Eight Potential MITB 2019 Winners

In less than a month one of my personal favourite PPV’s will take place, Money in the Bank, and with the WWE roster more than stacked than it has been in years there truly is an array of potential names who could so easily go on to become Mr and Miss Money in the Bank. Of course, we are yet to learn exactly who will be involved in this year’s men and women’s ladder matches but before the names are revealed in today’s blog post we are going to be looking at eight potential winners the WWE should most certainly consider and we will be discussing the chances these talents have of competing and winning this huge contest.

Ember Moon

We kick start things off by looking at the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match and this year there really are just a few names I believe could and should walk away with the win. Former NXT Women’s champion Ember Moon is no stranger to this matchup competing in her first MITB ladder match last year and while she didn’t take home the win her in-ring style and move set meant she was a brilliant contender in this contest and stood out great. A year later, Moon has continued to go down as both a fan favourite and a massively underrated superstar, however, the move to Smackdown LIVE has opened many opportunities for her and the WWE have the chance of turning things around. It would be great to see a babyface win the women’s MITB this year and Moon is a perfect contender especially considering this step would be huge in the WWE giving her the push deserves and make a true big star out of a talent with serious potential.

Lars Sullivan

Keeping on the theme of former NXT stars one of the biggest names I believe could walk away with the win and become this years Mr Money in the Bank is newcomer Lars Sullivan. We, of course, haven’t seen all too much of Sullivan as of yet with him still yet to compete in a one on one contest on the main roster, however, its no secret the WWE are massively high on Sullivan and after already taking out multiple stars on both RAW and Smackdown LIVE its clear that if placed in this years MITB ladder match he could very easily take the win. This is the perfect opportunity to book a huge surprise win and create a huge star out of this year’s winner.

Bayley

While I personally have never been the biggest Bayley fan, I do believe there is a strong argument to suggest she makes for a great potential winner in this year’s women’s MITB ladder match. In recent months the former women’s champion has looked fantastic in the ring, competing regularly, working a run with the women’s tag team titles and making the move to Smackdown LIVE. Bayley is of course, also massively connected to both Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair and her win at MITB this year could open doors for a four horsewomen championship match in the coming months.

EC3

I recently wrote an article looking at some of the early mistakes the WWE have made with EC3 and looking ahead I believe that considering his star quality, experience, popularity, charisma and skill EC3 is a man the WWE can turn things around with and make a huge star of by booking him to win big at next months PPV. Again, similarly to Sullivan, the top one per cent may not be an obvious win or fan favourite but he is a man ins serious need of this win and out of everyone I’m going to be talking about today he is the talent I believe would benefit the most from taking the win. I would personally love to see Drake Maverik get involved if EC3 is in fact booked in this contest assisting him in the win and kick-starting something very exciting!

Sasha Banks

Former women’s Champion Sasha Banks has found herself involved in many conversations recently with rumours of her wanting to leave the company taking over the wrestling news outlets for the past couple of weeks. There have also been several conversations suggesting that upon her return to the ring Banks will be receiving a huge push and its that little rumour that has left me predicting that she could, in fact, go on to compete in and win this years MITB ladder match. A booking option could see her take out Bayley in a “who attacked Bayley” angle to replace her in the women’s MITB ladder match. She’s a woman who may not need the win as much as other superstars we will be talking about today but it opens the doors for her to finally turn heel and head in a new and much-needed direction that can turn things around for her and put her back on top.

Drew McIntyre

I have no doubt in my mind that former NXT Champion Drew McIntyre will go on to become Universal Champion at some point. He’s a huge favourite to dethrone Rollins and while he may not be getting a title shot this coming PPV he is a name I firmly believe will go on to win gold come the end of the year. Winning this years Money in the Bank ladder match secures this will in fact happen and considering his character work this could be an excellent fit! The win will give McIntyre the bragging rights he needs and give him something extra to work with allowing him to remain a huge talking point, get him involved in major and heated storylines as well as keeping him very close to the main event scene.

Liv Morgan

Okay, so this one may appear to be very random and most likely won’t be a huge fan favourite but hear me out! Liv Morgan is a woman we really haven’t seen enough of and her move to Smackdown LIVE was one I did not see coming at all! I do still very much believe the Riott Squad could have and should have done way more together as a team and had more left to provide, however, Liv most certainly has fantastic potential and when booked correctly she could seriously make an impact. It may be extremely far fetched to suggest she wins this year’s MITB ladder match however, her move set means she could be a real standout in this matchup and the win could really lead to her becoming a major star in the women’s division.

Andrade Cien Almas

And the final name I want to include today is of course, Andrade Cien Almas. Andrade has had such an interesting journey on the main roster so far with standout matches here and there keeping fans talking about this former NXT champion. Now, Andrade is a superstar I believe is likely to dethrone Finn Balor for the IC title but I have to admit that seeing him go on to win both the IC championship and the Money in the Bank Briefcase is something I would love! Andrade has so much potential and his alliance with Zelina Vega means this kind of booking and such a win could go down a real treat and create some very entertaining content in the coming months to a year leaving Andrade potentially becoming one of the most talked about and hyped stars on the blue brand.

And those are eight names I believe could or should go on to win this years MITB ladder matches. There were, of course, other names I considered including The Miz, Braun Strowman and Nikki Cross however, I’m very happy with the superstars I discussed today. The past couple of MITB ladder matches haven’t quite been as a standout or memorable and so this year I really would love and believe its important the winners of both go on to achieve greatness and become huge stars due to this huge win!
