10 Matches We Want to See at the Evolution Pay Per View (Part 1)

This past Monday on RAW Stephanie McMahon alongside husband Triple H and father Vince McMahon made a huge announcement set to take the women’s evolution to a whole new level. With rumors surfacing across the internet as to what the announcement would be it was revealed that the first ever all women’s Pay Per View. Set to take place on October twenty-eighth the historic event will see the RAW, Smackdown LIVE, and NXT Women’s championship will be on the line along with the finals of the Mae Young Classic! There is, of course, plenty of discussion regarding what matches we will see take place and below I have listed the first five of ten of my personal favourite picks! Keep in mind more content focused on this event will be uploaded in the coming weeks!

The IIconics vs The Bella Twins

Many including myself did genuinely believe that the announcement we were going to hear this past Monday was going to in fact reveal the introduction of tag team championships in the women’s division, topic fans have been discussing for a very long time now! While that announcement may not have been made there is still a potential for the titles to be introduced ahead of the pay per view, however, if not we can still expect to see at least one must-see tag team matchup at the Evolution pay per view. The most consistent and one of the most popular female duos of right now is, of course, the IIconics. Their NXT run showed fantastic potential and fans have been waiting to see them pushed even further; the Evolution PPV gives Peyton and Billie the chance to stand out and create something new in the women’s division and what better way to do that then put them face to face against the Bella Twins. Nikki and Brie may not be the best in-ring performers in the world, but they are in fact a huge part of the women’s evolution and a tag team match involving them can elevate the IIconics and further push the idea of women’s tag team titles in the future.

Becky Lynch vs Asuka

Looking at the Smackdown LIVE women’s division its clear that one of the biggest, best, and most promising matches they can provide for the Evolution pay per view in October is Becky Lynch vs Asuka. Exploring the idea of a heel Asuka is one the WWE should slowly start considering but there if there is one thing the majority of fans can agree on its that Becky Lynch must have a standout moment. Recent episodes of Smackdown LIVE have shown signs of Lynch possibly getting a push very soon and a title match between Becky and Asuka down the line is a must! The pair can easily bring out the best in one another and the genuine love for Lynch will give fans something to really cheer for.

Mickie James vs Trish Stratus

A collision between two all-time greats is something this pay per view needs. Fans of all ages must be given a genuine reason to purchase tickets and or tune into the show itself and the best way to ensure that happens is acknowledge the stars of the past. The Evolution pay per view must be a showcase of the past, present, and future and one of the best rivalries in the history of the WWE Women’s division is, of course, Mickie James vs Trish Stratus. The pair briefly re-lived their heated rivalry back in January in the first ever women’s Royal Rumble match and with James further teasing the match this is a one on one a pay per view of any sorts in twenty eighteen could massively benefit from!

Natalya vs Ronda Rousey (RAW Women’s Championship)

To be honest, I’ve been pretty surprised to see the WWE not turn Natalya heel and have her challenge Ronda Rousey, but the announcement of the Evolution pay per view opens doors for just that. Rousey is sure to walk out of Summer Slam the RAW Women’s champion and while Ronda vs Charlotte is the biggest main event the WWE could create for this event, however, something tells me they may just want to save that for something even bigger and that is a rivalry best to keep on a future mania card and not force too soon. Natalya vs Rousey is a matchup that makes sense. The two are close friends yet since her arrival it's all been about Ronda despite Nattie’s far greater experience. Natalya finally cracking and turning on Rousey is inevitable and it's clear the two could deliver one heck of a matchup that could elevate this special event to new heights!

Sasha Banks vs Bayley

One of the best matches we have ever seen from the WWE Women’s division and women’s wrestling was the content we saw between Sasha Banks and Bayley during their time in NXT. Admitted, their main roster work hasn’t even scratched the surface of what we previously witnessed go down between these two, however, their remains a strong demand from fans to see the pair go one on one yet again. Despite poor storytelling, there are no denying Banks and Bayley could easily work a killer match likely to take home a WWE match of the year candidate title, not to mention there is still time to save this storyline!

And that is part one! Next week I will be uploading part two of this blog post where I will be listing five more matches we would love to see at the first ever all women’s pay per view, Evolution! Feel free to let me know what matches you would like to see on the card by leaving a comment below or by tweeting me over at @TezangiVictoria 😊.
