Top 10 Superstars of the Month: February

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good. Last year I created a series where at the end of every single month I uploaded my top twenty matches of the month and my top fifteen superstars of the month. They always went down very well and I really enjoyed writing these posts every month. When the Christmas season came along last year and I started having more work to do and family stuff I didn't have the time to write and upload these blog post every month and they just seemed to have faded out. A couple of weeks ago I decided that I really wanted to start doing these posts again ever month because of how well they went down and how much I liked writing them. So I have decided that this month I will be bringing back this series however with a couple of changes. Instead of top twenty matches and top fifteen superstars I will instead be narrowing it down to just ten top superstars and fifteen top matches. It just makes things a little easier for me every month and at the same time you haven't got two big ass blog posts to read. As usual I will link bellow any recent blog posts including my most recent RAW Review and Reactions post and my WWE Fastlane Review and Reactions. As always you can have your say by telling me what has been you match of the month and who has been your superstar of the month by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.

10) Brock Lesnar
Kick starting this months top ten superstars of the month is the beast, Brock Lesnar. This month it was announced that Lesnar would compete in a massive triple threat match at the Fastlane pay per view alongside Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns, the prize, a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match against Triple H at the main event of Wrestlemania. Throughout the build up Lesnar looked strong and thanks to brilliant promos cut by Paul Heyman and highly spoken words from Dean Ambrose, the beast was walking into this match with a great deal of momentum. In the weeks leading to the Fastlane main event Lesnar on several occasions made sure he was reminding both Ambrose and Reigns and the WWE Universe that anyone walking out of that main event was going to be close to impossible and on the night he proved once and for all why he really is a beat and the most dominate force in WWE today and WWE history. Dominating most of the match up, Lesnar gave both Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns the beating of a lifetime sending both to Suplex City and back. Despite being put through not one but two announce tables, Lesnar was still left standing strong and suplexed Reigns who at the time also had Dean Ambrose on he's shoulders, a highlight of both the match and of the night. Less than twenty four hours later, Lesnar was out for redemption and revenge after Ambrose costs him the chance to main event Wrestlemania causing the break of the submission hold that saw Reigns seconds away from tapping out. Showing the lunatic no mercy, the beast took it to Ambrose throwing him onto a car like dead weight leaving the former Intercontinental Champion at the back of an Ambulance. Lesnar at the moment is very very strong. He's entered a very different feud with a very different storyline against a very unique opponent. As we reach closer to Wrestlemania, the next month is set to be something unlike we have ever seen for Lesnar and I have to admit I am very very excited.

9) Samoa Joe
The past month has for once seen Samoa Joe keep he's mouth rather quiet but has continued to be a dominate force in NXT. On the hunt to once again become the number one contender for Finn Balor's NXT Championship, Joe has found himself in several fantastic bouts that have kept him in the spotlight. Competing in a strong yet controversial triple threat against Sami Zayn and Baron Corbin, Joe was left in unlikely position. With both him and Zayn holding Corbin into a submission hold at the same time the referee was undecided as to who would be awarded the victory. The controversial ending led to a one on one match to take place between Samoa Joe and Sami Zayn with the winner finally be crowned the number one contender. This match up turnt out to be one of my favourite of the entire month (you can see what number this match came in in tomorrow top ten matches of the month blog post). Joe had an amazingly dominate and impressive performance showing everyone why he deserves one more hot at Finn Balor and becoming the NXT Champion. The impact Joe has made in the past month and this match alone has been enough for him to feature in this months top ten. He has continued to be a heavy talking point in the Internet Wrestling Community and I honestly have not stopped reading articles on him all month long. With NXT Takeover Dallas just around the corner the next month and half is going to be huge for Joe and with rumours of he's main roster debut being not all that far away I have feeling we will be talking about Joe much much more in the weeks to come.

