WWE Superstar Shake Up: 6 Best and Worst Decisions

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World,  I hope you are all well and good and have had a great start to the week! So it is the start of a brand new week and I have an awesome set of brand new blog posts coming your way and we kick-start the week off by taking a look back at the Superstar Shake Up. Last week I uploaded separate RAW and Smackdown LIVE highlights posts discussing the results of the shakeup, however, in today's blog post its time to look at the best and worse overall WWE Superstar Shake-Up decisions. We have six topics to talk about and today and so I don't want to waste much more time. Throughout the rest of the week, I have the return of my combined RAW and Smackdown LIVE highlights as well as two posts focusing on the British Wrestling scene! For now, however, any recent blog posts will be linked below including all of last weeks WWE Superstar Shake up content! Finally, you can get involved and tell me what you thought of last weeks shows and what you would change about the superstar shakeup as well as what your favorite decision was by leaving a comment below or by tweeting me over at @TezangiVictoria.

Drew McIntyre's Move to Smackdown LIVE

Probably the biggest mistake the WWE made during the superstar Shake up this week was the decision to add former NXT Champion Drew McIntyre the Monday night RAW roster. While he most certainly deserved the call up to the main roster it was the brand he was put on that really is the problem as well as the early direction the WWE seems to be going in. McIntyre is a big-time name. He reinvented himself and became one of the most talked about men in professional wrestling and since his return to the WWE McIntyre has found himself in a very comfortable position at the top; and so because of that, he made for the perfect addition to not the RAW roster but the Smackdown LIVE roster. For months the blue brand has been crying out for a big start to arrive on the scene and add some depth to the main event scene; McIntyre was the perfect man for the job. Now,I do believe that he will have a brilliant run over on RAW but it's Smackdown LIVE where we would have seen him climb higher up the ladder faster and not only was it the home where McIntyre would do well but his presences on the roster would have been highly beneficial for Smackdown LIVE. Pairing the former IC Champion with Dolph Ziggler also makes for an interesting move. The pair has very little chemistry and the elegance makes no sense at this stage. The pair has very little chemistry and the elegance makes no sense at this stage. The pair has very little chemistry and the elegance makes no sense at this stage.

A Fresh Start for the Riott Squad or a Missed Opportunity

If I'm being totally honest, I wasn't over the moon with plenty of the decisions made for the women's division over the Superstar Shakeup. They were not really made a focal point and no big moves were really made. However, what I did like was the Riott Squad moving over to Monday night RAW. These girls really did need something new and a fresh start. They needed new faces to target, new matches, and bigger opportunities and that is everything these girls can get over on RAW. I mentioned last week that it was very interesting to see the WWE keep so many female teams together considering this was the perfect opportunity to let a few women go out and get a push on their own which does indicate that tag team titles for the women's' division is something to expect in the coming months.

SAnity... But where is Nikki Cross

A move I personally really disliked from last weeks superstar shakeup was the decision to call up NXT's Sanity without Nikki Cross. Now, I've been online and I've read the rumors and it is said that Cross has been kept down in NXT for the sake of the women's division. After losing three top names in Peyton Royce, Billie Kay, and Ember Moon, the division couldn't afford to lose another top star and with newly crowned champion Shayna Baszler in need of new challengers, Nikki simply fits the bill as the perfect opponent. However, personally, if that was the case I would have rather had seen Sanity Called up later in the year so the four of them could move together. Sanity just doesn't feel like Sanity without Cross. They've lost a touch of their originality and what made them such standouts over in NXT. I'm sure they will make an impact on Smackdown LIVE and the blue brand was one hundred percent the right place to call them up to, however, they are missing something and the reaction on twitter really speaks volumes and reminds the WWE just how big of a part Nikki played in Sanity.

Big Moves for Smackdown LIVE

There is no denying that it was Smackdown LIVE who won the superstar shake up this time around. While no returning stars were added to the roster it was brand new additions including the IIconics, Sanity, Andrade Cien Almas and Zelina Vega from NXT along with RAW call-ups such as Asuka, Samoa Joe, and Jeff Hardy that really changed the game. The blue brand has seriously been missing out on some top stars to fill that main event spot and with the Miz back Smackdown along with newcomers Joe and Hard call-ups such as Asuka, Samoa Joe, and Jeff Hardy that really changed the game. The blue brand has seriously been missing out on some top stars to fill that main event spot and with the Miz back Smackdown along with newcomers Joe and Hardy that is a problem that really has been fixed! Fans can expect to finally see a full-on feud between The Miz and Daniel Bryan, as well as Joe, tearing it up and easing into the WWE Championship picture and Jeff Hardy giving the blue brand exactly what it was crying out for. Hardy's move may just be one of if not the best move of the week. Separating him and Matt is one hundred percent a good decision and I'm excited to see what he has coming up over the next few weeks. We should also mention that an aligance between the Miz and Big Cass may be on the cards after Cass attacked Bryan which could very easily be an excellent and beneficial move for both superstars.

The Club with No Finn Balor

There really was no other tag team more in need of moving brands last week than the Club. It hasn't been an easy ride for these two and they have been crying out for something new and some opportunities for a long time and finally they have been handed just that. Moving to Smackdown LIVE allows them to have a fresh start, challenge new superstars and finally edge closer to being booked and used as the top talents they are and what hardcore fans expected them to be in the WWE. However, the mistake here was moving them without Finn Balor. The Balor club is something that the WWE really could have built into a major stable. A faction that could have taken over and made a similar impact as the likes of the Shield and NWO for example. Separating Anderson and Gallows from Balor will likely effect Balor way more but its the potential storylines they could have worked on including AJ Styles that makes this such a shame.

Separating Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin

And finally, a really good decision the WWE made last week was to separate Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin. Anyone that knows me and has been reading my blog posts for a while will know that I haven't really been the biggest fan of this duo. It has felt rather forced and the chemistry just hasn't been there. Its clear both these superstars will do far better on their own and I'm hoping the WWE give them both the push they really do deserve. This is finally the chance to give Gable the big push he deserves and once Jason Jordan is back in the ring there are some great potential storylines the WWE can focus on and as for Benjamin he is an amazing part of the company and can very easily become an asset on the blue brand with the right booking and direction and we can expect some great matches.

And that is my list! Any recent blog posts will be linked below including all of last weeks WWE Superstar Shake up content!
