Seven Bold Predictions for WWE Super Showdown

This coming weekend the WWE hosts its first ever Network Special live from Australia. With such a huge trip taking place, more history being made, and the WWE diving deeper into its Australian fanbase a stacked card has been booked full of dream matches, potential surprises, and title bouts. In today’s blog post we are going to be looking further into the massive event as I bring you my bold predictions. I have six points I’m going to be tackling today so grab a drink and let’s jump into it!

The Bella Twins Turn on Ronda Rousey

Since making their return to the WWE, the Bella Twins have shown their appreciation and admiration for newly crowned RAW women’s Champion, Ronda Rousey. Their friendship with the champ has been made very clear and a huge focal point over the last month and this weekend the three will team up to take on the unified trio that is the Riott Squad. From the get-go, fans have strongly believed that it is only a matter of time before Nikki and Brie turn on Rousey for their own gain, and with rumors growing stronger that the Evolution main event will see Nikki challenge Ronda for the RAW Women’s Championship this theory only makes more sense. Now, my opinion on this really does vary. I believe we could get an interesting bout between Nikki and Ronda and I am totally expecting the turn to happen this weekend, however, with Brie having such a heavy involvement over on Smackdown LIVE, how effective will turning her heel be? Of course, the focus here is more so on Nikki and again, I do think this could be a standout moment of the night if done right and the build of Rousey vs Nikki has a lot of potential!

Shawn Michaels Further Hints at a Return

For weeks now, another huge talking point has focused around Shawn Michaels and the possibility of him working one more match. Following a heated segment on a recent episode of RAW with the Undertaker, fans were left wondering when and if the former champion will make a return to the ring. A bold prediction I’m making is that this weekend we could see Michaels further hit and make it clearer that he will be stepping back in the ring for one match setting his sights on one of his greatest opponents of all time, the Undertaker. With the dead man set to take on Triple H this weekend, I’m expecting Taker to walk out with the victory (a much needed one) for him to continue taunting his opponent after resulting in Michaels getting involved and again confronting his former foe. Now, this may be a little far-fetched but there have been enough hints that this could happen and if it does it could really shape not only this special event but the coming weeks to a year.

McIntyre Turns on Ziggler

Out of all the points, I’m going to be talking about today this is the one I’m least expecting. I am one of those fans still waiting for McIntyre to turn on Ziggler and receive that big singles push but there is a strong part of me that doesn’t quite believe now is the right time. With that being said the WWE has begun planting the seeds for either McIntyre or Ambrose to turn on their allies and with a huge six-man tag team match booked this weekend the setting could not be more fitting. Will, we see a frustrated McIntyre turn or will this, in fact, be a hugely rewarding night for this dominant new faction?

Charlotte Flair Wins Back Her Title

The rivalry between Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch is without a shadow of a doubt one of the best-told stories in the WWE right now. While flawed in some area’s fans have really have found themselves invested in the story being told and it has been a standout for the women’s division. This weekend Lynch and Flair will once again do battle for the Smackdown LIVE Women’s championship and while I’m loving seeing Becky as champion and her reign itself, I strongly believe the title will be changing hands once again and Flair will find herself as the Queen once again. Looking at how the story has been told it does feel like the right next step to ensure the feud can continue but also to create more depth here. A double turn is something many are expecting to take place and Charlotte winning the title back could be the start of that and could really make this story even more interesting.

Buddy Murphy Becomes the New Cruiserweight Champion

This weekend the IIConics and Buddy Murphy will be returning to their home of Australia and with Murphy set to challenge for the Cruiserweight championship, it looks as though history may just be made this weekend! Murphy has become such a key figure over on 205Live with consistently strong and impressive performances proving to be exactly what the show/division has needed majorly earning this title shot. It would be such a special moment for Buddy to walk out as the new Cruiserweight champion becoming the first Australian to hold the title. The historic moment in his hometown would be such an amazing career moment for Murphy but also an important move for the WWE. The hometown celebration and victory are something this show needs to have!

The Miz Becomes Number One Contender

Throughout the Daniel Bryan/Miz feud fans have witnessed the Miz get the upper hand far more than they may have expected and this weekend the two are set to go one on one once again but who will take the most important victory of their rivalry to date? After it was announced Bryan and Miz will be going head to head to earn the title of Number one contender fans really have been sharing their opinion and it appears to be divided. Either one of these superstars would make for the perfect next number one contender and so this makes for an interesting bout. I’m expecting this to be their best so far but also the Miz to walk out on top once again. Once upon a time it would have seemed impossible to believe the Miz would get the upper hand over Bryan and become the number one contender over him but with the Miz being so popular, having such a successful couple of years, and so many wanting to see him as WWE champion we may just see that happen this weekend and for the former IC Champion to edge even closer to becoming WWE Champ. Regardless, I’m confident these two superstars will collide again, however, possibly for the WWE title at a much grander stage.

AJ Styles Retains the WWE Championship

I’ll admit that I have slightly lost interest in AJ Styles’ current WWE Championship reign, however, I cannot honestly see it ending any time soon. I believe the WWE will allow him to hit the one-year mark for things to then change a new champion to be crowned towards the end of the year (the Miz being one of my faves to dethrone him). Now, throughout their rivalry, Samoa Joe has proven he would make for an excellent WWE Champion and I have totally been invested in this story thanks to what we have seen from Joe. Of course, I would love to see a new champ crowned just because I feel as though its needed and Joe makes for a perfect pick, however, I don’t believe this will be the night Styles will drop his championship despite the timing may be right in the eyes of many.

And those are my seven bold predictions for the up and coming Super Showdown. I do believe this has the potential to be one of the most entertaining and important shows of the year and of course I will be live tweeting throughout!
