Top 5 2016 Money In The Bank Contenders

The Money In The Bank pay per view may be a little while away but after binge watching a load of MITB matches this past weekend I wanted to hop online and get talking about one of my all time favourite pay per views. For the past couple of years here on my blog I have written blog posts talking about MITB favourites for that particular year and despite not making the most accurate predictions in the world they were great fun to write. So today I thought I would write a similar post where I count down the top five two thousand and sixteen Money In The Bank contenders. Now it may be a little early to write this post but this year there are so many hot contenders that I just wanted to start making prediction and talking about the pay per view before picks start to get super predicable! I will admit that I did find this post a little difficult to write purely because narrowing the top contender to just five was a lot harder than I thought considering there was so many contenders so I do list a couple of extra names at the end of the post so make sure you check them out as well! As always any recent blog post including my most recent RAW Review and Reactions will be linked bellow so you can stay all up to date. And finally, you can have your say and let me know what your top five Money In The Bank contenders are by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria

Apollo Crews
He may be one of the newest faces in the WWE but Apollo Crews has made he's way into my top five Money In The Bank contenders for twenty sixteen. Debuting back at NXT Takeover Brooklyn Crews made he's presences known very early on delivering fantastic performances week in and week out. He may not have captured the NXT Championship during he's run in developmental but we did see him challenge for the title and work two brilliant matches against the champ, Finn Balor. He's hard worked soon paid off as on the RAW after Wrestlemania Crews debuted live in Dallas Texas. Since that night he has worked at gaining momentum by scoring simple victories here and thee over the likes of Tyler Breeze, Adam Rose, and Curtis Axel. Looking at the early stages of how Crews is being booked it's very similar to what we saw the company do with Neville when he debuted a year ago. There's nothing big or important happening with him at the moment but there is definitely a feeling of something bigger waiting for him in the near future. Now, to be honest, I wasn't expecting Apollo to debut back on the RAW after Mania. I never could have predicted he's arrival considering the fact that there were so many other superstars in line before him including  Samoa Joe and current NXT Champion Finn Balor. However, it was becoming clear that there wasn't much for him in NXT and so while debuting him on RAW a thew weeks back may have been a surprise I can see why it was a decision made. Personally, I love Crews. I know he has divided opinions and thats nothing to with he's in ring talent at all. We all know he's a fantastic competitor with a diverse, strong, and captivating move set but there have been plenty questioning and doubting Crews' character. I do see where those comments are coming from; if the WWE want him to go on to do great things than he is going to have to work on things like mic skills and character development, pushing those skills to the next level so he can compete against and stand a chance against the huge characters like Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, and Dean Ambrose to name a thew. Despite the doubts and the fact he is so new, I'm one hundred and ten percent rooting for Apollo Crews for this years Money in the bank ladder match. Yes, at this point it's pretty difficult to  predict who will even feature in the ladder match let alone win it but I do believe that Crews has a huge chance at finding himself booked in the match and an even bigger chance at possibly walking out with the briefcase. He's a new, young, hot talent who appears to be a hit with both the fans and the WWE. If the company really to create the idea that new faces can make their way up to the top and stand a chance at becoming champion than someone like Apollo Crews could be a big name heading into Money in the bank this year. He still has a lot more to show at this point but when you look at Crews you see a top main event star and personally I would love to see him with that briefcase in a couple of months time!

