomi is a fantastic talent. One of the most athletically gifted in the women’s division she has always had so much potential but the WWE throughout the years have held back on pushing her to the level we as fans have always known she deserves to be at. This year however that all changed. Winning the Smackdown LIVE women’s championship not once but twice, Naomi made history, she won the title for a second time in her hometown at Wrestlemania, had a huge character glow up and for the first time the focus was strongly on her and she deserved every single second. In two thousand and seventeen, Naomi was made a star and she truly deserved the whole push.

Nia Jax

Up next is one of the most dominant women in all the WWE, Nia Jax. Throughout the past couple of years, I’ve spoken about and mentioned Nia in several different blog posts. I’ve noted her as one to watch and one of the most improved stars of the year but in two thousand and seventeen Nia went above and beyond to prove herself and she really has come along way. Whether you’re a fan or not you can’t deny the simple fact that Nia has come a long way over the past twelve months and deserves to be highlighted as one of the standout stars of the year. Her dominance has continued and increased with Jax truly finding her place on the roster. She’s been booked in longer matches that have allowed her to show more of what she is capable of and her full move set. Talking about her in-ring work, Jax has shown so much more versatility in several different matches facing off against the best the division has to offer. We saw her compete in her first Wrestlemania match, work an on-screen partnership/alliance with Alexa Bliss that worked in her favour and with so much coming up for the women’s division I’m confident that a big year is ahead for Nia. Her popularity is growing massively and throughout the year we have seen so many indications that there are plenty of big storylines, moments and segments the WWE can line up for Nia that will take her to the next level. Out of everyone on this list today, Nia is the one I’m most excited about watching heading into the new year.

Asuka

In at number three is an obvious pick but one I just had to include, Asuka. I’m sure for many the Empress of tomorrow is considered to be their female Superstar of the year but for me personally, the number three spot is just perfect for the former champion. Now, throughout her run in the WWE so far, my opinions on Asuka have changed multiple times. At the start of the year, I was still struggling to fully understand the hype but as the year progressed I really did see myself respecting and enjoying her work far more. There is no denying that she is one of the top stars in the WWE putting gender aside completely and the things she has achieved in such a short space will ensure she goes down in history. Her debut year with the WWE was strong but two thousand and seventeen sot he reign of the empress only grow. Down in NXT Asuka was the one to beat. The most dominant superstar on the roster she ran through every woman in the division standing on top every single time. Her feud with Ember Moon was a highlight in women’s wrestling this year with their bouts going down as some of the best contests in the WWE Women’s division of the year. She broke record after record becoming one of the longest reigning champions in WWE history holding the NXT Women’s championship for over five hundred days and remains undefeated. As her run on the main roster kickstarts, things are looking very very good for Asuka and I promise that twenty eighteen will see the Empress of tomorrow reach brand new heights and I have to say I am very very excited!

Charlotte

In at number two is the Queen herself, Charlotte Flair.  Come the midpoint of the year I knew that deciding who I was going to place at number one and my twenty seventeen female superstars of the year was going to be a difficult task. Charlotte and the women I have decided to take that very spot have both been leaders in the women division throughout the past twelve months and their achievements have mirrored each other greatly. The reason I decided to place Charlotte at number two instead of one really does just come down to personal opinion. I’ve been more entertained by the number one spot. There is however, no denying the simple fact that Charlotte truly is one of the best superstars in the WWE today and one of the best female talents we’ve seen in pro wrestling possibly ever. Twenty seventeen saw Charlotte prove that time and time again whether it be in the ring or the even further character developments she made. Her heel work once again highlighted her as one of the best and most believable heels on the roster at that current time and even now in her babyface run, she is making her character work. Charlotte is forever delivering in the ring and no matter where she is she is always at number. This year we saw Flair move over to Smackdown LIVE and while things were slow there we have seen her make history by becoming the first ever female grand slam champion holding the NXT, Divas, RAW and Smackdown LIVE women’s champion. She’s also only second women to hold both the RAW and Smackdown LIVE women’s championships. We’ve yet again seen Charlotte square off with the top stars of the women’s division making herself shine while also putting over talent that stands opposite her in the ring. With no signs of Charlotte slowing down I’m confident twenty eighteen will just as if not even bigger for the Queen of the WWE.

Alexa Bliss

And finally, we have the number one spot and my two thousand and seventeen female superstars of the year, Alexa Bliss. Could it really have been anyone else? She may not be the undefeated empress of tomorrow or Queen genetically superior but little miss Bliss has without shadow of a doubt been the standout star of the women’s division this past year. Twelve months ago, I sat here and listed bliss as not only one of the most improved stars of the year but one to watch in twenty seventeen and she really has proven she is both those things. Throughout the year Alexa has continued to improve in all aspects from her in-ring skills to character work and the progress she has made in such a short space of time is incredible. One of the most popular stars on the women’s wrestling today Alexa has taken over the WWE showing she is not only one of the best speakers in her division but her in work is forever improving and matches against the likes of Sasha Banks, Mickie James and Charlotte have proven that very point. Making the transition from Smackdown LIVE to Monday night RAW, Bliss made history earlier in the year when she became the first women in history to hold both the
Smackdown LIVE and RAW women’s championship. The goddess has become the face of the women’s division taking the spot right at the top of both brands. She has been a part of several standout matches and segments and her character work truly has been fantastic. Despite being one of the best heels on the roster her popularity is through the roof and after joining the cast of Total Divas fans have been able to connect to the champ on a new scale. Also, as one of the youngest stars in the WWE today Bliss is showing that the future is very bright and while Asuka and Charlotte have had an excellent year for me personally it has been Bliss that has taken the top spot and has truly been an all-around standout star and she just had to be crowned the two thousand and seventeen female superstars of the year.

And there we have it! Alexa Bliss is my two thousand and seventeen female superstar of the year. Now, I know to some people I'm uploading this too early but at the very very end of the year I am going to be posting a little update, talking about other superstars and there final performance of the year so keep an eye out for that!
