NXT Review and Reactions

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good! We are around three weeks away until NXT Takeover Dallas set to take place during Wrestlemania week making this one of the biggest if not the biggest and most important NXT Takeover Show to date. Last night general manager William Regal added three more matches to the Takeover card heating things up and getting the entire NXT Universe excited for this massive live special. In today's blog post I'm going to be taking you back through all of this weeks NXT action telling you what I thought of every single match, promo, and segment that took place. You would have seen that last week I never uploaded an NXT Review and instead I wrote a TNA Review and Reactions post. This was mainly because of the fact that NXT only saw one match take place throughout the show and I wasn't sure how many of you guys would actually have wanted to read that review so I wrote my second TNA Review. I do have a lot of fun writing TNA Posts and they are going to be a more frequent thing after Wrestlemania season is done and dusted as I have noted already. Tomorrow I will either be uploading a Smackdown Review or another NXT Prediction post and all across the weekend I will also be uploading more NXT Takeover Predictions. Once last quick reminder; Wrestlemania prediction post will start going up in two weeks time. As always you can let me know what you thought of last nights show by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria. Any recent blog posts will be linked bellow including this weeks top five and RAW Review.

After he's gruelling two out of three falls match last week against Samoa Joe to determine a new number one contender this week saw Sami Zayn kick start the show. Addressing he's phenomenal match from the week before, Zayn spoke about he's loss and the fact that the number one contender-ship had slipped through he's fingers last week, saying that if he had made a couple of slight changes than we could have been seeing a completely different opening this week. However, despite he's loss Sami made it perfectly clear that he's goal to become the first ever two time NXT champion was still something he wanted to achieve and vowed that one day he would make history by doing so. Moving he's attentions onto NXT Takeover Dallas the former champion stood in the centre of the ring and admitted that he did not want to miss out on this huge night for NXT as the roster are guaranteed to steal Wrestlemania week and takeover as usual. General manager William Regal soon made he's first appearance of the night and provided Sami Zayn and the NXT Universe with a huge announcement that for sure broke twitter. Announcing that Sami will be competing at NXT Takeover on the first April he left it to the titron to reveal the opponent for the night. Shocking the entire NXT Universe the face of Shinsuke Nakamura appeared on the screen and the reaction from the full sail crowd said it all. This is a huge huge announcement and a massive addition to the Takeover card. I along with everyone else am seriously looking forward to this match and I cannot wait to see what goes down between these two in a couple of weeks time. I have already wrote my prediction post for this match and it will be uploaded on Sunday so keep an eye out for the link to that this weekend.

The first match of the night saw some tag team action (it was a night full of tag team action to be honest, witch is great) as the Hype Bro's took on  the team of Angelo Dawkins and Kenneth Crawford. I'll be honest, I didn't have very high expectations of this match. It was clear what the intentions were behind it; simply to add to the ever growing momentum of the Hype Bros and keep them looking good for some reason. Personally, you guys know this already, I am not a fan of the Hype Bro's at all. I along with most people cannot stand Mojo Rawley, honestly I cannot even put into words just how much I dislike this character and to be honest I have never really been a fan of Zack Ryder so this just isn't a great combination for me personally. However, saying that I do think they look good together and something about them works. I think there is a certain type of fan base that are really going to love these guys and well to be fair they do give you something to chant and a reason to jump around a little. I'm sure as a kid a part of me would have loved these guys. We haven't really seen all that much of Angelo Dawkins and Kenneth Crawford so there isn't too much I can really say at this point. I try to stay up to date with house shows and everything but I haven't really heard much from these guys. I do want to, I would love to learn and see more from both of them, especially Angelo Dawkins who has been apart of the roster for quite sometime now. The match last night was fairly one sided. Mojo walked into this match as hyped as ever. He showed he's power and strength greatly backing he's opponent into a corner and waiting for that perfect moment to pounce and take him down. Despite their best efforts to take out the Hype Bros and pick up some momentum/get noticed Angelo and Kenneth found themselves failing to score a victory after Zack Ryder changed up the pace of the match and team work from the Hype Bros led to another win for them. Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley may not be in the tag team championship picture but like it or not they are taking the spotlight and sure thing, gaining some momentum.

Over the past couple of months or so we have seen a thew backstage segments between Emma and Dana Brooke verbally attacking and degrading new diva Deonna Purrazzo. After Purrazzo decided not to take the advice from Dana and Emma and made a thew comments about their own failed efforts against Asuka new comer Deonna found herself with two new enemies and last night she stepped into the ring with the first Australian Diva to come to the WWE, Emma.  Again, I wasn't expecting anything great from this match. It wasn't completely random booking. Following their backstage segments over the past couple of months it made sense and was a good way at keeping Emma and her momentum at an all time high. Walking into this match very confident Emma made sure to remind every that the Emmalution was still in full effect and the spotlight was all about her. Purrazzo stepped up early in this match showing Emma she wasn't going to back down and she was determine to pick up this victory. However, things did not go her way and Emma soon made Deonna pay for her actions revealing that inner mean streak we have seen in recent months. Targeting the lower back and pulling at the hair of Purrazzo the independent talent found herself struggling to get any offence and with a screaming Dana Brooke at ringside it made it even more difficult for the newcomer to pick up any momentum in this match. It was interesting seeing just how strongly the Full sail crowd were behind Emma last night. In the end she did pick up another submission win locking in the Emma Lock. I'm not really sure where the WWE are going with Emma at the moment but I have faith that they wont mess her up for a second time in her career and I'm still looking forward to seeing Dana back in action on TV.

