WWE SummerSlam Predictions: Seth Rollins VS Finn Balor

WWE Universal Championship Match
Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good! This up and coming Sunday the WWE will host the two thousand sixteen SummerSlam pay per view live from Brooklyn, New York, the exact same venue as last years event. Following up from Saturday's NXT Takeover live special as per usual the WWE are going to have one heck of a show to follow up with a stacked card full of must see matches this is yet another pay per view you sure as hell do not want to miss out on! Throughout this week I will be uploading a bunch of prediction posts for some of the strongest matches on the card. Now, usually I would have uploaded this post on the actual week of SummerSlam but due to having to also write and upload NXT Takeover posts I have decided to start uploading these posts just a little earlier than usual. Know that most championship matches for SummerSlam will be predicted here on my blog. As usual I will be live tweeting throughout the SummerSlam pay per view and the NXT Takeover live special. It is my birthday this week so there may be a couple of posts uploaded late throughout the week because of doing my own thing but they will be uploaded at some point. I am thinking of running a little live Q and A a couple of hours before both shows so if that is something you would be interested in do let me know and I will sort that out before Sunday. Now, I am pre posting these posts both for SummerSlam and NXT Takeover Brooklyn and so keep in mind while reading these posts that some things may have changed or developed since the day that I wrote the posts. I will however take some time to edit every single one of these posts to try and keep everything up to date and clear. As always any recent blog posts will be linked bellow including my most recent Review and reactions for Monday night RAW, Smackdown Live and of course NXT. Finally, you can let me know what your predictions are for every single match on both the SummerSlam and the NXT Takeover Brooklyn card by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.

After Dean Ambrose walked out of the Battleground pay per view last month still the WWE World Heavyweight Champion after defeating Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins in a monster main event, Monday night RAW was left without a main championship. The following night Stephanie McMahon and RAW general manager, Mick Foley made the announcement that a new championship, the WWE Universal Championship would debut at SummerSlam. With Seth Rollins already in the match up the WWE only had to name one more opponent and after two gruelling matches it was NXT graduate, Finn Balor who was named the second man in the running to become the first ever WWE Universal Champion.

Since his return to the WWE Seth Rollins have been nothing short of dominate. After defeating Roman Reigns clean at the Money in the Bank pay per view for the WWE World Heavyweight Champion it looked as though Rollins reign at the top was far from over and he was right back at the top of the roster. However, a surprise cash in from Dean Ambrose resulted in Rollins resorting back to playing the role as the challenger once again. In the build up to that hugely anticipated Shield triple threat Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose worked their butts off. With Reigns out due to his suspension the responsibility to deliver a strong build up rested heavy on Ambrose and Rollins but despite the difficult challenge the pair managed to get the entire WWE universe on board and even more excite for this must see bout. Rollins in particular made sure everyone was left talking about him every single week. His mind games, promos, interviews and segments resulted in Rollins being one of the most talked about WWE Superstars on the roster yet again. Fitting in a number of strong matches also since his return has put him right back at the top where he deserves to be. In the week leading up to the triple threat Rollins competed in two brilliant singles championship matches against Ambrose where he reminded us all again why he is one of the hottest talents in all of professional wrestling today. At the Battleground pay per view Rollins of course had an outstanding performance, stealing the show and competing in the best match of the night yet again in my personal opinion. He may not have walked out of the pay per view as WWE World Heavyweight Champion but he sure did impress and deliver on the night.

Twenty four hours after the Battleground pay per view Stephanie McMahon stood in front of a sold out crowd pitting the blame on Roman Reigns as to why the WWE Championship was over on Smackdown and not Monday night RAW claiming that it was all his fault as to why Monday night  RAW no longer had possession of the most prestigious championship in the WWE history. She later announced that a new championship would be introduced at the SummerSlam pay per view and Seth Rollins the face of Monday night RAW would already be in the running the first champion. His opponent would be decided in the main event of the weeks show. Two huge fatal four way matches would determine who would main event Monday night RAW the winner of the match then would be announced as Seth Rollins opponent at SummerSlam and also be in the running to become the first ever WWE Universal Champion. I personally had no issue with Rollins being put in this match straight away. Of course it would have been nice to see him earn it and the WWE spending a little more time creating the faces of this huge match would have also been nice to see but this did make a lot of sense. Seth Rollins is Stephanie McMahon's golden boy and so booking him straight into the main event just made sense and helped develop the foundations of a story between Rollins and Balor. It also helped create a little fire in Roman Reigns help develop more story in the main event of that episode of Monday Night RAW.

