Predicting the Next 12 Months For Current NXT Champions

The NXT roster is stacked! After a rough patch, the black and yellow brand is back on top and the future looks very promising. As of right now, we have four strong champions leading the roster, however, in twelve months’ time the landscape of NXT will look very different to how it does right now including new title holders, new faces, and brand new hot rivalries and storylines; and so, in today’s article we are going to be taking a look at those four current champions and predicting where they will be this time next year in the build to Summer Slam twenty nineteen.

This post was pre-posted and so some information may be dated

Adam Cole

We kick start by looking at the still very new North America championship and title holder, Adam Cole. Now, Cole is by far one of the most promising NXT talents with a bright bright future ahead of him. Leading a new era as well as one of the most interesting factions in the WWE today, the Undisputed Era, all eyes are on Adam Cole and so far he has proven to be an excellent choice to take the title of the first-ever NXT North America Champion. Defending the title around the world Cole is a brilliant representation of what the championship is supposed to mean and its place in NXT. While he hasn’t yet been in the position to hold the NXT Championship this title allows him to establish himself as one of the must-see talents on the roster. It’s a stepping stone and sets him up for something much bigger in the future.

There are plenty of options awaiting Adam Cole and there is no denying that in twelve months’ time he will be at the top of wherever he is whether it be NXT or the main roster. Personally, I do believe that he could get the call-up. Keep in mind Cole was added to this year's Royal Rumble and the WWE have shown to be high on both him and The Undisputed Era. As long as there is a place and a story for him Cole will find himself apart of the main roster In twelve months’ time. As of right now, it’s RAW that are missing a solid faction and building up to Summer Slam next year I would love to see a Shield vs Undisputed Era contest as a key match on the card. We can also explore the idea of a major feud with a current top talent including names such as Jeff Hardy, Drew McIntyre, and Daniel Bryan, however, if Cole finds himself still a part of NXT than the NXT Championship will most certainly around his waist.

Kyle O’Riley & Roderick Strong

Keeping on the theme of the Undisputed Era and we focus our attention on the tag team division. Now, this time next year we will most certainly be watching brand new champions take over the NXT tag team division and the two men who take on the role as favourites for that position at this point are War Raiders. We can expect the new team to find their feet soon and edge closer to becoming tag team champions in the coming months and a lengthy title reign is sure to follow them. As for the current champions in Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Riley the future looks just as bright for them. Sure, to follow Cole up to the main roster at some point in twenty nineteen the pair will most certainly find themselves making an impact on the bigger stage. Cole will most likely take a great deal of the spotlight but with O’Riley, Strong, and a returning Bobby Fish equally as talented these guys have a lot to bring to the table.

I’m expecting to see the Undisputed Era up on the main roster ahead of Summer Slam twenty nineteen with a potential debut at the actual pay per view. Interfering in the main event would be a brilliant way to introduce the dominant team to the main roster as they look to kick-start a new Era on either Monday night RAW or Smackdown LIVE.

Shayna Baszler

The WWE has wasted no time placing former MMA star at the top of the WWE Women’s division. In under a year, Baszler has found her self as the top dog in the locker room and the NXT Women’s champion with no signs of her momentum slowing down. She’s one talent whose future with the company is looking very strong and really does write itself. With Rousey as well as the rest of the Four Horsewomen of MMA officially signing with the WWE it’s only a matter of time before these women collide with the four horsewomen of the WWE. It’s rumored that Rousey and Charlotte Flair could main event next years Wrestlemania pay per view and it would make sense for their rivalry to find light again in the Summer where that eight-woman tag team match could very well take place.
Whether this is a match we see or not Baszler is very likely to also find herself up on the main roster possibly following Wrestlemania or even sooner. She’s a strong character with so many potential storylines and already there is so much waiting for her on the bigger stage.

Aleister Black

And finally, we have the current NXT Champion Aleister Black. Black is by far one of the most interesting and all round entertaining characters with an unpredictable future ahead of him. He’s a talent who is bringing something very different to the table from general appearance to in-ring style and character and as a result, he remains a superstar I’m very interested and intrigued when it comes to his future.  Because of this, it’s difficult predicting exactly where he will be in twelve months’ time, however, just like everyone else we have mentioned today, the main roster appears to be exactly where he should be.

A slot on the Smackdown LIVE roster at this moment appears to be the best place for him and a land full of so many opportunities. He’s a star the WWE will either push right to the top and given a very quick major storyline for the WWE Championship or center around a slow build creating a major star out of him. Now, I don’t personally believe it will be the main event we will see Aleister in this time next year, however, a highlight match of the night at Summer Slam does appear to be far more likely. It’s feuds and storylines against the likes of including Randy Orton, Triple H, and John Cena who all sport and stand something completely different as well as collisions with likes of Baron Corbin and Eric Young who fall under a similar bracket as Black himself.

It’s evident that the four current title holders in NXT are destined for a bright future and it’s likely that the Summer of twenty nineteen will see all four up on the main roster kick-starting brilliant WWE careers.
