Dream NXT Mixed Match Challenge Teams (Part1)

I’ve mentioned earlier in the year that the WWE Mixed Match Challenge has been one of my favourite WWE ideas in a while. It’s the one time we get to see storyline’s put aside (sort of) and the superstars genuinely have fun. Its easy watch, entertaining, and great to watch weekly and with the second season in full swing I want to spend some time here on my blog discussing this little tournament and we’re going to kick start things off by moving our attention to the NXT roster. While the stars of the black and yellow brand may not be apart of this special event there are a handful if dream teams over on the roster and today we’re going to be looking at just some of those very teams!

Johnny Gargano & Candice LeRae

The first team we’re going to be talking about will come as no surprise as I’m confident these were the names everyone was expecting to feature in this post! Married couple Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae have worked alongside each other in the ring throughout their careers including their time with the WWE already and so, of course, they make for a dream team in the Mixed Match Challenge. Their chemistry is stronger than arguably any other team will be talking about today and as two of the best pro wrestlers on the scene today some real magic could be created in the ring between these two and an array of opponents. I don’t doubt that the two will work together even more in the future and more mixed tag team match are most certainly on the cards for the pair.

Tommaso Ciampa & Nikki Cross

I’ll be honest, this one stems from so pictures I recently saw coming straight from some recent NXT tapings but when I gave it more thought there really was no denying that these two loose cannons would make for a real dream team. Two of NXT’s best characters, most over stars, and damn strong wrestlers, the two make for an unhinged, unpredictable, and unstable team that would provide a real edge and level of entertainment not many of the other teams we will be talking about today may be able to provide. Their darker more intense nature is something that a fun tournament like this would really benefit from having not to mention Cross and Ciampa would defiantly go down as my winners!

Velveteen Dream & Venessa Borne

While we haven’t seen all too much of former Mae Young Classic competitor Venessa Borne the moments we have seen from her have been full of sass, confidence, and potential and a pairing with the Velveteen Dream is a match made in heaven. The two are full of personality, work the belief that they are better than everyone else on the roster, and of course, their shared sass and confidence makes them rather similar. I strongly believe that Borne is one to watch in the future and if only the WWE would include NXT Talent in the mixed match challenge for I really do feel as though the Dream could really bring out more in Borne and something like this could give her the push and extra exposer she needs.

Ricochet & Dakota Kai

Up next is a fun, fast-paced, athletic team that would for sure go down as fan favourites. Looking at who could be paired with Ricochet was not an easy task considering there are so many potential matches that would work so well but for me personally it was Dakota Kai who topped the list. The little moments we could see between these two in the ring would really make for some fun and exciting viewing and I really do believe they could bring out the best in one another and create something bright and fun into a tournament like this. Out of everyone on the list today it’s the team of Ricochet and Kai that excites me the most as their characters and vibe work so amazingly well together.

Bianca Belair & Montez Ford

Bianca Belair was another name I had quite a few superstars I would have paired her with for a mixed match challenge but of course, in the end, I had to go with her real-life husband, Montez Ford. These two superstars have huge similarities with both full of character, charisma, likeability, and loads of talent. Their confidence, sass, in your face personalities get the crowd up on their feet every single time their music hits and together they could really bring something fun and different to the table. Just imagine the team of Bianca Belair and Montez Ford colliding against the team of the Velveteen Dream and Venessa Borne! Now that is a mixed tag team match I want to see!