8) Kalisto
Former NXT Superstar Kalisto has had a fantastic start to twenty sixteen. After he's tag team partner Sin Cara was left out of action with an injury the lucha competitor was left standing solo and beginning he's career on the main roster as a singles competitor. I'll be honest, I've always liked the idea of Kalisto working as part of a tag team. I had my doubts about him going solo and I wasn't sure how he would be booked in a way that he deserved and put him in the spotlight. However, I can officially sit here now a much bigger fan and supporter of Kalisto and I am for sure eating my words. He has completely owned the month of January making it all about him and finding he's place as a singles competitor on the roster and he has led that momentum all the way through to February. I haven't stopped talking about him all month long and I have found myself re-watching and paying extra attention to every single match he has been competing in. Throughout February we have seen Kalisto continue to feud with Alberto Del Rio. Their feud has remained basic and simple yet entertaining and must see. The two went one on one at the Fastlane pay per view on the kick off show where they put on an amazing match that may just feature in my top ten matches of the month post witch will be uploaded tomorrow. I still think this was a match more than worthy of being on the main show. I hope that everyone reading this has found the time to go back and give that match a watch because it really is worth it. After a successful title defence against Del Rio, Kalisto must now focus on Wrestlemania and kick starting a new feud and storyline for what is set to be the biggest night of he's career if he makes the card. I do want to see he's booking improve in the next month. He has had some great performances throughout February but I want to see less tag team matches and more strong singles matches.

7) Sasha Banks
After a brilliant January, Sasha Banks focused her attentions on Wrestlemania and the divas championship but there were a couple of things in her way and things she needed to deal with throughout February before she could do so. Right at the start of the month we saw Banks attacked by her former team B.A.D partners Naomi and Tamina during a one on one match between Becky Lynch. The attack led to Lynch and Banks realising that they had no choice but to team up and eliminate Naomi and Tamina from the picture if either of them wanted to make it to Wrestlemania. I have said it a million times already over the past couple of weeks but I'm going to have to say it again; the past month has seen the WWE really work at improving the storyline's in the divas division. We have finally started seeing strong, gripping, interesting, and entertaining storyline's for the women. This rivalry between Naomi and Tamina and Banks and Lynch has been so well done and I really have enjoyed watching it develop throughout February. All through the month Sasha has been extremely entertaining and fun to watch. She entered and walked out of February still undefeated on the main roster yet to be pinned or submitted meaning that her momentum is higher than any other diva at the moment. Throughout the month she has picked up clean and impressive victories over both Naomi and Tamina and picked up the victory for her and Becky at the Fastlane pay per view two weeks ago. She remains the most over women in the WWE, receiving a strong reaction from the crowd wherever she goes. We have seen solid backstage promos and segments from the boss throughout the month and with the huge news that she will face off against Becky Lynch for the chance to face Charlotte at Fastlane the next month leading up to Fastlane means that things are about to get a whole lot more interesting for Sasha Banks.

6) Carmella
Carmella has without a doubt been one of the talents I have most been impressed by this past month. Honestly, I legit think I am becoming obsessed with her. I have been a Carmella fan for quite some time now as you already know, and so seeing how far she has come in the past year has been amazing. Seeing her go from the green diva with improvements to make here and there but carrying loads of potential to main eventing an episode of NXT and putting on a fantastic NXT Women's Championship match against Bayley. Twenty sixteen has kicked off amazingly well for the Princess of Staten Island. Picking up impressive victories every other week, becoming the first woman to win an NXT Women's battle royal and having her first championship match, things are looking so strong for Carmella. Her match up against Bayley was hands down the highlight of her career so far competing in her best match to date. She proved that she was a women worthy of being apart of the revolution happening in women's wrestling in the WWE. It really showed everyone how far she has come since debuting in NXT. She has had he fans behind her one hundred and ten percent there is no denying that she is one of the most over NXT talents and one of the most popular women in all of the WWE today not just NXT. The past month has also seen Carmella cut some great promos allowing us to see her mic work improvements also. Now, Carmella may have been busy over the past couple of weeks competing her own fantastic singles and tag team matches but she hasn't forgotten about her boys Enzo and Cas. The three of them had a dark match/segment on Smackdown a couple of weeks. Looking like a main roster debut is just around the corner for all three of them and they sure as hell deserve it. I cannot put into words how proud of Carmella I am and how much of a big fan I am of hers even more so now. Her relationship with Bayley is something you can't help but love and with a month like this behind her I think it's safe to say Carmella is in for a massive twenty sixteen.

