This Weeks RAW Highlights

This up and coming Sunday fans will witness the two thousand and eighteen Extreme Rules pay per view take place and we have one stacked and rather interesting night ahead as we edge even closer to the second biggest event on the wrestling calendar, Summer Slam. In today’s blog post we are going to be taking a look back at this week’s episode of Monday night RAW and discussing the best and worse moments in this week’s special go home show! Don’t forget that this Friday we will also be looking at my full Extreme Rules predictions!

Bobby Lashley vs Roman Reigns is a Must See

This week’s episode of Monday night RAW kick-started with a heavy focus on the up and coming singles match between Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley. Now, while I may not have initially been the biggest fan of this rivalry I’ve got to admit that the video package aired by the WWE last night did sway my opinions massively! With Lashley telling Reigns to his face to call him out in the ring the two put the mic aside unlike the previous week and an all our brawl resulted in the male Locke room forced to break up the action. While this is something we probably see too often in the WWE nowadays it did work. The video package alone really put some emphasis on their story and made it feel as though their rivalry made much more sense but the physical collision we saw kick start this week's RAW gave fans an insight as to what to expect this weekend. This is a battle between two men who want their hands-on Brock Lesnar and a Universal Championship match, however, this rivalry is also about ego and proving who exactly is the guy in the WWE today. Solid segments and promos as well as what we saw last night have contributed to why and so many more can honestly say they are excited about this up and coming match up!

Some things Just Don’t make Sense…

While I did very much enjoy the pull-apart brawl between Lashley and Roman Reigns there were a few moments during that segment that just didn’t make sense and while these little things can seem so petty to point out I have to take this time today to vent some of my frustrations about little things that did annoy me during the show this week for the sheer reason… it just didn’t make sense. The first goes back to that opening brawl; of course, the entire locker room coming out to break apart two of the most dominant men on the roster makes sense however when you are in the middle of building a destructive tag team who “will destroy anyone in their path” come out and break up a brawl it just doesn’t work. I’m sure many didn’t even notice nor pay attention but its these little details that do count! It may seem like a petty thing to point out but its those little details that come into play in the long run and when trying to build and develop characters!

Another moment that also didn’t sit well with me is also something we see done fairly often and that’s pay per view ads shown mid-match. Again, something rather minor, the idea of advertising your up and coming pay per view in the middle of a match is an idea that personally I strongly dislike. I tune into wrestling to watch wrestling and while advertising a major event is important as is showcasing the talent on the roster and focusing on the in-ring action especially when a champion is involved!

Should we Keep a Close Eye on Mojo Rawley?

Longtime readers and Twitter followers of mine will know I have never been a Mojo Rawley fan, in fact, I’ve probably been his biggest “hater”. From character to work to storyline’s, I’ve simply never been interested in anything he has been a part of. However, with that being said, Mojo has always shown potential to some degree. His size and sheer dominance really does to a certain extent allow him to stand out, yet the task is much more difficult when the roster and the wrestling world is so stacked and full of high expectations! In recent weeks he has yet again sported a darker and more intense attitude and I’ve got to say I like it. Taking out No Way Jose wasn’t a big step forward, but it did add to his momentum this week and while we won’t be seeing a title reign anytime soon I do believe we should be keeping a close eye on Mojo Rawley in the coming weeks and months!

It’s Beyond Disappointing

I’ve said it a million times already, but nothing has left me more disappointed than what we have seen between Sasha Banks and Bayley. With their NXT rivalry moving the women’s evolution to new heights fans have always wanted to see a part two of their feud on the main roster and the expectations have always been high, however, it’s been clear for months that the WWE have failed these two and what was once a must-see rivalry. Now, a future match between them could easily steal any show given they are provided with enough time to compete, however, the story is just weak. We don’t know who exactly we are supposed to cheer, we haven’t gotten the Boss we know and love, and the segments and promos have felt weak, forced, and aimed an audience I can’t even identify at this point. Such a shame, it’s extremely disappointing to see these two failed at such a scale.

Monday Night Rollins Continues

There really is no denying the fact that Seth Rollins is the man over on Monday night RAW. He is by far the most consistent star, he’s extremely over, and the quality of his in-ring work is above the majority of the roster. On this week’s episode of RAW Rollins continued to steal the spotlight in a solid and entertaining segment involving Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre which resulted in another standout singles match for Rollins where he this time faced off against Drew McIntyre. This was by far one of the best matches and segments of the night and further pushes the idea that Rollins is the man to top on Monday night RAW right now.

This week’s episode of RAW was an interesting one. While the match quality wasn’t the best I did find myself entertained throughout. The Ironman match and Rollins vs Lashley were by far the best built, however, considering this was a go home show I was disappointed to see the storyline’s involved ahead of Extreme Rules built so poorly this week! Later in the week, I will be uploading a full prediction post as well as an in-depth look at the honest thoughts regarding Monday night RAW!