Cesaro
To say that Cesaro is one of the most underutilised WWE Superstars in history is an understatement to say the least. For the past four years or so we have seen brilliant performance after brilliant performance and once he stated competing for NXT TV he only grew in popularity and the more we saw of him the more we all began to appreciate him. Fast forward to today and not much has really changed for Cesaro. Even after tun around matches such as one on ones against WWE top man John Cena and those memorable matches against Sami Zayn in NXT, Cesaro is still not getting the true bookings that he deserves. We have seen him compete in a handful of main events throughout the past year or so but he is yet to be given that big push we have all been waiting for for so long. As I am currently writing this Cesaro has been booked in an Intercontinental Championship match against the Miz for the Payback pay per view witch means are going to have wait a little longer to see him back in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship picture. Now, to be honest I do think it is going to be a while before we see him anywhere near that main event picture and that championship. At the moment despite the fact we are seeing a huge change in the type of names that are featuring in the main event scene there seems to be a big story developing and a load of rumours surrounding Roman Reigns, AJ Styles, and Bullet Club witch I will be talking about in more detail here on my blog as the weeks go by so keep an eye out for that, so finding a place for Cesaro in that picture is almost impossible at the moment. We did see him return a thew weeks back at the RAW after Wrestlemania were he competed in the main event to try and earn a championship match at Payback against Roman Reigns, but of course after a brilliant effort it was AJ Styles who walked out with the victory. Since returning we have seen a couple of changes in Cesaro's gimmick/character and a couple of alterations to he's entrance witch I have actually taken a liking to. Apart of me is hopeing that these little changes are little hints at the WWE trying to make a main event talent out of Cesaro. To be honest, we all know that he doesn't need to rip off a suit every week and be given a James bong gimmick to be a main event style superstar; he's a phenomenal wrestle with so much likeability and that mixed with he's decent character is enough to make him a main event talent. Now, we have all been waiting a very very long time for Cesaro to be pushed and given the chance to hold the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. We all also know that Vince McMahon has never been high on Cesaro after expressing his issues with him during his appearance on the Stone Cold podcast. Despite the fact that Vince believes he doesn't connect with the fans everyone I have spoken to strongly believes in Cesaro and the dude has he's own freaking section. It's safe to say he is one of the most liked superstars on the entire roster. I do believe that regardless of what happens at Payback Cesaro will be placed in the Money in the bank ladder match and I do believe that he has a huge chance of walking out as the winner. There is something about this new feeling in the WWE that has me believing that this could be Cesaro's year. He has been waiting and we have been waiting for this moment for a very very long time and nothing would make more happy than to see Cesaro as Mr Money in the bank this year.

Baron Corbin
If you had asked me this time last year if I thought Baron Corbin would be one of the names to consider as the winner of the Money In The Bank ladder match I would have thought you were crazy and most probably would have been more for the idea of him becoming the NXT Champion by mid twenty sixteen. However, after debuting at Wrestlemania earlier this month and winning the Andrea the Giant memorial Battle Royal he has very quickly become a name I have to consider as a potential Money in the bank contender and winner. If you have been reading my blog post for the past thew weeks than you will know that despite wanting and half expecting Corbin to be apart of the Battle Royal at Mania I sure as hell was not expecting him to walk out as the winner. You guys probably know that for the past several months I have been rooting for him to be crowned the new NXT Champion and I still did feel as though there were plenty more things to do with Corbin in NXT. However, there was an opportunity right there staring Corbin in the face at Wrestlemania and he took it and since that night he has been on a roll. Taking out Dolph Ziggler and sending a huge message on the night after Wrestlemania, Corbin has established himself as the lone wolf that every WWE Superstar should be keeping a very very close eye on. So far he has been picking up a pretty strong and positive reaction from fans. During he's time in NXT Corbin did take a lot of heat from fans and it took him along time to get people to notice him and see him as a serious contender worthy of being in the main event. He does make a brilliant heel and I always find myself entertained and interested in what he is doing. I will admit that he still has areas to work on when it comes to mic ability and developing he's character just a little more but he has come so so far in the past year and I think we can all agree that he is everything that Roman Reigns should have been and what the company are doing with him is exactly what they should have done with Reigns. Now, it's been no secret that the WWE have been high on Corbin from day one and over recent weeks he's booking has shown that even more. Unlike Apollo Crews, Corbin has been booked against bigger names and has been making a much bigger impact since debuting on the main roster. With he's look and in ring style and following the direction the WWE seem to be going in with him, I will have Corbin down as a big contender for the Money in the bank ladder match this year. He's going in the right direction, he's looking great at the moment, and taking into consideration how high the WWE are on him I seriously think we should all be keeping a close eye on the lone wolf. He would make an interesting pick for Mr Money in the bank this year and an even more interesting pick for a future WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Dean Ambrose
Now this list would not have been complete without a certain Mr Dean Ambrose.  There is no doubt in my mind that Dean Ambrose is a serious contender in this years Money in the bank ladder match. So far, two thousand and sixteen has been very very strong for Ambrose. Kick starting the year with a great feud against Kevin Owens, he may have lost he's Intercontinental Championship at the Royal Rumble pay per view to the man himself but he later went on to have a strong performance in the actual Royal Rumble match where he came down to the final two alongside Triple H. Since then he has gone on to compete in a handful of brilliant matches and partake in some of the most entertaining storyline's including he's feud against Brock Lesnar and he's new work with Chris Jericho. Despite he's win/loss record not being as great as it should be and the WWE missing out on a couple of great moments for Ambrose this year already he is looking to become one of the front runners for Superstar of the year only four months into twenty sixteen. In he's early career Ambrose has created an impressive resume but there is one thing he is yet to do and that is become WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Now, we all know that the lunatic fringe has come very very close to capturing gold and we have even seen him take the title hostage in effort to prove a point but we are still yet to see the fan favourite actually officially capture gold and become champion. Thinking about it's actually surprising that he is yet to hold the most prestigious title in the WWE. He's a fantastic in ring performer with a lot of experience not to mention he's popularity, amazing charisma and strong mic skills and because of all that we have to believe that he's moment in spotlight is only around the corner. We have seen former Shield members Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns both be given their huge push and the chance to hold the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and we have all been waiting for Ambrose to get he's moments. The two thousand and sixteen Money in the bank ladder match could well and truly finally be he's moment. A couple of years back a great deal of us all believed that Ambrose was the favourite and number one contender when it came to winning the money in the bank ladder match but after having the help of Kane, it was Seth Rollins who walked out with the gold briefcase. Fast forward to today and if we look at how the year has already been going for Ambrose he once again finds himself as a favourite for the win for this years Money in the bank ladder match. He has been waiting a very very long time for this moment and the chance to becoming World Champion and this year he's chances are higher than ever and the possibility of a victory in the ladder match have never been more likely.