5) The Miz
Number five in this months top ten superstars of the month is a pretty big surprise. I can't remember when the last time the Miz featured in a top superstars of the month post or if he ever has done here on my blog but he has more than earned the right to feature in the first of this years. The number five spot may seem like a pretty high number to put him at but I one hundred percent believe it is the right place. For the past thew years now the Miz has been booked terribly. He had a couple of strong years including main eventing Wrestlemania and being WWE Champion but since then he has struggled to find himself in the same place. The booking has been so bad that a usual match of he's would for me be used as a bathroom break. I will admit that I do enjoy almost every episode of Miz TV but when it comes to he's actually wrestling booking it has been beyond terrible. However, Over the past month we have seen a huge turn around. Now, I'm not saying that he all of a sudden has been put in phenomenal, match of the year style bouts and is one he's way to a big push any time soon but what I am saying is that things have improved massively for him. He's role as the third wheel in the Styles/Jericho feud gave him place that mattered on the roster this pat month. We saw him feature in two strong matches one on RAW and one on Smackdown. Particularly he's match wit Jericho on Smackdown was a must see in my opinion. It was the match that reminded everyone why he should be booked much better. I can't see things improving massively for the Miz in the near future but I had to acknowledge the fact that he has a really strong month in February and for that he had to be in the top five this month.

4) Chris Jericho
Since returning to action last month, Chris Jericho has been on fire performing better than ever in what was a fantastic feud with new kid on the block AJ Styles. The storyline was basic and simple but very entertaining. For once the WWE create this big over the top storyline. They kept to a simple storyline that captivated the WWE Universe. Chris Jericho VS AJ Styles was a feud that wrestling fans all round the world have been desperate to see for years and year, I being one of them fans and they have not disappointed in the slightest. Through the month of February, Jericho found himself playing more so the role of the heel. Coming across as the typical tough to crack rookie, Jericho made it perfectly clear to Styles that he did not like him nor did he respect him and that while Style has had great success throughout he's career on the indies scene this was the WWE and the phenomenal one still had to prove he was worthy of he's place in the WWE. After scoring he's victory over Styles Jericho initially declined the request of a rematch at Fastlane but after AJ attacked him the future all of famer was left with no choice but to accept and face him one more time and after what was a fantastic match worthy of being noted as a potential match of the year candidate, Jericho showed he's respects towards the new comer and the following night delivered a great little speech to the phenomenal one telling everyone that he felt that Styles had proven himself and was destined to have a great career in the WWE. Throughout the month Jericho has been one of the most entertaining and must see superstars. He kept he's feud with Styles alive and entertaining pushing and carrying the feud so so well. He  has take part in several brilliant matches and so he had to feature in this months top ten superstars of the month.

3) Sami Zayn
Since returning to action at NXT Takeover London, Sami Zayn has had one thing on he's mind. The NXT Championship. All month long he has been fighting to earn number one contender-ship and a shot a facing Finn Balor. However, there have been a couple of things in he's way and by "things" I mean two mountains in Baron Corbin and Samoa Joe. With William Regal setting up a triple threat between the three at the end of last month we saw a controversial ending after both Zayn and Joe were able to force Corbin to tap out at the same time, setting up a one on one match between the two a couple of weeks later. Just like Joe, Zayn put on a fantastic performance showing us all why we love him so much and why NXT is so special. The passion and heart in this match was one that no one could miss. Zayn proved he was well and better than ever giving Joe a real fight on the night. He of course had the crowd strongly behind him throughout the match and Zayn being Zayn fed off that crowd just like he always does giving him the upper hand on several occasions during this match up. We did have another controversial ending when both Zayn and Joe's shoulders were down at the same time leaving the referee questioning who to award the win to. Zayn has some big big matches coming he's way as we get closer to NXT Takeover Dallas and with a number one contender still needing to be crowned expect plenty more entertaining action from Zayn within the next month.

