Seven Things We Could See at Smackdown 1000

This week Smackdown hits a huge milestone as the WWE celebrates its 1000^th episode! Its been dubbed as a must-see show with the likes of Rey Mysterio and Evolution set to make an appearance\return as well as a continuous build for up and coming pay per views and more possible surprises along the way! With the celebratory and nostalgic episode looming we today are going to be looking at some of the matches, moments, and segments fans can expect to see and I’m going to be discussing exactly what I believe could make this week's Smackdown LIVE a huge hit and of course why you should be watching!

The Bar Become Tag Team Champions

One thing I, of course, am expecting to see this week on Smackdown LIVE is a title shot! Milestone episodes and special shows always promise gold on the line and with the tag team division heating up and new champs being something many want to see we can sure expect The New Day to put their titles on the line against the two men who have been standing in their way for weeks, the Bar. While Sheamus and Cesaro failed to pick up the titles at the recent WWE Super Showdown event its unlikely the two teams are done with one another and a shot at the championships this week makes all the sense in the world. While I personally love the New Day, it would be great to see the Bar back on top and a victory at a special episode like Smackdown 1000 is exactly what they need.

Teddy Long Books a Match

Can you really celebrate a milestone episode of Smackdown LIVE without Teddy Long? It has been officially revealed the iconic Smackdown LIVE general manager will be making an appearance at the milestone episode this coming week and I think we all know what to expect here! A segment involving current general manager Paige where she gives him the heads up to book a tag team match is something I think most of us are expecting and while it may not be the highlight of the night it would make for a cool nostalgic moment.

Nikki Cross Arrives

Okay, so this one is more so something I personally would like to see but with Nikki Cross spending a great deal of time working live events with the Smackdown LIVE roster for quite sometime and the rest of her Sanity allies already apart of the roster it is just a matter of time till she arrives on the blue brand properly. A character like Cross is one that would seriously benefit from debut on a bigger episode and this may just be the perfect way to introduce her. Now, I do believe that on the flip side it would be far greater if Cross debuted when Sanity had more momentum but with Evolution set to make an appearance this coming Tuesday maybe the timing makes sense after all…

 

Sanity and Evolution CLASH

Keeping on the theme of my last point, we know that it has been confirmed that Evolution will be making an appearance this week on Smackdown LIVE. An iconic part of the history of Smackdown it's sure to be a special moment seeing them back in a WWE ring together on the blue brand. Whether Orton, Batista, and Triple H will, in fact, be in action is something we can only speculate at this point but if they are to team up together for one night only the trio are going to need a solid faction to collide with and while the New Day make for fun opponents it would be a shame to waste former NXT tag team champions Sanity in a segment that they desperately need. Since debuting on the main roster these guys have struggled massively to get over and receive consistent booking. They have slightly faded into the background but with right kind of direction these three could easily rise to the top and even coming to take part in a segment with Evolution would be seriously important and beneficial! With Ric Flair also set to make an appearance the trio are slightly outnumbered, and I don’t know about you but I believe a debuting Nikki Cross to even the numbers at ringside is pretty epic! The WWE would have to be very careful not to ruin Sanity here in what could easily be a make or break moment in their careers.

The Rock and Christian Also Make an Appearance 

It has also been revealed that the Rated R superstar and WWE Hall of Famer Edge will be making an appearance this coming Tuesday on a huge episode of Smackdown LIVE. With the news of the Smackdown icon set to host an edition of the cutting edge many are also expecting Christan to make an appearance alongside his former tag team partner. Christian too is, of course, a huge part of the history of Smackdown and his presence would be another standout moment of the night. Another rumored name to feature has been the Rock. Now, this is one I doubt a little more but with so many rumors regarding a Rock return, it wouldn't surprise me at all to see the iconic WWE superstar make a showing. 

Rey Mysterio Earns a Spot at Crown Jewel

During this weeks episode of Smackdown LIVE, it was announced that Rey Mysterio will not only return this coming Tuesday at Smackdown 1000 but will compete against United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura to earn a spot in the World Cup tournament taking place at the up and coming Crown Jewel live special. Now, I personally would have loved to have seen Rey's return been more of a surprise and I also believe both these men need a spot in this tournament but I and the rest of the world appear to be pretty confident in the belief that Rey will walk out with the victory this coming Tuesday. I have a whole article looking at potential storylines and matches Rey could take in upon his return which will be linked below but expect a standout match and moment to take place regarding Mysterio this week and for the first big victory of his fresh new run with the company to kick start!

Michelle McCool's Makes An Evolution Announcement 

And to conclude we are going to once again look at the women’s division. We have, in fact, had some news regarding past female superstars making an appearance this week on the milestone episode of Smackdown LIVE and the likes of Tori Wilson, Vicki Guerrero, and of course, Michelle McCool has made the list of stars set to show up this coming week. The former Women’s and Divas champion is a favourite to take part in the up and coming Evolution pay per view and with Michelle also being such a key figure in the history of Smackdown this Tuesday appears to be the perfect night for her to make an arrival. Deciding what in fact she does varies. Whether it be making a return alongside Layla to confront the IIConics or for Michelle to make an announcement regarding the Evolution pay per view and her role on the night it would be both important and a special moment if she does make an appearance!

And those are just some of the things we can expect to see this week on Smackdown 1000 and some of the segments I personally am hoping out for! But what would you like to see happen this week?
