Six WWE Superstars Who Should Move to NXT In 2019

With the new year officially kick-started wrestling fans have already begun to shift from the spirit of Christmas to the spirit of Wrestlemania season but the new year has also left many wondering what the next twelve months could hold for a number of superstars who may not have had the best twenty eighteen. Turning that around in two thousand and nineteen is something I know I for sure would love to see and so today I’m listing five superstars I believe would benefit the most from going down to NXT this year!

THIS POST WAS PRE POSTED LAST MONTH

Shelton Benjamin

Since returning to the WWE Shelton Benjamin hasn’t quite been used in the manner in which many expected him to be used. From an odd pairing with Chad Gable that didn’t work out to a heel turn that has gone nowhere, Benjamin is a seriously big talent going massively underutilised and the best way to change that could very well be a move down to the black and yellow brand. With talent including Ricochet, Pete Dunne, Adam Cole, and Tommaso Ciampa taking centre stage in NXT an array of dream matches await the former United States champion, bouts I know I would most certainly pay to sit back and watch! Experience, talent, and huge popularity amongst hardcore fans Shelton Benjamin is a major contender to make the move from the main roster to NXT to better his position in the WWE right now.

Luke Harper

Keeping on the subject of Smackdown LIVE talents, Luke Harper is the next name I want to talk about today. Now, anyone who has been reading my blog or following me for a while will know that I have always been a huge Harper fan enjoying his work during the days before he arrived in the WWE and over the course of his career Harper has proven to be an extremely uniquely talented star who time and time again somehow manages to go underutilised. In recent months it has been reported Harper has worked a couple of matches on the road with the NXT roster leaving me even more desperate to see him work alongside the NXT stars of today! While it’s evident he has a stronger WWE career working alongside Rowan it would be interesting to see him explore his singles character and the best place to do that Is, of course, NXT not to mention it’s here we would be able to see his true in-ring skills with the chance of working one on one bouts that could go down as some of the best of the year.

The Ascension

The Ascension is a team I have been following for a number of years and here on my blog, I have made it clear that I have always been a huge fan and so seeing where Konnor and Viktor now currently sit on the roster is such a shame! Massively charismatic and experienced the two have gone underutilised and underrated since their debut for the main roster and this year I strongly believe the next move for them would be heading back to NXT. As one of the most memorable and iconic runs for a team on the black and yellow brand, there is no doubt the Ascension would be welcomed back by the NXT universe massively and exploring their character and skills in twenty nineteen would make for exciting content! There are several other up and coming teams The Ascension could easily collide with to create in ring magic reminding fans why they have always deserved better than they have got. This is a make or break year for Konnor and Viktor and a return to NXT must be considered!

Jinder Mahal

As an NXT original and former WWE Champion it may seem like a massively negative move to shift Jinder Mahal from Monday night RAW to NXT but looking at where he currently sits on the roster it appears this may just be the next best option. While he may not be the best wrestler in the WWE today it must be noted that his character talent and in-ring skill isn’t being used well over on the main roster what so ever despite a dominant twenty-seventeen. His previous run with the WWE championship opens up plenty of storyline options for him heading to NXT and his history with the brand works in his favour also. Bringing along the Singh Brothers adds more depth to Mahal and creates several options for what these guys could bring to NXT making an interesting new dynamic for the black and yellow brand.

Paige

I’ve mentioned in a recent blog post that despite retiring from in-ring action there is still plenty former NXT and Divas champion Paige can do within the WWE. Doing a decent job as Smackdown LIVE general manager more doors have been open for Paige and in twenty nineteen I would love to see her explore more within the company and get involved in other brands this includes NXT and the NXT UK brand. Whether it be taking on the role of new general manager for the NXT UK shows much later on in the year or exploring the position of a manager down in NXT or a again NXT UK the next twelve months see potential for Paige to make a real impact elsewhere in the WWE and really have some fun looking at other options she has within the company!

Tyler Breeze

And the final name I just have to discuss today is, of course, Tyler Breeze. As I’m writing this Breeze has worked episodes of NXT where fans witnessed him take on Ricochet in one on one action and the appearance has fans desperate to see the Gorgeous one makes a return to the black and yellow brand. Now, in a dream world we all would have loved to have seen Tyler go on to really lead a new era in the WWE taking centre stage and changing opinions on what a top WWE superstar should like however, it appears the world just wasn’t quite ready for that and so looking at the next best move it appears a full-time return to NXT should most certainly be something to explore. There are of course several more dream matches fans would love to see Breeze apart of including taking on opponents such as Adam Cole, Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, and of course Velveteen Dream amongst many more and a return to NXT can set him back on track and remind fans of just how big of a talent he really is (plus it would be great to see him finally hold gold in NXT).

And that is my list! Of course, I would love to know what you guys think and who you would like to see head over to NXT this year so feel free to leave a comment below or tweet me over at @TezangiVictoria
