Battleground Predictions: The New Day VS The Wyatt Family

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good! This Sunday live on the WWE Network the two thousand and sixteen annual Battleground pay per view will air and with a dream match main event this sure is one not to miss! Throughout the week I will be uploading individual prediction posts for every single match on the card. As usual I will be taking an in depth look at the matches announced for the show and writing up full length predictions for you to reach to get everyone thinking about the pay per view and get even more excited for the entire show. Now, of course with the brand split happening in a couple of weeks time is does make it difficult this time round to write prediction posts but I'm gonna try my best and work around the brand split, talking how that huge change will effect each match on the card. It's gonna be a long week so I hope you ready and excited for these posts. I as usual will be live tweeting throughout Battleground this up and coming Sunday and a Review and Reactions post or the pay per view will be uploaded the following day. In the coming weeks it is going to become more clear as to what I will be doing in regards to predictions, review, and Highlight posts for RAW and Smackdown shows when the brand split happens. At the moment I'm planning on writing both RAW and Smackdown Reviews or highlight posts every week with slight changes depending on how tired I am or how busy I am on that week. As always any recent blog posts will be linked bellow including my most recent RAW Review. And finally, you can let me know what your predictions are for this and every other match on the card by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.

Upon their return to the WWE the Wyatt Family named their new victims, setting their sights on the WWE Tag Team Champions, the new day. From comedic promos performed by the New Day to a dramatic, brutal showdown at the Wyatt compound this is a feud that has gone from one extreme to another and this weekend live on the WWE Network these two dominate teams will collide in a huge six man tag team match that you will not want to miss!

It has been one interesting year for the Wyatt Family. With both Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper suffering injuries and storyline's changing left right and centre this dominate, promising team has suffered a huge knock and the most disappointing part of the whole thing was that this was not the start of their downfall. Thanks to poor booking and repetitive storyline's these four superstars have struggled massively and while loyal fans remain just that there are plenty who have grown bored of the same old same old from the Wyatt family. The pure fact that the WWE seem to be incapable of of putting these guys over and giving them a victory at the end of a feud has been their biggest problem over the past year in particular. But with talent and potential like this and the fan support these guys have it is never to late to turn things around and this brand new feud with the hottest tag team in all of the WWE is exactly what they need.

The Wyatt Family did take a great deal of time off away from TV and in all honesty it is exactly what they needed. I mentioned in previous blog posts that taking them of TV for a while would do them a world of good and despite needing a storyline to bring them back to life a little absence makes the heart grow fonder and the time away would be perfect for them all and would help creative come up with new and exciting ideas for them. Now, before they did take some time away we were led to believe that the WWE were finally turning Bray Wyatt and his allies baby face, a move that would have gone down well with hardcore fans. There is no doubt that they make fantastic heels. Throughout their early days int he WWE these guys brought something new and haunting and their feud with Daniel Bryan was without a doubt a highlight of the entire career of the Wyatt family and the one feud that made us all realise just how villainous they are. Now, while I would have loved to have seen the WWE do something a little different with the Wyatt family and go down the road of booking them as baby faces this brand new feud with the New Day takes us right back to their early days. It genuinely gives you that "this is awesome" feel and highlights them as monster, bad ass heels. The New Day have been three of the biggest baby faces in the WWE for a very long time and so anyone who wishes to target them is going to come across like solid heel but the pick of the Wyatt family has just taken things to a whole new level. There is without a doubt similarities in this feud to the Daniel Bryan VS Bray Wyatt storyline a couple of years ago and that was a story that worked so so well for both Bray Wyatt and the Wyatt family faction altogether and so far this tag team feud has really been up there. I will admit that at first I was not the biggest fan of these two teams colliding. I expressed both on twitter and here on my blog that I felt as though this wouldn't help the Wyatt's as much as it needed to but I could not have been more wrong. This has been exactly what they needed!

