Last Week in Wrestling

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good and have had an awesome weekend! So we kick-start one of the final weeks of twenty seventeen off with a post you are all far too familiar with, Last Week in Wrestling. Now usually, on the Monday after a pay per view, a review/highlights post would be uploaded but that has changed this time around and instead, I will be doing a quick summary of the show included in today's blog post. This will only be a thing for this month and in January things will be returning to normal. In today's blog post we're going to be taking a look back at the past seven days in wrestling both in and outside the WWE. Throughout the rest of the week, I will be focusing on of the year season here. Taking a look at match of the year, superstar of the and NXT star of the year. I'm also going to try and live tweet as much as I can but I will be pre-posting for January too. If you have any requests for these posts do let me know but in the first few weeks of January I will be taking a look at some of the stars to watch in twenty eighteen, NXT call-ups that must happen and my twenty eighteen wishes. For now, any recent blog post will be linked below including every post in of the year season and finally, you can get involved and have your say letting know what you thought of last week in wrestling by leaving a comment or by tweeting me over at @TezangiVictoria.

WWE News

WWE Clash of Champions

So we kick start things off today with of course taking a look at Clash of Champions. As the stars of Smackdown LIVE presented the final pay per view of the year we had a night full of title defenses, twists, and must-see moments that finished twenty seventeen off in the WWE pay per view world pretty decently. I mentioned prior to the start of the show that I wasn't sure how much I would be watching because of the crazy week I have ahead of me but I did catch some of the action and catch up this morning and I have to say I was left with a fair amount to chat and think about. The show as a whole was decent. The night kick-started with a brand new champion being crowned after Dolph Ziggler walked out the victor in a triple threat against Bobby Roode and Baron Corbin where he became the new United States Champion. This was the only title change of the night but was also hands down one of the best matches of the night. The tag team division impressed as always and signs of a future title run for Aiden English and Rusev was also a big talking point amongst fans online, however, it's Harper and Rowan who continue to build momentum and who I'm confident will go on to become the next tag team champions in the near future. The lumberjack match for the Smackdown LIVE Women's champion was okay. You could see that they had planned a few spots and it all didn't go down as clean as it should have but everyone did what they needed to do and the right move was hundred percent keeping the title on Charlotte, I was also really surprised to see Carmella not cash in last night. And finally, the WWE Championship match. Again, I was delighted to see the title remain on the shoulder of AJ Styles but I know everyone had good things to say about this match. It closed the show very well and it was brilliant for Jinder to have such a strong match to end the year and his run in the main event picture for now. AJ Styles really is a wrestling god!

Mixed Match Challenge

Last week the WWE announced that they would be launching a brand new mini-tournament in the January of twenty eighteen. A brand new concept entitled Mixed Match Challenged sees six teams from both RAW and Smackdown LIVE go head to head. Six women from each brand and six men from each brand will team up together in groups of two challenging each other in what I'm expecting to be a weekly show airing LIVE on Facebook watch. Superstars such as Charlotte, Sami Zayn, Bobbie Roode, Braun Strowman, Nia Jax, and Alexa Bliss have been announced some of the names set to take part with the team of Strowman and Jax being a popular fan favorite. I have to admit that I'm really looking forward to this idea. I love the concept of male and female superstars working together and I really do think this is going to open plenty of doors of opportunity in the future. I believe their choice of platform to air the challenge is interesting and could be the only downfall but none the less is something that has really got fans talking and I'm excited to see just how it all goes down in January!

The Injuries are making a return

Throughout the past few years plenty of superstars have suffered serious injuries that have left them out of action for several months including the likes of Seth Rollins and Finn Balor however, last week news in regards to the future career for former WWE Champion Sheamus was brought to light and as the worlds biggest Sheamus fan I have to say... my heart breaks a little. It's been reported that due to a serious neck injury his career may just be cut a little short. Now, this is still a growing a story but it is now public knowledge that Sheamus is suffering from a serious ongoing injury and due to that he has been taking fewer bumps on the road and working much lighter. I've read reports comparing his injury to the likes of Edge and if that is the case then we can all understand what the future may hold however, he is still wrestling, this is a growing story and regardless Sheamus has had a fantastic career and continues to work strong matches alongside Cesaro in the tag team division. It's also been reported that 205LIVE Star Noam Darr has also suffered an injury and is set to be out of action for several months.

OutSide the WWE

Defiant Wrestling Weekly Product and Omega vs Jericho Update

Over a week ago Defiant wrestling previously known as WCPW made it's debut on pay per view with we are defiant, a show that went down very well in terms of match and star quality and a show that I am planning on talking about more in the near future, however, last Friday the weekly product kick-started with a one hour episode. This does look to be a weekly thing with each episode airing at the same time every Friday. Yet another strong show I was given reasons to tune in next week and stay hooked throughout the entire show. In the new year, I'm planning on writing plenty of content surrounding Britsh Wrestling with Defiant Wrestling being a key promotion I focus on!

With tensions rising between Jericho and Omega and the build to their Wrestle Kingdom 12 Collision heating up it has been revealed that the match will now be a No DQ contest. I am going to be doing a full post in the near regarding this match and the entire Wrestle Kingdom show so keep an eye out for that in January!

WWE Returns in the New Year?

And finally, it has been revealed that Ethan Carter III and Bobby Lashley are parting ways with Impact wrestling. Two of the promotions biggest names, these guys have been apart of Impacts most gripping storyline's and matches throughout the past few years and their absence will be greatly felt. The news, however, has got plenty of fans very excited and many including myself believe that a WWE return for both stars could be on the cards. Both would be such a fantastic addition to either RAW, Smackdown LIVE or even NXT and while it is jumping ahead very quickly this is something I would love to see happen and I really do hope we get in the new year. The arrival on the scene would be huge and exactly what the blue brand, in particular, would really benefit from!

And that was last week in Wrestling! I do have a lot happening this week including my Granddads funeral so Live tweeting may be more difficult and updates may be a little late or all over the place but I promise to get back on top of things as soon as possible!
