Battleground Predictions: Sami Zayn VS Kevin Owens

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good! This Sunday live on the WWE Network the two thousand and sixteen annual Battleground pay per view will air and with a dream match main event this sure is one not to miss! Throughout the week I will be uploading individual prediction posts for every single match on the card. As usual I will be taking an in depth look at the matches announced for the show and writing up full length predictions for you to reach to get everyone thinking about the pay per view and get even more excited for the entire show. Now, of course with the brand split happening in a couple of weeks time is does make it difficult this time round to write prediction posts but I'm gonna try my best and work around the brand split, talking how that huge change will effect each match on the card. It's gonna be a long week so I hope you ready and excited for these posts. I as usual will be live tweeting throughout Battleground this up and coming Sunday and a Review and Reactions post or the pay per view will be uploaded the following day. In the coming weeks it is going to become more clear as to what I will be doing in regards to predictions, review, and Highlight posts for RAW and Smackdown shows when the brand split happens. At the moment I'm planning on writing both RAW and Smackdown Reviews or highlight posts every week with slight changes depending on how tired I am or how busy I am on that week. As always any recent blog posts will be linked bellow including my most recent RAW Review. And finally, you can let me know what your predictions are for this and every other match on the card by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.

One of the greatest rivalries in professional wrestling today is without a doubt Sami Zayn VS Kevin Owens. With a long, interesting history behind them these two superstars have been followed each other in their careers and in recent years the pair have collided in some of the greatest matches of the past decade. Dating back to their NXT days these two have been bashing heads in a rivalry that has delivered time and time again. This weekend however their story will come to an end as the two collide one last time at the Battleground pay per view before both head their separate ways in the WWE.

Once best friends, these two superstars have a huge history together. Travelling around the world, Owens and Zayn competed in several independent promotions together and as a result of spending so much time together the pair grew close and Zayn even attended Owens' wedding several years back. However, fast forward a couple of years back and the seeds were officially being planted for something much bigger to go down between them. With Zayn signing with the WWE before Owens there was a bitterness in Owens and when he finally arrived in NXT he seeked revenge and what better way to get revenge than to take Zayn's NXT Championship away from him and that is exactly what he did. Leaving a huge impact Owens became a dominate champion and force in the NXT. Both championship matches between the two saw Kevin take full control and dominate Zayn in a way the NXT universe had never seen before. Owens then took responsibility for injuring Sami's should witch put him on the shelf for several months. Upon his return Zayn made a huge impact shocking the WWE universe by entertaining the Royal Rumble match and eliminating Owens. The two have been feuding ever since and this weekend they will finally put an end to what has been one of the greatest rivalries of the past decade. But who walks away the victor?

Sami Zayn is the ultimate underdog. He's an easy superstar to get behind and support throughout every feud. The perfect baby face who you can't help but back regardless of his opponents. Going back to the NXT days and during this feud it was Zayn the fans were backing one hundred percent. A true NXT veteran and face of the roster he was the one fans were cheering for and he used that to his advantage in both his feud with Owens and every other rivalry he found himself in. Since getting his call up to the main roster Zayn has struggled to get that same passionate response from the main roster crowds. Sure he remains a fan favourite and people absolutely love him but in comparison to the reaction and the passion he would generate and pick up from the fans over in NXT it just doesn't stand up. People to take to star like Owens because he is just so difficult to dislike and that comes because of how brilliant he is at his job. If the fans were a touch more split down the middle and Zayn was getting the reaction he got when he was down in NXT than their feud on the main roster would have been that much stronger and so in that sense it has been a touch disappointing. I do think that now more people are aware of Zayn and have had the time to understand what he is all about and get behind him the crowd are more split than they were back at the start of the year witch only works in their favour.

On the contrary, Kevin Owens is the perfect heel. While slightly older fans love Kevin Owens much more he comes across as the ultimate heel. He knows just how to get under the skin of the fans, the superstars and the commentary team. His mic work is nothing short of brilliant and his charisma makes everything eh does that much better. Not to mention that his in ring capabilities are just phenomenal. His character has been on of the key factors in this story and has really made this entire thing. Since his early days in NXT up to the present day we have seen such huge character development from Owens and those changes mean that there has been slightly differences in their feud as it has developed.

Here is a match that featured both Sami and Owens that has been included in my top ten matches of the year so far:
I know that number three is a very popular choice amongst wrestling fans for two thousand and sixteen match of the year. It has without a doubt been one of the best matches of the year so far and it had to feature in this post today! I just like everyone else loved this match. It had everything you could possibly want and ask for in a professional wrestling match. We had four extremely talented superstars all having a great deal of experience and all bringing something different to the table. This was a true bunch of different characters all coming together to take part in what was a brilliant match and an easy candidate for potential match of the year. I found myself completely hooked on the action right from the very start and I honestly did not take my eyes off the screen for a single second. This was the a showcase of the mid card roster that no one will be forgetting any time soon. They all proved that they could easily main event any live specail putting on the match of the night without a fail. Everyone I spoke to was backing a different superstar and I remember watching this and honestly not knowing who was going to walk away with the victory and it only made it that much more interesting and entertaining to watch. We had so much chemistry between all four superstars, we had outside work from Maryse, serious character from all four men, and insane spots left right and centre. How could I not include this match in my top ten?!

This truly has been one of my favourite feuds of the past decade and I don't doubt for a single second that in ten/twenty years time I'm sitting back and telling everyone how this was one of my all time favourite feuds in professional wrestling. It has everything you could ask for and over the past couple of years really has delivered. But all good things must come to and end and after so long there really is nothing more the WWE can do between these two and it's time for their rivalry  to come to an end.The two superstars have given it everything they possibly can and this final match is sure to be one no one will want to miss! We know from previous matches that these two can deliver
phenomenal matches.  They have done it time and time again both in and outside of the WWE. I of course am expecting this final match to live up to all previous matches and possible go down as the best they have had against one another. I know there are so many people that are completely over this feud and I totally get that but one last big ending is just perfect and I personally cannot wait to watch this come to a dramatic end after following it for so long. I honestly do not have a single clue as to who will be talking out the winner of this match. It really is anyone's game. Either of these superstars could walk out the victor it just comes down to how the WWE want to tie this feud in all together. I'm hopeing that we get to see these two really go at it for a lengthy amount of time. They deserve to be given the time to shine and conclude the story perfectly. I do think the WWE are going to go with Zayn as the winner just because of how the story started and to have the classic story of the underdog coming up on top but again, it really could go any way and make perfect sense.

As usual I will be live tweeting throughout the Battleground pay per view this up and coming Sunday. You can let me know what your predictions are for this match and every other match on the card by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.