Tommaso Ciampa is another NXT Talent that appears to be on a role at the moment. With momentum running high and a series of solid matches behind him he continues to impress the NXT Universe and last night saw the independent talent step inside the NXT ring and this time he was taking on another newer face in Jesse Sorensen. To start out, I thought this was going to be a completely one sided match with Ciampa in full control and the fans completely behind him but that wasn't the case at all last night. There were a good chunk of the Full Sail crowd strongly behind Sorensen last night witch was unexpected but I really liked it and he was very impress at times. He had a good look, he moved around the ring greatly, and hit a couple of very impressive strikes that sure did grab my attention. However the speed, the sharpness and the determination of Tommaso was something that stole the show last night briefly. He walked into this match with nothing but a victory on he's mind. Using the same harsh tactics we saw him use a couple of weeks back against Bull Dempsey. He focused on the ear and general head/face of Jesse and in the end it was an impressive armbar that saw him pick up another victory. I liked this match. I did want it to be longer. I feel like if this was about fifteen minuets than this would have been great but the goal was to put over Tommaso and continue he's build in momentum. I'm not sure what they have planned for him but he seems to be on a role at the moment and he sure is a brilliant heel and ring competitor as we all know.

After their vicious attack on Bayley and Carmella several weeks back Nia Jax and Eva Marie stepped into the ring against NXT Women's Champion Bayley and the women who put a stop to their attack all those weeks back, Asuka. This was a match that was very well advertised and hyped over the week and as a result I found myself really excited to see what was going to go down between these four women and two teams. What became very apparent early on in this match was how well both teams worked together. Say what you want about Eva Marie and even Nia Jax (who I actually am a big big fan of) but they work amazingly well together. Not only do they look great together but they walk into their matches with a game plan and while it may not work all the time (like last night) it's effective in the sense that it gets people talking and it grabs your attention. The wrestling in this match wasn't great, mainly because Eva spent a lot of time in the ring so Bayley and Asuka really had to carry the match. Eva pretty much just stood there and let them wrestle her while she sold everything witch to be honest is the best thing to do. There was a great moment in this match were Nia Jax hit a leg drop on Eva Marie by accident trying to break up the pin. She also did have a couple of impressive spots here and there as well. I really like Nia and I hope to god the WWE have some good plans for her. The alliance between Nia and Eva is something I do really like and what they have planned for them as a duo in the future is going to be one to watch regardless of how you feel about Eva Marie. Asuka and Bayley worked really really well together. We saw frequent tags made. A couple of times Eva made the stupid move of slapping Asuka around the face witch she did pay for when Asuka kicked her right at the back of the head sending her tumbling into a perfect belly to Bayley to allow the fan favourite team to score the win. Not a great wrestling match but I enjoyed it and I was very entertained.

After this match William Regal made the announcement that at NXT Takeover Dallas, Bayley will defend the NXT Women's championship against the new number one contender Asuka. I have already written this prediction post and it will be uploaded on Saturday at five P.M. UK time so keep an eye out for that this weekend. Links will be on my twitter page as usual.

This weeks's NXT main event saw the Vaudevillians and American Alpha do battle to determine the number one contenders for the NXT Tag Team Championships. The winning team of this match would go on to face the Revival at NXT Takeover Dallas for the championships. I was very very happy to see a tag team match once again main event. I love tag team action and the division is so so strong in NXT. These are two of the best NXT has to offer and I was expecting something pretty amazing from these two teams and they did not disappoint. The early stages of this match saw Simon Gotch fail to gain some control as he fell victim to Gable's brilliant mat work. It looked as though
American Alpha were in full control of this match and heading for an early victory however the Vaudevillians put their experience into play and got a little nasty. Isolating Gable from he's tag team partner they worked on changing up the pace and wearing down Gable. The turn around saw Chad send Gotch head first into the ropes allowing him enough time to get across to the ring and tag in the powerhouse, Jason Jordan who really did bring up the pace even more. The Vaudevillians continued to fight back with Gotch saving English a couple of times to ensure this match continued on. There was one particular moment in this match that saw Gable send Gotch out of the ring and perfectly in the arms of Jason Jordan who hit a perfect suplex out side of the ring. That left English alone in the ring and Jordan and Gable found their moment to set up Grand Amplitude and pick up an important win. Now the new number one contenders American Alpha are only one more match away from capturing tag team gold. I really did like this match. It was a nice way to close the show and both teams did have a good showing but for me personally this was all about Jason Jordan and Chad Gable who continue to impress and steal the show.

I really enjoyed this weeks NXT. It was very tag team action based and I love that. I have pre posted every single prediction post for all the matches that were announced last night for the NXT Takeover card and they will be uploaded over the next thew days. As always you can let me know what your predictions are for NXT Takeover and Wrestlemania and you can also let me know what you thought of this weeks NXT by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.