2) AJ Styles
Number one is going to come as no surprise at all but it really did have to be AJ Styles. It was at the Royal Rumble pay per view two weeks ago that we saw the phenomenal one make he's huge WWE debut entering at number three. This was something that had been rumoured for quite some time and was something we all very much anticipated. Despite having that small part of  me that predicted it I didn't allow myself to get my hopes up. Whenever anyone asked me if I thought Styles was going to debut I'd keep my awnser short and sweet. I really didn't want to be disappointed. On the night when he entered the Rumble I basically marked out like crazy! God knows what my neighbours thought was going. Actually talking of Neighbours everyone in my house was so loud that night that the a couple of nights later my neighbour asked me what the noise was about. It's only February but I honestly think come December this will be featured at number one as the most shocking and awesome moment of the entire year. After having a brilliant January we saw the continue on into and through February with he's feud with Chris Jericho continuing on throughout the whole month. The two collided on two more separate occasions including a fantastic or should I say phenomenal match up at the Fastlane pay per view. Each one of their matches got better and better as they went on and the third and final bout was by far the best. The night after the pair tag teamed picking up a victory over the Social Outcasts. This past month has been just as strong if not stronger for Styles who has picked up not one but two victories over a future hall of famer in Chris Jericho as he's momentum continues to get bigger on the road to Wrestlemania. What awaits next for the phenomenal one heading into the biggest event of the year remains something we should all be keeping our eyes on.

1) Dean Ambrose
And finally, taking this months number one spot for superstar of the month is the lunatic fringe himself, Dean Ambrose. When it came down to who to put at number on this month there really was no second thought, Ambrose was the only superstar who in my eyes truly deserved the top spot. Throughout the year so far I have not stopped talking about Dean Ambrose. Now, the whole entire world knows that I am a massive Ambrose fan, there is no denying that and this month he has proven just why he is someone we should all be backing. He was the dominate factor and main attraction throughout the build up to the Fastlane main event cutting amazing promos and being apart of great interviews and segments in the build up. The WWE may be all for Roman Reigns and making it all about the former world champion but Ambrose has proven time and time again, over and over again this past month why he is the true star. Throughout February Ambrose was battling a personal demon as he became obsessed with proving a point. Obsessed with Brock Lesnar. Yes, Fastlane and the Wrestlemania main event laid heavy on he's mind but Ambrose became fixated on the idea of slaying the beast that is Brock Lesnar. Making it he's mission to prove that regardless of how dominate Lesnar is, Ambrose's resilience would be enough for him to eventually take out the former world
champion. This became such a dominate factor in the build up to the Fastlane main event and I was left so so entertained. In between focusing on Lesnar, Ambrose was off performing fantastically in tag team matches with Reigns while also reminding everyone that this triple threat was every man for himself and when the time came, he would put friendship aside and put Reigns away to get to the main event of Wrestlemania. On the night of the triple threat Ambrose was extremely impressive, refusing to be put down by the two bigger opponents he walked into this match with a clear and effective game plan. He may not have walked out of this match the victor but he had the fans strongly behind him and earned the respect of everyone proving that he is more than main event and world champion material. As we head into the heart of Wrestlemania season, Ambrose now faces the toughest challenge yet. Brock Lesnar in a no holds bards street fight at Wrestlemania. After taking the beating of a lifetime from Lesnar hours before RAW last week and coming back fighting proving he's point, Ambrose is showing the world that he is going to be one tough lunatic to put down and the next couple of months are going to be huge for him.

So that is finally it! That is my top ten superstars of February. Dean Ambrose sure as hell deserves that top spot after completely dominating the month of February. I haven't spoken about another superstar more than him and no one has left me more entertained than he has either. Like I said I love writing these posts and I'm so glad I have brought them back! As always you can have your say and let me know who has been your superstar of the month by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.
