NXT Takeover Dallas Predictions: Finn Balor VS Samoa Joe

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good! On Friday the first of April NXT will Takeover Dallas just two days before the biggest Wrestling event of the year, Wrestlemania. With the card looking as strong as ever with the likes of Bayley, Finn Balor, Sami Zayn, Samoa Joe, Austin Aries, Shinsuke Nakamura and many more set to perform on Friday the event will kick start Wrestlemania weekend and possible result in being the best Takeover to date. Throughout March I will be uploading my predictions posts for every single match set on the card. Usually this would be featured in a prediction week but with Wrestlemania also taking place and Review and Reaction posts to upload there would have been no time so we are changing things up a little this time round. Talking of Reviews I have decided that I will not be uploading a Wrestlemania review the night after just because I want to be able to enjoy the show and its going to be a long weekend for us British fans. If you would still like to read a Review on Mania later on in the week then let me know and I will write one for the Saturday of that week. I'm currently not sure if I'm going to be writing a Review for NXT Takeover Dallas.  As always I will link bellow any recent blog posts including this weeks RAW Review and Reactions post. Finally, you can let me know what your predictions are for NXT Takeover Dallas and Wrestlemania are by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.

It may have taken him two controversial bouts and a gruelling two out of three falls match against Sami Zayn, but Samoa Joe has finally been announced the official number one contender for Finn Balor's NXT Championship and on April first the two superstars will collide once again as Joe looks to capture the most prestigious prize in NXT while Balor hopes to keep gold wrapped firmly around he's waist. But witch superstar will walk out of Dallas as champion? In today's blog post we're going to be taking a look back at what both these talents have been up to since Takeover London and make our final bold predictions ahead of their huge match up next month.

Joe emerged as the number one contender after a series of gruelling matches against former NXT Champion, Sami Zayn. It all began in a monster of a triple threat where he had to go through both Zayn and former rival, Baron Corbin to earn number one contender-ship. However, after Zayn and Joe both forced Corbin to tap out at the same time we had our first controversial ending and we later found out the two would go one on one to once again try and crown an opponent for Finn Balor. The two superstars engaged in what was a fantastic one on one but the closing moments saw a double pin resulting in the second controversial ending meaning there was still no number one contender. With time running out and fans growing desperate for one of these superstars to be named as Balor's opponent for NXT Takeover Dallas, general manager William Regal announced that the two would compete in a two out of three falls match to finally get a number one contender. It was last week that we saw this match take place and as they competed in a gruelling match last around forty five minuets, it took the whole episode for these two to battle it out and in the end it was Samoa Joe closed the night with two victories over Zayn and finally he had earned the right to face Balor and have a second chance at capturing the NXT Championship.

Back at NXT Takeover London, Joe and Balor put on one of the greatest matches of twenty fifteen and I felt very lucky to be sitting in the crowd watching the action live. The two hundred and eighty two pound wrecking ball put Balor through he's paces, pushing the champ to he's limits and on several occasions I was sitting there on the edge of my seat certain he had it in the bag and a new champion was going to be crowned. The blunt forces and powerful strikes from Joe left Balor ever so close to loosing he's championship in London but with the fans by he's side and he's resilience kicking in better than ever, Balor was able to keep hold of he's gold and walk out of Wembley still the NXT Champion. However, since London, Joe has been in a fowl mood with only he's loss at London and the NXT Championship on he's mind. He has remained much quieter and has focused he's attentions only on getting a second chance at capturing the most prestigious prize in NXT. He has taken out every superstar in sight that has stood in he's way including two of NXT's top stars in Baron Corbin and Sami Zayn and now he has exactly what he wants. One more opportunity and he certainly is not going to let this one slide. He's more driven, more determine, more frustrated. He now knows what he needs to do defeated Balor, he knows him better, he's studied their previous match and knows where he needs to go to insure he walks out of Dallas the new NXT Champion. Samoa Joe knows he is one Coquina Clutch away from capturing gold. Balor has proven that he can fair against some of the best that NXT has to offer regardless of the size, height, experience, and style but with Joe more intent than ever to prove he is the top dog in NXT can Balor keep hold of he's title against this wrecking ball for a second time?

