Last Week in Wrestling

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good and have had an amazing weekend. Honestly, I have had the longest most depressing weekend known to man kind but I'm back today, ready to put the past few days behind me and get back on track. It's the start of a brand new month and I'm gonna try my best to upload as much as I can throughout the next four weeks. I'm pretty proud of how much content I got up yesterday and I wanna try my best to keep at that level. I'm also planning on practicing recording a podcast and setting all that up as well as preparing to launch my new blog which I'll be talking about over on Instagram and Snapchat later on this week, all my social media links will be bellow. So while it's the start of a new month its also the start of the week which means it's time to take a look back at the past week in wrestling. Last Monday this post didn't go up because I of course uploaded my No Mercy review instead and so today I will be touching on some of the highlights moments and new points of the past two weeks so some of this stuff you probably will be bored of hearing about but I wanna touch on it anyway. Coming up this week I have a couple of top five lists as well as my RAW and Smackdown LIVE Highlights posts and of course this Friday I will be uploading my WWE Hell in a Cell predictions. Sunday night I will be live tweeting throughout the pay per view as per usual. For now, you can check out any recent blog posts including my No Mercy review and lasts weeks RAW and Smackdown LIVE highlights. Finally, you can have your say and let me know what you thought of all the action from last week in wrestling by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me over at @TezangiVictoria.

WWE News and Headlines

No Mercy 2017

Fist up we of course have to touch on  this years No Mercy pay per view presented by the superstars of Monday night RAW. As i mentioned in the intro, last Monday I did upload my full No Mercy review where I took a look back at some of the best moments of the show but also in that post I mentioned how much i really enjoyed the show. As always, I've tuned into every single pay per view this year and I can honestly say this was one of the best not only of twenty seventeen but of the past couple of years. There were a couple of booking decisions I hated as I mentioned throughout the week including Enzo Amore walking out as the new Cruiserweight champion and Brock Lesnar retaining but I've grown used to the idea of both those moves and I can understand why they were made. So far the WWE have managed to make both work and I can't complain too much right now. As for the rest of the show, brilliant. Honestly, there were a number of match of the year candidates that took place . The work from the tag teams divison was fantastic. Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose and Cesaro and Sheamus gave us one of the best main roster tag team matches in years and gave the divison over on RAW exactly what it needed matching up to the work we've been seeing between the Usos and the New Day over on Smackdown LIVE. We also have the women's fatal five way which was hands down for me the best women's match of the year so far. I really really liked this and after watching a couple times more I can really appreciate just how good this was. Alexa did of course retain which while I wasn't over the moon about because I was backing Nia was a hundred and ten percent the right move and her new feud with Mickie James is much much needed for both women. Cena and Reigns of course also were standouts of the night competing in a match we will all be talking about in years to come.

Cena's last match and former WWE Divas Champions set to make WWE return?

As we just touched on, Cena and Reigns competed in what was one of the best matches of the year last Sunday at the No Mercy pay per view. The two went toe to toe in a gripping, entertaining, passionate match that had fans on their feet and eyes glued to the screen. The shocking ending saw Roman Reigns pick up the clean victory over Cena and after the two embraced and showed a mutual sign of respect for on another Cena was left in the middle of the ring looking defeated and ready fro a new chapter in his life. Later on in the night during RAW talk Cena touched on the fact that he is glad he no longer has that burden in his life and the task to stay as the top dog at the highest level in the WWE, passing the torch onto Reigns. While I've never been the biggest fan of Roman he more than proved himself during this match and the match and come the end it did feel as though the torch had been passed and it does feel like the right time in a way. Now, this of course will not be the last we see of John Cena. He's career is far from over and he has plenty more to give to the WWE, however, a more part time deal is something the sixteen time world champion is possibly now looking at and with a new movie role on his way it looks as though this is something that fans will be getting used to. Personally, I have no problem with Cena working a part time contract. It's the right thing for him personally and for his character this stage of his career and I'm interested to see what the future holds.

As for returns, the past couple of weeks everyone has been talking about the return of former NXT and two time divas champion Paige. Over on social media Paige has been keeping fans updated on her return and touched on the fact she is back to training at the WWE performance center and is firmly back on the road back to the WWE and the top. Of course, as a huge Paige fan I'm super excited to learn that she is on her way back and edging closer to making her WWE return. In other news, it has been rumored that the WWE are interested in bringing back former WWE divas champion Kaityln who recently made a return to in ring action. I loved Kaitlyn and was so disappointed when she departed with the WWE a few years back. An amazing look and super talented, Kaitlyn would be a perfect edition to the ongoing women's evolution and having her apart of the Smackdown LIVE women's division is something the blue brands roster could really benefit from.

Other

The final bits to touch on in regards to the WWE include low attendance rates for WWE shows especially Smackdown LIVE. Pictures have surfaced for a while now of low attendance at recent shows and this week we have seen that continue. However, saying that, things did improve this week for the blue brand due to the main event between Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. Also, WWE superstar Maria announced she and husband Mike Kanellis/Bennett are expecting their first baby. With Maryse also revealing two weeks ago she too is expecting it seems as though its baby fever in the WWE right now. Jeff Hardy is also set to be out of action for several months following a shoulder injury that will require surgery. Tom Phillips will also be replacing Michael Cole during tonight's episode of Monday night RAW.

News Elsewhere

WhatCulture Changes keep everyone in the IWC talking

In regards to news elsewhere there has been one thing in particular that has really blown up and had hardcore wrestling fans typing furiously over on social media over the past couple of weeks and thats the dramatic changes going on over at WhatCulture. As you all know by now, it was recently  revealed that Adam Blampied, Adam Pacitti, King Ross, and Jack the Jobber have been amongst those to reveal they are leaving WhatCulture. For a while we've seen new faces pop up here and there and with the news now official big changes have already been made to the YouTube Channel. Already a bunch of new faces and new video ideas, the channel launched a new NXT weekly special and more news related videos have been uploaded. It does seem as though some of the videos we all know and love including Fast count are remaining and while I know the changes are hard to get used to the new guys are doing a brilliant job and I think its time to cut them some slack. Change sucks but its what we've got and we might as well just deal with it. Good luck to the new guys (and girl) at what culture and I remain optimistic about the future. It also looks as though it won't be the last we see of our WhatCulture faves as all have teased new projects over on Social media.

Keeping on the theme of WhatCulture, WhatCulture pro wrestling also looks to be having some changes. It has been revealed that the promotion will be re branding as Defiant Wrestling in December with the first show under the new name taking place on December fourth on IPPV where the event will be called " We are Defiant". Stu Bennett also known as Wade Barrett, has been appointed the new general manager of the promotion.

Bullet Club Invade WWE and Ultimate Lucha Tres

One of the biggest news headlines of the week came from the Bullet Club and WWE. This past week before Monday night RAW went on air pictures and videos surfaced of Bullet Club members including Cody Rhodes and Marty Scrull outside the RAW venue. Of course no paths collided but the whole thing was such an epic little stunt that really blew up! A highlight of the week it was pretty awesome! We also saw Ultimate Lucha Tres kick start, a four show event that looks to be very very impressive. The first show saw two matches take place including Killshot vs Dante Fox which went down as one of my personal favourite matches of the year so far. Brutal, at times hard to watch, emotional and totally gripping and entertaining this is a match you much check out! I will be reviewing Ultimate Lucha Tres in full at the end of the month!

And that is last week in wrestling!Coming up this week I have a couple of top five lists as well as my RAW and Smackdown LIVE Highlights posts and of course this Friday I will be uploading my WWE Hell in a Cell predictions. Sunday night I will be live tweeting throughout the pay per view as per usual.