Sitting here and telling you I am a huge Finn Balor fan would most probably the understatement of the year. After following his career for so many years it really is amazing seeing here where he is now. Just like everyone else I had been waiting for seemed like forever for Balor to make his main roster debut. For the past year Balor has been trolling us all on twitter and with rumour after rumour regarding his main roster debut surfacing the internet it was a long painful wait! It was however so interesting hearing and reading just how all different fans around the world wanted to see Balor debut. Some wanted him to arrive at the SummerSlam pay per view, some wanted the Royal Rumble, some wanted him to finally make his debut on the night after Wrestlemania. I even wrote plenty of blog posts and spoke on twitter about how and when I would like to see him arrive on the main roster. However, it was last month back on draft night that we finally learnt that Balor would be arriving on the main roster as part of the Monday night RAW roster. Drafted at number five it was a surprised to see an NXT superstar drafted so early. Of course we were all expecting him to be one of the six names making the jump from NXT up to the main roster but to be drafted so high really did set the bar and made Monday night RAW the stronger roster very early one. Thankfully we didn't have to wait long to see the demon make his arrival as six days later he made his Monday night RAW debut competing in two huge matches. Announced as the final superstar competing in the first fatal four way match of the night Balor was an early favourite as Rollins opponent but of course with Roman Reigns in the picture there were plenty of doubts. The fatal four really was a stand out of the night. It was a strong opening match the set bar for the first of the night and more importantly the second fatal four way

Later on in the night we found out that Balor would be facing winner of the second fatal four way match, Roman Reigns in the nights main event. That match also turn out to be very very strong and one of my favourite Monday night RAW main events of the year. I know I was not the only the one who was convinced Reigns was walking out with the victory. Of course I was rooting for Balor all the way but with the WWE being the WWE I was seriously expecting to see Reigns go over. After a brilliant performance from both in a strong main event it was Balor who picked up the shock victory leaving me going off to bed at gone four AM very very happy indeed. While we have seen some great matches between Reigns and Rollins over the years this singles match between Rollins and Balor is truly going to be epic Now, of course I was over the moon about Balor picking up this victory but it was a surprise to see just how much they pushed him on his first now. It was to be expected and he of course deserves it but it was very interesting. From the moment the announcement was made regarding the new championship every single part of me wanted to see Finn competing for this new title and with him being such a high draft, being so over and being such a big deal it was to be expected. In his first night Balor was able to make a huge impact putting every other man on notice including his SummerSlam opponent, Seth Rollins.

Looking at this years SummerSlam card we really are in for a great show. We have a number of brilliant, must see matches set for the night! I have to admit that this match up between Finn Balor and Seth Rollins is without a doubt the match I'm most looking forward too and most excited about. We have to of my personal favourite current WWE superstars, two the men leading the future of the
company and two of the most talented men in the WWE today. It's all fantastic seeing two former NXT Champions battle it out in the biggest match on one of the biggest pay per views of the year. It really does highlight just how great the future of the WWE looks and proves that NXT really is working it's magic and has been since day one. Now, the expectations of this match could not be higher. We have seen these two compete in some of the best matches of the past decade. We know how talented they are we know what they are capable of and so you cannot expect nothing but the best from these two. I strongly believe that this will be the strongest match of the night and the best all round wrestling match. As to who walks away the victor I find this match to be the most difficult to call. Either one of these superstars could walk out as the first ever WWE universal champion. Personally, I will be rooting for Balor but I won't be disappointed if we instead saw Rollins walk out the winner. I do think there is more the WWE can do with Balor at the moment and over the next five months or so there will be more opportunities for bigger storyline's for him but with Seth Rollins being the star that he is there would also be plenty for him also. But I have to admit that I just really want to see a dominate Balor club kick stat and if Anderson and Gallows were to assist Balor at SummerSlam it would literally make my Summer. However, if they do want to create the Balor club they are most probably going to wait and build up something even stronger.

Of course I will be live tweeting throughout both the kick off show and the actual SummerSlam pay per view on Sunday! As always you can let me know what your predictions are for this match and everything else on the card by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.
