Five Superstars Who Could Dethrone AJ Styles

The most recent WWE Pay per view saw AJ Styles successfully defend the WWE Championship in an excellent one on one contest against Rusev. During that match, it was highlighted that AJ Styles is now one of the longest reigning WWE Champions in recent memory and the historic milestone for the phenomenal one has got fans talking as the questions regarding who will dethrone AJ Styles arises stronger than ever. Today, we have a list of five potential names that could see themselves as the new WWE Champion.

Daniel Bryan

While he may have spent the past month working strongly as part of the Smackdown LIVE Tag Team division  Daniel Bryan remains a favourite in terms of the next WWE champion. Since his return to in action, Bryan has been building momentum but his career has taken an interesting and controversial turn. Many did expect to see Styles drop the title to Nakamura to ease into Bryan vs Shinsuke at some point which of course would have made for a huge must-see bout, however, Styles remains the champion and Bryan half involved in the tag team division and his feud with the Miz heating up. With things taking a slightly unexpected turn it does put Bryan in an awkward position as we await the right time for him to ease into the championship picture. It may take slightly longer than many wanted but there is no denying that Bryan vs Styles for the WWE Championship is a true must see and many do believe its only a matter of time before the leader of the Yes movement becomes WWE Champion once again.

Andrade Cien Almas

A slightly less realistic pick here but we must not forget just how much of a talented star Andrade Cien Almas is and how much potential he truly possesses. During his time NXT it did take him a while to really find his way and make an impact but once aligned with Zelina Vega there really was no stopping Almas. Working a five-star rated match amongst many other must-see Andrade is a hot up and comer who brings so much excitement to the table. While he may currently not be working a truly captivating story he’s talent is still there and its only a matter of time until we see much more of him. A one on one between Almas and Styles makes for a damn strong must see and with Jinder Mahal can hold the WWE Championship then there should be nothing stopping the WWE from making a bold and surprising decision to put the title on the recently debuted, Andrade Cien Almas.

The Miz

My personal favourite pick in today’s blog post has got to be the Miz. I know I’ve said it a million times before but in recent years there really hasn’t been anyone I’ve been more impressed and entertained by in the WWE than the Miz. Cemented as one of the best Intercontinental Champions of all time as well as a standout singles match against Seth Rollins earlier on in the year The Miz is at the top of his game and has been for a while; with that in mind so many have pointed out now is the right time to give the Miz a massive push and consider putting the WWE Championship around his waist. Now is by far the right time for him and of course, it will open up doors for that feud between him and Bryan we have all been waiting to see more of hopefully around Mania next year! Wishful thinking?

Jeff Hardy

Again, this may seem like wishful thinking but with the United States Championship no longer in his possession, there is nothing stopping Jeff Hardy from making his way into the main event scene and focusing on the WWE Championship. Since returning to the WWE fans have wanted to see Hardy pushed to the top and now is the opportunity we have all been waiting for. We already know Hardy and Styles have plenty in common thanks to their collisions with Shinsuke Nakamura but again there is no denying a singles bout between Jeff and AJ is something that will please so many fans of all ages. Hardy is a huge favourite for the next WWE champion and an interesting step forward. Hardy makes for a very different kind of champion and can bring something very new to the blue brand as the new face that runs the place.

Samoa Joe

And finally, another big-time fan favourite in Samoa Joe this is a man a lot of people are desperate to see as WWE champion and I can totally see why! Consistent, dominant, over and massively respected Joe has been sitting back waiting for this kind of opportunity watching so many take the spot he has always deserved. Joe would, of course, make for an excellent WWE champion and a satisfying one at that. The jump from Styles to Joe as champ is huge with both sporting a very different character and attitude switching things up on the blue brand. Joe is worthy and so deserving of this title and position and he too is one so many are sitting back and waiting to see him finally given that big push.

And there we go, those are just five names I believe could go on to dethrone AJ Styles but who would you include in this list? Leave a comment below or drop me a tweet over at @TezangiVictoria letting me know! 😊
