What This Weeks Smackdown LIVE Taught Us About Wrestlemania 35

With this week’s episode of Monday night RAW going down as one of the best of the year so far full of moments that will go down as all-time greats the blue brand had a lot to live up to come Tuesday night, however, returns, title match changes, and brand new rivalries left fans more than entertained and secured what was an amazing week in the world of WWE. Looking back at this week's Smackdown LIVE, however, what did the show actually secretly tell us?

Kevin Owens Could Become the new WWE Champion

Kevin Owens’ return this past Tuesday on Smackdown LIVE came as a huge surprise to us all. After a couple of weeks of seeing Owens in mini videos hyping his return, we all wondered just when the former US champion would, in fact, make that return but no one could have predicted his appearance this week and the fashion in which it was conducted. With Vince McMahon declaring Owens would be replacing Kofi Kingston in the Fastlane WWE Championship match we have been left believing a title change could, in fact, be on the cards. Owens is clearly getting one major push right now, replacing Kofi puts him in an interesting position character wise and fans know an epic matchup will take place between Kevin and Bryan come Fastlane. Owens is a legitimate threat to Bryan’s title and walking out of Fastlane as the WWE champion doesn’t seem like a farfetched prediction taking into consideration exactly how his return has been booked.

Kofi Kingston Will have His Wrestlemania Moment

Keeping on the theme of the WWE Championship picture and after Kofi Kingston was replaced by Kevin Owens in his up and coming WWE title match the foundation has been set for a feel-good Mania moment and story for one of the WWE’s most loveable veterans. Twenty nineteen has kick-started amazingly well for Kingston with fans completely getting behind his big-time push and after Owens’ return this week the foundation has been set for one epic storyline heading into Mania. Being replaced almost guarantees Kofi will be chasing after that title at Wrestlemania and whether it be interrupting the title bout at Fastlane or demanding his opportunity he unfairly has taken away from him, the story has been set for Kofi to have his Wrestlemania moment could quite easily walk out of the biggest PPV of the year WWE champion!

The RAW Tag Team Division is Far Weaker

On the topic of returns, this week’s episode of Smackdown LIVE saw Matt Hardy return to the ring teaming up with brother Jeff to make one heck of an impact. With the two heading right back into the tag team division it has become very clear that the blue brand is shining far brighter in terms of tag team wrestling. While the Revival do in fact bring a lot of hope to the division on Monday nights the roster over there is in need of more teams while Smackdown LIVE has an array of must-see and dream contests involving several tag teams and with the Hardy Boyz back together things just got very exciting!

AJ Styles vs Randy Orton is ON

It’s been rumored for a while now that AJ Styles and Randy Orton will be next to butt heads and after this week’s episode of Smackdown LIVE that appears to be confirmed. Backstage confrontation has told fans these two amazing superstars have plenty of in-ring encounters coming up and there is most certainly a reason to be excited. We have a WWE legend in Randy Orton and one of the best Wrestlers in the world in AJ Styles and while the storyline work needs to be very strong and creative here and I’m lacking confidence in the WWE nailing that I do believe that if done correctly this could be fantastic!

R-truth Has GOT to Drop the United States Championship

We have spoken about the state of the United States Championship several times both here on my blog and throughout the wrestling community with many believing the title should have been retired a long time ago and the current reign of R-Truth has only furthered that point. Saying that however, with Truth competing in a triple threat match this week on Smackdown LIVE what became evident is there is, in fact, a number of superstars on the roster who can bring a lot to this championship. Opponents Andrade Cien Almas and Rey Mysterio both make for excellent future champions and the sooner one of those two names are given the title the better! Heading into Wrestlemania Almas and Mysterio could put on a fantastic match that could so easily steal the show for the US championship and so I will point out again, the sooner the WWE take the title off Truth the sooner we can start to see things turn around for this title and many superstars!

Wrestlemania season truly is in full swing! Both RAW and Smackdown LIVE delivered massively this week and gave us loads to talk about and be excited for!
