The Very Best and Worse Moments of This Weeks Monday Night RAW

In the week of celebration, WWE fans have been left with plenty of reasons to be excited. With the build to Wrestlemania intensifying massively, Roman Reigns’ return and NXT Stars continuing to make an impact it has been an exciting start to the week in the world of pro wrestling and here in today’s blog post we are going to be looking at some of the best and worse moments from this week's RAW.

Welcome Back Big Dog

Not only was this the best moment of the week but hands down one of the best moments in the history of Monday night RAW. With the WWE breaking news last week that former champion Roman Reigns would be making an appearance on this week show to give an update regarding his leukaemia fans awaited to hear what the big dog had to say sitting on the edge of their seats. Welcomed back by an amazing reaction from fans in the arena this was a truly special moment and as Reigns revealed he was in remission there was a feel-good moment lasting throughout the three-hour show. This was, of course, such an amazing and special moment and everyone in the wrestling community most certainly welcomes back the big dog!

Not a Good Start for the Revival

When the Revival defeated Chad Gable and Bobby Roode to become the new RAW tag team champions, I was left genuinely so happy I could have cried! Dash and Dawson have proven time and time again to be one of the best tag teams in the world today and when and if booked correctly these two have all the potential in the world to shift the entire division in a far greater direction. Their win two weeks ago should have marked a new era for tag team wrestling on Monday night but after suffering their second loss in a row this week to NXT Call ups Aleister Black and Ricochet it's most certainly safe to say this isn’t the run fans expected. The WWE has some serious work to do in shifting the momentum of the current champs. These two deserve a strong and career changing title reign but as of right now I’ve been left more concerned than excited.

The Match of the Night

I’ll be honest, in terms of match quality this week the WWE really didn’t deliver on Monday night RAW. The show was a night of celebration and fantastic moments but in terms of matches, they really did struggle. One contest that did stand out for me was the Intercontinental championship bout between Lio Rush and current champ Finn Balor. I enjoyed the segment leading up to this match, I loved the new attitude from Rush and the match itself was a massive highlight of the night. These are two superstars who really do know exactly how to present fans with an exciting matchup and that’s exactly what we got. It was exciting, skilful, and both superstars stood out greatly. If the WWE could fit in more matches of this standard on a regular basis then fans really will be left completely satisfied.

Ronda Rousey Lays down The Law

While do believe the RAW women’s championship angle has been shifted away from the spotlight a little over the past week there is simply no denying this remains a key story in the WWE right now in the build to Wrestlemania. This week saw Becky Lynch make another appearance attacking the champ leading to her arrest. Moments later Rousey confronted Stephanie McMahon demanding she reinstated Lynch and after McMahon shut her down Rousey was left reminding the world why she is known as the baddest woman on the planet. Laying down the law she made sure Stephanie knew exactly who she was dealing with and left the RAW women’s championship at McMahon's feet walking off almost in protest. Now, this is a direction I didn’t see the WWE taking this angle in and I’m not sure what it truly does for Lynch. However, in saying that I do believe we are starting to set up something very exciting and the booking for Lynch at Fastlane will be one to watch! Depth really was added this week to this growing story.

Batista’s Return

One of my personal favourite moments of the entire week this week in the world of pro wrestling was the surprise return of the animal, Batista. We have seen the WWE tease a Wrestlemania matchup between Batista and Triple H for a while now and the rumours have been strong for even longer. Now, I know some people have complained and tweeted out that they should have shown more of the animal this week upon his return but in all honesty, I do believe the WWE handled this very well and I would not have changed a thing. Keeping things simple and effective yet massively surprising this was an excellent way to close the show and kick start a true must-see story and match heading into Mania. After the attack on Ric Flair and the one-liner aimed at Triple H, the build to Wrestlemania has seen fire added to it greatly!

This week’s episode of Monday night RAW truly was a feel-good night. From Reigns’ announcement and return to Batista’s moment at the end of the night, we got something exciting throughout each hour and as a result, I could only list one down of the night. Now, I know there were probably other moments that made this show feel a little weaker at times but with so much to enjoy and so many great moments, we just had to stay positive today!
