Match Recommendations: June

It’s Friday which means it once again time to take a look at five of my personal match recommendations. For anyone that has been reading my blog for long enough, you will know that these are one of my favourite posts to write! It’s here I get to talk about plenty of matches I probably wouldn’t get a chance to talk about here on my blog otherwise. Matches from either yesterday, last week, last month, last year or even twenty years ago can pop up in this blog post and today we have five brand new matches to address!

Tenille Dashwood Vs Angelina Love

Personally, I do believe that Tenille Dashwood’s standout match not only since her departure with the WWE but quite possible of her entire career has been against Angelina Love. While the two had never met in the ring before this date they managed to work extremely well together matching one another perfectly. Even throughout the match, it was rare one was in control of the action for a great deal of time before the other had a counter waiting just around the corner. Identical in size, skill, and use of mind games the two women delivered a brilliant one on one contest full of solid spots and storytelling that left the match genuinely feeling like the main event and big attraction of the night. It was difficult to tell who exactly would walk away with the victory and after several close calls, those final moments perfectly concluded what was quite possibly one of the best matches women’s wrestling has seen.

Alexa Bliss vs Sasha Banks vs Natalya vs Ember Moon

By far one of if not my favourite match to come from the WWE women’s division this year the fatal four way between Alexa Bliss, Sasha Banks, Nataly and Ember Moon is a for sure must see! Four of the most popular, talented, and strongest characters in all the WWE’s women’s division these girls went out and provided fans with the best match of the night ahead of the Money in the Bank pay per view. Looking to prove a point and gain momentum they all had an excellent showing and it was genuinely difficult to point out who exactly was going to score the victory. So many close calls, so many submissions, and so often we saw the momentum shift. The fight and competitive competition were more evident than ever before. With such strong action, there really was no talent who stood out more than anyone else, they were all so equal and all left the WWE universe wondering who could really walk out as Miss Money in the Bank out of these four women. A brilliant showing for the division these girls really did raise the bar!

Kyle O’Riley vs Pete Dunne

Its been a while since I last included an NXT contest in a match recommendations post despite the strong performances we have continued to see week in and week out from the roster; however, it was a recent bout between Kyle O’Riley and Pete Dunne for the United Kingdom Championship that really stood out. Two brilliant grapplers, this was always a contest destined to impress. We have two of the most promising and gifted in-ring performers in the wrestling world today and whether it be ten minutes or thirty minutes, these guys were always sure to deliver one heck of a matchup. Squaring off in the main event match of the night Dunne and O’Riley took part in an excellent showcase of modern day wrestling. This is exactly what audiences want to see and while we didn’t get a whole deal of “flippy shit” the match showed everything you can ask for in a professional wrestling contest and fans were left completely hooked. While it was evident Dunne was going to retain the championship the close calls, hard hits, and sheer standard of the action left everyone on the edge of their seats.

Jimmy Havoc vs Jinny

Seriously, the moment you finish reading this post you must go and check out the one on one contest between Jimmy Havoc and Jinny. I’ll admit I wasn’t very aware of the work of Jinny and I was surprised by this fact after tuning into this match. Now, unlike the other bouts we will be talking about today this wasn’t a showcase of phenomenal technical wrestling but instead a fight between two intense rising stars. Havoc, of course, had the experience advantage which was clearly on show throughout this match but let’s not put anything past Jinny who held her own extremely well, had the crowd support and gave one of Wrestling’s most extreme stars a run for his money. It also must be mentioned the videography and quality of this overall video were fantastic! Leaving a real movie feel to the matchup.

Toni Storm vs Tenille Dashwood

Toni Storm has one heck of a career ahead of her. At only twenty-two years old she is raising the bar and setting the standards and in a one on one contest against Tenille Dashwood, she proved that point once again, however, let’s not forget about Dashwood herself. The two young women squared off in what an intense, physical contest, jam-packed full of brilliant wrestling. It was here Dashwood really did show the world that she is worthy of being considered as one of the best female wrestlers on the scene today. Holding her own against a multi-time world champion the two were evenly matched throughout and in return, fans were left genuinely hooked from start to finish. This is only one of two matches on today’s list where we didn’t see Tenille pick up the victory but it’s, in fact, this bout that has been the most revealing and important since her departure with the WWE.

And those are this week’s match recommendations! As always, any recent blog post will be linked below and you can get involved and tell me what matches you would recommend down in the comments below or drop me a tweet over at @TezangiVictoria.
