Five Superstars Who Could Dethrone Roman Reigns

Love him or hate him Roman Reign is one of the most talked about, strongly booked, consistent WWE superstars’ fans have seen in years, possibly of all time. He’s spent his career being controversial and divided fan opinion but as of right now he sits as the current Universal Champion and early into his current reign the WWE universe have begun discussing who could dethrone the title holder within the coming months and that is exactly the theme of today’s blog post. We are going to be looking at five current active RAW superstars who may have the chance of walking out the next Universal Champion!

Dean Ambrose

We kick start today’s blog post off with arguably my favourite to feature today. Since returning to action a couple of months back fans have not stopped talking about the lunatic fringe. Sporting a new image, the former WWE Champion is looking better than ever. Not only is he in fantastic shape but the changes made to his mannerisms have allowed him to standout massively and fans strongly believe its only a matter of time before he is given a huge push and turns heel. The WWE universe has waited to see Ambrose turn on close ally and friend Seth Rollins long before he was even injured and with Reigns now champion and the Shield working together again the timing appears to be perfect. Turning on Rollins and Reigns resulting in a triple threat match between the superstars is a favourite for next years Wrestlemania main event and Ambrose walking out as champion would most certainly make for a satisfying ending and well-written storyline!

The Rock

Keeping on the topic of popular Wrestlemania thirty-five main events we next must look at the Rock. Its been rumored for a while now that the peoples champion could well indeed collide with the current Universal Champion at next years Wrestlemania. While this wouldn’t be something I personally would want in the main event or have a great deal of excitement for it doesn’t appear to be an impossible booking decision and the more I think about it the more it becomes clear that there is a good, solid story to be told between the two that could make for an excellent main event at the next Mania event. Again, The Rock dethroning Roman Reigns is probably my least favourite I will be talking about today simply because I don’t favour the idea of a part-timer being champion again however, he is a favourite to do so and I can most certainly see this happening.

Seth Rollins

And moving back to the Shield we, of course, must mention Seth Rollins who too is a favourite amongst many to dethrone Roman Reigns. There is no denying that out of everyone on this list today, Seth Rollins is the most consistent WWE superstar quite possibly In the whole of the WWE as well! While he is the current IC champions it's clear he could so easily and deserves to be much higher up on the roster and a run as Universal Champion should be something coming up for him. He is, of course, one of the biggest weekly features on RAW making the show what it is today, however, he most certainly has a strong argument backing why he should be Universal Champion and dethroning Reigns would not come as surprise and leave many fans with big smiles on their faces.

Bobby Lashley

I strongly believe that out of everyone in this list today Bobby Lashley is the least likely to have a run as Universal Champion any time soon. While many including myself believed he was going to receive a big-time push upon his return it just didn’t happen and I can’t see that happening any time soon. However, in today’s blog post I wanted to include a personal favourite of mine and someone I would love to see as champion and Lashley was that man. He has every single attribute you would look for in a champion and I do believe that if the WWE focus on him more and give him the push he deserves and should have gotten months ago he could make for an excellent Universal Champ!

Drew McIntyre

And finally, to conclude, we have my second favourite featuring in today’s blog post, Drew McIntyre. The Scottish star is one of the most talked about right now especially in terms of discussions revolving around who should be the next Universal Champion. The WWE took an interesting and unexpected direction for McIntyre when he moved up to the main roster when they paired him up with Ziggler and while I didn’t have the highest of hopes I can at least say now I am very entertained by the pair and what we get from them on a weekly basis. Saying that I do find myself still waiting for McIntyre to go his own way and chase after things even bigger and the Universal Championship is exactly that. A foundation for a storyline/feud has been built between Drew and Reigns and I do believe that he genuinely has a big chance of walking away as champion at some point within the next year.  

And that is my list! There were other names I wanted to mention including Kevin Owens but I'm very happy with the list this week!
