Six Reasons You Should Still be Excited for WWE Evolution

Last week I uploaded a blog post discussing the current state of the Evolution pay per view. With the WWE set to make history this month taking the women’s division and this movement to new heights by hosting this very special event many fans have their concerns and as I mentioned earlier I spent some time last week discussing those talking points here on my blog. Today, we are going to flipping things over and looking at some of the reasons why you should still be excited about the Evolution pay per view and the six things to look forward to from the show! With so much to cover let’s jump on the positive train.

THIS POST WAS PRE POSTED BEFORE LAST WEEKS ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Mae Young Classic Finals

One of my genuine favourite WWE highlights of the year has without a shadow of a doubt been the Mae Young Classic. As I’m writing this we are just touching on the final matches of the first round but I’m pretty confident I am enjoying this second annual version to the first. We’ve seen some excellent matches over the past few weeks and there are so many more promising bouts to come from this tournament! With that being said, the finals of the Mae Young Classic will be taking place at the Evolution pay per view later this month and judging by what we have seen so far from the Classic this is enough to have me buying the pay per view regardless. I’m not going to sit here with spoilers as to who will be competing at Evolution in the finals but keeping in mind the competition has been so hot and fierce and we have so many amazing competitors we really do have loads to look forward here!

A Possible Huge Announcement

A big rumor that has got everyone talking regarding the Evolution pay per view is the news that the WWE is likely to announce and crown the first WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. It’s been hinted by current WWE employee’s, it’s a decision fans have been discussing for a while, and with the roster growing in numbers it appears as though now may just be the best time to do so. Now, in a dream world I would have booked the Bella Twins vs the IIconics in the finals of a match like this but with so many women in the division so many teams with great potential this has me very excited and my expectations are very high. Introducing women’s tag titles is something that could go amazingly well or awfully bad but it’s an announcement like and introduction of new titles that could give this PPV the edge and major talking point it needs but also prove yet again that the female superstars really are becoming truly equal to their male peers in every way.

Last Woman Standing

One of the matches I'm most looking forward to watching at the Evolution pay per view is of course the Smackdown LIVE women's championship bout which will see Becky Lynch defend her title against Charlotte Flair in a Last Woman Standing match. This is the first time we have seen this stipulation of match take place on the main roster for the women's division but it's not the first ever in WWE history. Only last year did fans witness Asuka and Nikki Cross take part in the first Last woman Standing match for the NXT Women's championship which did go down as a personal favourite of year for me. Now, that was such a standout match for the women's division, Asuka's reign, and of the year and so topping that won't be an easy job but there is no denying the simple fact that Lynch VS Flair is the best-told story in the women's division right now and possibly the best-told story in the WWE as a whole today. We have seen such an excellent build and the chemistry between these two is fantastic! I don't doubt this will be a standout match of the night that could so easily steal the show. I'm personally expecting way more from this than the RAW women's championship bout.

The NXT Women’s Championship Match

It was recently announced that Kairi Sane will defend her NXT Women’s Championship against Shayna Baszler at the up and coming Evolution pay per view and I have to be honest and say at the moment this is one of the matches I’m most looking forward to and has become a key reason why fans should remain excited about this PPV. While I didn’t have much excitement for this first bout that match turned out to be a division highlight of the year with Baszler working her best WWE match to date and Kairi proving to be a worthy champion. By far one of my favourite WWE Women’s division matches of twenty eighteen I can honestly admit that I cannot wait for their third match. The two work amazingly well together and haven’t worked a bad bout together! This is sure to be another solid match up with possible surprises and special moments added!

The Arrival of the Four Horsewomen

A few months back it was confirmed that Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir had officially signed the WWE meaning all members of the Four Horsewomen of UFC were under WWE contract and since their signing, both Jessamyn and Marina have played a huge role at NXT live events making one heck of an impact. Multiple tag team matches and standing alongside Shayna Baszler, pictures and videos hint that a faction involving the three women could be in action for the coming months over in the NXT Women’s division. While this is all just speculation, the idea of these three women causing havoc on the roster excited me massively and it’s clear that here is where we could finally see an all women’s faction really make an impact and standout. Considering the WWE really is keen on all of these superstars I wouldn’t be surprised if Marina and Jessamyn made a very early debut arriving at the Evolution pay per view, coming to the aid of Baszler creating the start of something very very exciting! This kind of debut/moment at Evolution could really shape the PPV and give it the buzz and major talking point that’s needed!

The Celebration

The Evolution pay per view is a celebration. It’s a night of serious championship matches yes but this night is a celebration of women in this industry past, present, and future. It’s about looking at how far women have come in the world of pro wrestling but highlighting what the women of before did and what the women of the future will do. It’s a night to enjoy and celebrate women’s wrestling and in a world, we constantly take things so seriously here we can have fun while also remembering the importance of this pay per view. The night promises nostalgia moments, returns, possibly debuts, and your favourite stars of now and over in NXT and all of that is enough of a reason to tune in!

Overall, I am excited for the Evolution PPV. There has been a majorly disappointing build that does have me worried as I touched on last week but as we have seen today, there is still plenty of reasons to look forward to this historic event and I cannot wait to live tweet and during the show and see what you guys think!
