Why This Weeks RAW and Smackdown LIVE Are Worth Watching

Last week for the first time in a long time I wrote two separate reviews looking at the action from both RAW and Smackdown LIVE and I have to say that I did really enjoy writing those! Both shows left fans with plenty to discuss and the exact same thing can be said this week! I can honestly say that I enjoyed watching both shows again this week and so here I am with a little look back at the action from the past couple of days. We may not have separate posts on each show, but a combined piece is just as good! So, let's jump right into it!

The Build to a Evolution

With the first ever all women’s pay per view getting closer by the day its become evident that the WWE is focusing on this historic event massively securing a solid build-up ensuring they grab the attention of fans and encourage the WWE to tune in in October. The past week alone has seen The Bella Twins, Maryse, and Trish Stratus make on-screen WWE returns, all of which are rumored and confirmed to be apart of the Evolution pay per view. With Stratus set to challenge Alexa Bliss and Nikki Bella rumored to take on Ronda Rousey for the RAW women’s championship we are starting to see the foundation set and the seeds planted for what is looking to be a must-see show. This week Trish’s return confronting Elias as well as her involvement in a women’s match later in the night was one of the biggest moments this week on RAW while the Bella Twins also remained a big talking point.

What’s Next for Kevin Owens?

My personal favourite WWE match of the week so far has without a shadow of a doubt been the IC title bout between Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens. As two of the WWE strongest characters and in-ring performers, fans are promised a must see, entertaining, strong wrestling contest whenever the two share a ring and this was no different. The match was a highlight of the night but with a broken-down Kevin Owens sitting in the ring after the match he announced he has quit Monday night RAW after another big loss. This was such an interesting and unexpected twist in Owens story and character but in all honesty, it’s what he needed. His storyline work has been a little weaker recently and while it was great to see him in a big match this week he needed that big talking point towards the end of the segment.

More content regarding Kevin Owens will be uploaded soon

Braun Strowman Finds Friends

After fans witnessed the Shield reunite during last week’s episode of Monday night RAW fans speculated just who Braun Strowman would align himself within efforts to even up the numbers. With many (including myself) wanting to see former partners Luke Harper and Bray Wyatt team up once again with the monster among men to create a dream six-man tag team match, however, while that decision makes sense and would have gone down a treat with fans it was aligning himself with Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler that fans witnessed this week on RAW.  After turning on Reigns to find new friends in McIntyre and Ziggler in this week’s main event the plot thickened and in an up and coming blog post, I will discuss whether this was the right decision.

Storyline’s and Feuds Heat Up

Moving over to Smackdown LIVE and I’ve got to say that I probably enjoyed the action from the blue brand just that tad bit more than RAW this week. I felt as though we got some excellent progress in terms of fresh new storylines and the feuds we have been seeing develop over the past month or so. The night closed with Becky Lynch standing tall once again after attacking Charlotte Flair following a main event women’s championship match. The crowd was fully behind Becky once again in one of the biggest crowd reactions of the night as expected. I will be talking in more detail about the rivalry because it is one of my current favourites but what should be taken from this is the reaction from fans for Lynch!

We also witnessed the Miz and Maryse blindside attack Brie Bella and Daniel Bryan which again was needed. It was massively important the two gained some momentum and again, it must be said just how damn good Maryse looked! I can honestly say I’m genuinely enjoying this rivalry between the Miz and Bryan and the involvement of Maryse and Brie really is an excellent, smart, and sensible root to go down.

A New Direction and Standouts

To conclude this part of the blog post I want to mention how well the tag team division was shown this week with the guys there getting their time to shine, and a spotlight finally being shone on the tag teams. Tag team wrestling really can be phenomenal as proven in the past and its about time these men were given this kind of direction.
It also must be pointed out how strong the segment involving King Booker and the New Day was providing fans with light humoured entertainment for all ages as well as the excellent performance from Andrade Cien Almas in a standout match against Daniel Bryan, I genuinely would love to see these two clashes in a far longer match in the future!

In all honesty, I really really enjoyed both RAW and Smackdown LIVE this week. Both shows were strong, very entertaining, had some great must-see matches, and brilliant story development. Overall both are most certainly worth watching and you can check back here next week to see what I thought of the latest episodes! 😊