There is no doubt about, the New Day have been the most dominate tag team on the main roster for well over a year. Competing in highlight matches and feuds, delivering fantastic promos and segments and holding onto the tag team championships for almost a year, no one has been able to touch them and there is no other team in the WWE that could match what these guys have done in the past twelve months or so. Growing in popularity more and more these guys have gone from the average Joe team to one in a million and will for sure go down one day as one of the greatest tag teams in WWE history. Throughout their reign as champions we have seen them step in the ring with any and every tag team the WWE main roster has to offer, from the Usos to the Dudley Boyz to Enzo and Cass and The Vaudevillians, no team has been able to get past the New Day and take away their gold/bronze and no one has been able to take away their momentum. Capturing the titles from the Prime Time Players all the way back in August last year the New Day have been nothing but dominate and in control, up until this very moment where a true threat hangs over them, can the New Day survive the Wyatt Family?

The feud between the New Day and the Wyatt Family is something very very different for the New Day. The WWE are going somewhere completely new and different for the tag team champions and so far it has worked fantastically well. I know there are plenty of people who haven't liked certain parts of this feud witch I will get into a little more later on but I as someone who was not a fan at the start can honestly sit here and say this is one of my favourite storyline's in the WWE today. There is plenty of room for this story to develop and there really is loads the WWE can do here. Both these teams are brilliant at telling stories and that is what makes these guys so special and genuinely makes them stand out from the rest. There's a reason the New Day have been able to keep hold of the tag team titles for so long even when new fresh teams have made their way up to the main roster and challenge them. There's a reason fans all around the world at all ages love these guys and their ability to put on a great show and tell a story has played such a huge role. This storyline is very different for these guys, we all know that. The feel is completely different to anything we have seen them compete in since they were formed. Their very positive, comedic and light hearted attitude the champs posses has been put to the test and the more the feud has gone on the more we have seen the team as a whole put under pressure. We have seen a far more serious and intense side to the New Day and Xavier in particular has been a key factor in the whole story and the future of the story also.

This is a feud that really has divided opinions. When I speak to people and take a look on twitter there are some people that love this feud and some people that hate it, I personally happen to be someone that really has loved the entire thing. There has never been a clear distinct reason as to why the Wyatt family are targeting the New Day but to be fair when do they have a reason to target anyone. The more we have seen however the clearer the Wyatt's motives have been. I have loved that they have decided to target Xavier in particular. As the spokesman of the New Day and arguably the most vocal member of the New Day the Wyatt Family have pointed him out as the weakest member of the New Day. We have seen Woods look far more scared and intimidated by  Bray Wyatt and the rest of the Wyatt Family and segments and interviews have shown him to be most effected by the words and actions of the Wyatt Family. The fact that the WWE have gone down this root allows this story really to develop more after this huge six man tag team match. We also have to talk about last weeks episode of Monday night RAW where the WWE showed the New Day visiting the Wyatt Family compound. Again, this really has divided opinion. Some people loved it and some people really didn't like it. Personally, I thought this was brilliant. I spoke about it loads last week and I will link the post where I spoke about this in more detail but I really really liked this. I know it's clear to see where the WWE got their inspiration from, the scenes were identical to a certain TNA  match witch took place very recently but I thought this was great. It was the perfect way to highlight a new and even darker side to the Wyatt family and added just that little more to this story and it only made
this even more must see and entertaining.

Personally, I cannot wait for this match. I think it has every chance of being one of the strongest matches of the night and an easy steal the show match. We have to very very different teams. We have such contrasting characters here and that really does make this even more interesting and entertaining to watch. Now, I am fining it really difficult to choose a side to root for. I'm such a big fan of both of these teams and so it's almost impossible to pick a winning team but I think I'm going to have to go for the Wyatt Family. They do need a win far more than the New Day do and if the WWE have plans on doing more with this feud than the best option will be to go for the Wyatt picking up the victory. I do think this match would have been more exciting if there was an extreme rules stipulation but like I said, I do think this is going to be a stand out match this weekend.

As usual I will be live tweeting throughout the Battleground pay per view this up and coming Sunday. You can let me know what your predictions are for this match and every other match on the card by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.
