WWE NXT Review and Reactions

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good! I'm back today with a post I absolutely love to write but haven't done so in a long time, NXT Review and Reactions! I know it's been quite some time since I last uploaded an NXT Review and Reactions post. Every single week I mention that I will be bringing them back here and I never end up writing and uploading them. The issue I have had over the past month has simply been how busy I've been with my personal life.Certain schedules have changed a lot over the past month or so and it's made my Thursday's not as free as they use to be. However, this week we had a really big special show and I just had to make the time to sit down and write. For weeks the WWE have been hyping the one on one match up between two of NXT's greatest stars, Shinsuke Nakamura and the former NXT Champion Finn Balor and that match took place last night and in today's blog post we're going to be talking about that in a little more detail! We will also be taking a look at the return of the current champ, Samoa Joe witch also took place during this weeks episode of NXT. I am going to try my best to make these NXT Review posts a weekly thing once again but as you know, with the changes to the main roster happening there will also be a few changes here on my blog and how things are done. As always any recent blog posts will be linked bellow including my most recent RAW Review/Highlights post. Finally, you can let me know what you thought of this weeks show by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.

Last month at the NXT Takeover: The End live special Samoa Joe successfully defended his NXT Championship against Finn Balor in the first ever steel cage match in NXT. It was a stellar match an easy candidate for match of the year twenty sixteen. Since that night Joe has remained away from NXT TV making us all wait to see our champion return to the full sail venue. Last night, however, he finally made his much anticipated return on a night where wrestling was at an all time high. Joe wasted no time mentioning the big match of the night, Shinsuke Nakamura VS Finn Balor. Declaring that the match was disrespectful and an insult towards him purely because both superstars and fans believe that the winner of this match automatically have the right to face him for the NXT Championship. It was an interesting yet simple opening promo. It was great to hear from Joe and to get his response/opinion on the nights main event. The champ then went on to declare himself as the new face of NXT stating that if anyone wants to question that than they will have to go through him. Of course claiming to be the best of the best comes with a consequence and of course those words were going to spark attention of the men in the locker room and Joe was soon confronted by an angry Rhyno and after his huge return during last weeks show this is going to be something to keep an eye on and a future match I'm sure many will be interested in considering their skill and shared history both in and outside of NXT.

Throughout the night several matches were announced for next weeks episode including Nia Jax VS Bayley witch should be brilliant considering their history, and American Alpha VS The Authors of Pain, a match that has been building up for the past month or so. This will be the first time we see the Authors of Pain step in the ring for a full length match with top NXT stars and it should be interesting seeing how the match is booked and how they fair in a match against such a dominate, talented, skillful and popular team

Several weeks back the wrestling world went insane when Shinsuke Nakamura and Finn Balor came face to face for m the second. It was one of the moments that genuinely gave me goosebumps and had me on the edge of my seat. On the night Shinsuke  announced that he was going after the NXT Championship but in order to do so he needed to prove himself and of course gain momentum and what better way to do that than to beat arguably the greatest champion in NXT history and in the words of Shinsuke himself the "icon" of NXT, Finn Balor. Now, I like everyone else has been waiting for this match to happen from the very moment Shinsuke made his NXT debut and so I have been super super excited over the past three weeks and the wait has been killing me! This is without a doubt one of the most anticipated matches in NXT history and with the expectations so high this was a match that had everyone glued to their screens.

The match  itself was nothing short  of fantastic. Living up to expectations Shinsuke and Finn worked together to deliver a match more than worthy of being added to the talks regarding match of the year. Completely captivated from the moment the night started the entrances alone had everyone on their feet yelling at the top of their voices. The excitement and the electricity in the room was insane, you could feel the buzz in the room just bursting through the screen. When you take a look at everyone in the crowd every single person had a huge smile on their face and the genuine excitement on their faces was something brilliant. With the awesome entrances over and done with it was time for the action to start and over twenty minuets of outstanding wrestling took place. We saw a much slower stat than expected with both superstars taking their time to get the feel of the match and speed things up a little. However, within the first five minuets or so the flamboyant Nakamura was able to taunt Balor pushing his buttons just that little more and after taunting one another and getting the crowd that little more excited the pace quickened following the rope break. In previous matches we have seen the mind games from Nakamura work in his favour to get one up on his opponents but the  familiar face that is Finn Balor was not backing down and the mind games sure did not work on the former NXT Champion. Playing the same games Finn pocked Nakamura in the head with his trademark "too sweet" hand gesture that only had the crowd on their feet and even louder.

Both the NXT universe in the room and everyone at home was on the edge of their seats completely gripped and entertained by the action in the ring. It took a great deal of time for either of these superstars to take control of the match with the fast pace action seeing a back and fourth match take place. Both Nakamura and Balor know each other so well and that shined through as clear as anything in this match  and it's that witch match this match so amazing and so back and fourth. The
turning point was without a doubt when Balor found his opening targeting the right knee of Nakamura. With the knee suffering it put the king of strong on hold with signature proving to be far more difficult when having issues with the knee, a key factor in Shinsuke's move set. As the match progressed Balor used the weak knee to his advantage playing on it throughout looking in painful submissions that had us believe the new fan favourite was only seconds from tapping out. But it wasn't just Balor who has a bunch of submission holds up his sleeve, Nakamura surprised both Finn and the fans with a number of holds coming out of nowhere where once again we were all on the edge of our seats waiting to see if the match wold come to an end. Now, I love both of these superstars, I have spoken about both of them plenty of times here on my blog and over on twitter and so it was impossible for me to cheer for just one and that was yet another huge part of this match. The fact that no one was able to boo either of these men showed just how brilliant both of them were and how iconic they are in NXT. In the end it was of course Shinsuke who picked up the huge win but both men left feeling like winners. Now, this is likely to be Balor's final match in NXT and if so than what a brilliant match to end a fantastic NXT career.