Kevin Owens
My personal favourite when it comes to the winner of this year's Money In the Bank ladder match has to be Kevin Owens. I have said it before here on my blog and on twitter that Owens is my favourite for the win this year and I have also spoken about how I believe he is one the most worthy superstars for the win this year. If you are reading this blog post than you probably know that I am a huge fan of Kevin Owens and I have been for several years. After following he's career for so long it has made very happy seeing him sign to NXT and have such a huge and impressive run there. Since coming up
to the main roster he has been on fire taking on some of the biggest and best names the WWE has to offer including John Cena who he scored a win over at Elimination Chamber last year. Talking of last year I actually named Owens as superstar of the year here on this blog and I will link that blog post bellow so you can check out what I think of Owens in full detail. This year he has continued to compete in high quality matches against names such as Dean Ambrose, Adrian Neville, AJ Styles and more and he has remained one of the most entertaining characters/superstars in all of the WWE. Honestly, he is is a treat to watch every single week. If you follow me on twitter you may have seen a couple of months back I tweeted out saying how I believed that the if the WWE did not put the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on Kevin Owens than they would be failing both him and the fans and I still one hundred and ten percent stand by that. He hands down ticks every single box and in my eyes will always have everything it takes and more to be a top name in the company and more importantly WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Now he may be my persona favourite for the win this year but every single part of me strongly believes that he is the general favourite for this years Money in the bank ladder match and the most likely winner. He has come close to getting a championship opportunity but since debuting he has been taking his time and working he's arse off to earn the chance at becoming WWE World Heavyweight Champion and the Money in the bank ladder match this year is he's biggest opportunity and I seriously hope he is at least featured in the match itself witch I'm pretty much a hundred percent sure on.  I would love for Owens to actually be crowned champion at some point in the next yea and I know for sure I will be wearing a Kevin Owens t-shirt and rooting for him on the night.

This year there are plenty of names that we have to consider when it comes to the Money in the bank ladder match and unfortunately I couldn't name them all in a little top five. Names such as Adrian Neville (if he is back from the injury) and Sami Zayn are a couple more to add to the list and consider for the win this year. As usual I would love to know what you guys think so let me know who you are backing at this years Money in the bank pay per view and who you think are the early favourites for the win this year by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.
