January In the WWE: What We Learned

As always January was one heck of a long month, but we have finally kick-started February and a batch of new challenges and exciting moments await us all. However, we are not quite done with Jan just yet here only blog as in today’s post we are going to be looking back at the past month and discussing the highlight moments and what we learned from the WWE over the past four weeks.

Dean Ambrose vs Triple H Must Happen at Wrestlemania

Putting Triple H’s health aside and the news that Dean Ambrose is leaving the WWE after April following a recent episode of Monday Night RAW, we were all lift desperate to see the two men collide at this years Wrestlemania event. Plans regarding Ambrose’s Mania booking considering he will be leaving after the PPV are not quite clear as of yet but the two’s in-ring confrontation during the opening segment of last weeks Monday night RAW has left everyone wanting to see the two men collide on the grandest stage of them all. I more than anyone would love to see Ambrose given a huge storyline before his exit and it’s a rivalry against Triple H that could bring out the best character and in-ring work, we have seen from him since his debut in the WWE in the first place.

Women’s Tag Team Division is Growing

With the first ever WWE Women’s Tag Team champions set to be crowned this month in the Elimination Chamber match fans are seeing the standout teams of the division take centre stage and names are being picked by fans as favourites but over in NXT it’s becoming clear that the WWE are developing its women’s tag team division very smartly. From Marina and Jessamyn to Io and Kairi, the WWE has been booking female tag teams well this past month and building the future of the division very clearly shaping stars who will most certainly go on to hold tag team gold.

The AEW Take Over

I am going to be writing some content this month looking at AEW in more detail but with the promotion growing massively in terms of its roster, news, and fan excitement the WWE have been under a lot of pressure to make even more changes to their product. With rumours suggesting stronger tag team work and more risky moves are on there way to the WWE, it appears the top dogs in the wrestling world have found some true competition that threatens their top title massively. From Alexa Bliss wardrobe malfunction and everything, the WWE has done with Mandy Rose this month are these even more tactics to get fans talking about the WWE more and less about AEW?

NXT is DIY

The first NXT Takeover event of the year went down a major treat! Taking place on Royal Rumble weekend fans were treated to a night of outstanding wrestling and awesome wrestling entertainment and come the end of the night it was Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa standing tall at the top of the stage. With the former tag team champions sitting at the top of the NXT roster and finding an alliance again are we about to see Gargano and Ciampa completely take over the black and yellow brand? And are the pair about to create some serious history and set their sights on the tag team titles once again? Meaning all gold lays on the bodies of DIY.

Secret Standout Star of the month

This month’s secret standout star of the month is NXT UK star, Isla Dawn. I have named this the secret standout star for a reason, Dawn hasn’t taken part in a major standout contest, wrestled at a takeover event or been booked massively well but her in-ring performance has been consistent and its evident that Dawn is a secret gem in the NXT UK Women’s division. Keep your eyes on this up and coming star, the best is yet not come.

Losing Stars

The past four weeks has been bombarded with news surrounding rumours of a number of superstars set to leave the WWE. Fans already know that Dean Ambrose will not be returning after Wrestlemania and Hideo Itami has departed with the company already. The likes of Sanity and the Revival have also been amongst those superstars said to be unhappy with their position in the company and with AEW forever rising in popularity could these major stars be heading to one of the hottest rising promotions on the scene?

Top Stars back on Top?

The Royal Rumble pay per view saw two major of superstars climb back to the top. Both Finn Balor and Sasha Banks may not have walked out of the PPV with championship gold but their matches against Ronda Rousey and Brock Lesnar reminded fans of why they have always been so highly respected and considered top stars for so long. It was the match both superstars have needed, and the past month has given fans hope that a bright year awaits them with the first month of twenty nineteen being so strong for both Balor and Banks.

Intergender Matches Could be Coming back

Later this month I am going to be looking at intergender matches in much greater detail! I’m going to be creating a list of some of my all-time faves and discussing whether or not they should make a return to the WWE product. The topic has, of course, come up this month after Nia Jax not only attacked R-truth and stole his position in the Royal Rumble match but confronted Dean Ambrose and took bumps from the likes of Rey Mysterio and Randy Orton. There are many suggestions and rumours that intergender matches will be making a return at some point and while I favour the move, I know there are many who don’t like the idea but what do you guys think? Let me know down in the comments!

And that has been this month in the WWE! I do have a list of the best matches and superstars of the past months so if you would like to see a blog post looking at those lists then do let me know also! As always, any recent blog posts will be linked below and you can tell me what you thought of last month in the WWE by tweeting me over at @TezangiVictoria