It was back at Beast in the East of last year that Finn Balor defeated Kevin Owens to become the new NXT Champion. He's victory went down as one of the best and most memorable in NXT history picking up the title in Japan, a place that of course is very very close to the heart of Balor. Since he's victory he has gone on to have one of the most impressive championship reigns in NXT defending he's title regularly and has given us phenomenal match after phenomenal match taking on the likes of Owens, Sami Zayn (at live events), Apollo Crews, Adrian Neville, and of course Samoa Joe. He is officially the longest reigning NXT Champion in history suppressing Neville's two hundred and eighty two day reign. He has become one of the most popular, must see, impressive superstars in all of NXT and is a certain top talent to take the future of the WWE by storm. But before he gets to the main roster he's got a Samoan wrecking ball in Samoa Joe to get through with he's precious title on the line and after NXT Takeover London, the Irish champion knows he is going to have to put up one heck of a fight if he wants to keep hold of he's championship.

There is no denying that this is going to be a brilliant match at Takeover. These two superstars know each other extremely well and we have seen the standard in witch they can deliver from their last championship match that I was lucky enough to be seated at, watching live from the crowd. I do, one hundred and ten percent believe that Balor will be dropping the NXT Championship on April first at Dallas. He has had a phenomenal championship Reign and has arguably brought more to both the championship and to NXT is a brand/product more than any other past champion. At the start of the year he suffered a minor ankle injury that took him out of action for a small while but the champ was soon back to he's feet competing in top matches once again and even while he was on the sideline he kept us all very entertained with he's online videos with NXT Women's champion Bayley (if you have no idea what I'm talking about, go and do some research. You'll thank me after). With Balor achieving so much in NXT, setting the bar so high for future champions and giving us so many great matches over the past year, he is more than ready for the main roster and dropping the championship at Dallas in April will be the first step in getting him to Monday night Raw. Once he drops that title there is nothing keeping him in NXT. Now, my one issue with Balor getting the call up any time soon is that I don't know if there is really something strong waiting for him. We have some great superstars now on the main roster and with many making their return soon including Cena, Cesaro, Orton, and of course Seth Rollins who is back in the ring training for he's return, there will be plenty of amazing feuds waiting for Finn but after what we have seen with Breeze and even Neville in the past as a fan I want to make sure the timing is definitely right. Now, you will see in my Wrestlemania predictions for Taker VS Shane McMahon I mentioned that there is a part of me that believes Balor and the Balor club will cost Taker the match, it's a bold prediction but you can read all about that in more detail in two weeks time so keep an eye out for that. I do think that Balor is going to have the fans on he's side on April first in Dallas. He's such a majorly over baby face and brilliant champion and he of course will have a fantastic performance. If Joe wants to capture gold than he is going to have pull something very impressive and new out of the bag as he already knows. But personally I don't believe Balor will be keeping hold of that title. It's time for a new champion in my eyes.

I don't doubt for a single second that this is going to be a brilliant match and most probably the match of the night. The last time these two went one on one back at NXT Takeover London they gave us a phenomenal bout that will forever go down as one of the greatest matches in NXT history. Like I have already said in this post, I do think Balor is going to put up one heck of a fight and make sure that if Joe wants to walk away with that title than he's going to have to work harder than ever for it but I do think Joe has this in the bag. Since London he has been nothing but focused on getting a second chance to capture the NXT Championship and I'm certain he has this one won. I think Balor will be making he's debut on the main roster very very soon and the time to crown a new champion could not be better and more right than now. The build up and the story has focused greatly on Joe becoming champ and every single part of me believes he will walk out of NXT Takeover Dallas the new NXT Champion.
