Last Week in Wrestling

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling, I hope you are all well and good and had an awesome weekend! Today I have for you my first Last Week in Wrestling post of the year and I have to say I'm pretty excited! I used to love writing these posts but around the last month of twenty seventeen, I struggled to get them up with the focus being so heavy on End of the Year season. The goal now is to upload this post every single Monday but there will be some changes for pay per view weeks for example with next Monday being the first to be affected. We have plenty to get through in today's post including a look at the possible end of Paige's career, Royal Rumble updates, possible new faces joining the WWE as well as full updates regarding the mixed match challenge set to Kick star tomorrow! Throughout the coming days I have some pretty big posts coming up and on Friday I will kick start my Royal Rumble predictions which will run through to next week also! As always, any recent blog posts will be linked bellow including last weeks RAW and Smackdown LIVE highlights. Finally, you can get involved and tell me what you thought of last week in wrestling by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me over at @TezangiVictoria.

WWE News

Paige Forced to Retire?

And we kick start today's blog post off with some really unfortunate news and that, of course, is the rumor that former two time WWE Divas champion Paige has been forced to retire. Only just a month back from her year-long departure from the company Paige suffered a back injury at the hands of Sasha Banks (that by the way is not a dig at Banks. We all know she is not responsible for the issues regarding Paige's career and she does not deserve the heat she has been getting!) and has been out of action since. This past week, however, Paige hit headlines once again after it was revealed by several sources that she may be forced to retire. Paige has previously spoken about her previous injuries and battle with scoliosis. It's been reported that Paige has suffered an injury similar to what left WWE Hall of Famer also forced to retire and as it currently stands it seems very unlikely she will return to the ring. This really is devastating news. I honestly hope that she can make a recovery and get back in the ring. At only twenty-five, there is still so much more for her to do as an in-ring performer and it would be a shame to see her career cut short so soon. This, of course, will be a story we continue to discuss and I'll for sure keep looking for updates!

There have also been reports that Mark Henrey has also retired from wrestling.

John Cena vs The Undertaker Happening?

If there is one Wrestlemania match I have wanted to see for quite some time it is, of course, is John Cena vs the Undertaker. It's a match fans have been discussing for a while and predicting when it could actually happening considering many believed it would be the match to retire Taker. Once again we have reached that time of the year where rumors of this match happening have surfaced once again. With several resources claiming the match will, in fact, be happening this year at Wrestlemania thirty-four. It's rumored that the build for this match will kick start at RAW 25 next week with both men set to appear on the show. Personally, I would love for this match to take place at this years Mania. It one match I've wanted to see booked for the grandest stage of them all and regardless of what anyone thinks of Cena or the doubts surrounding whether Taker should wrestle another match there is no denying this is a dream contest for the grandest stage of them all!

Mixed Match Challenge Ready!

Since the announcement of the Mixed match challenge, I have been so excited about the event! A unique idea that could open so many doors for the future. Last week all the teams and the brackets were realised and honestly, I cannot wait for the tournament to kick start! I will be watching the entire show and a review of the whole thing will be up at the end when the challenge is done! Bellow I have inserted a picture of the brackets so you can take a look at that if you haven't already! I do believe there are a few odd teams that shake things up a little like Asuka and the Miz but the teams that standout for me are Banks and Balor, Bliss and Strowman and my personal favourites for the win Charlotte and Bobby Roode. I will also be live tweeting throughout.

Outside the WWE

Chris Jericho Hits another Career Highligh

Chris Jericho vs Kenny Omega has gone down as an all time great in my books. A fantastic match full of brilliant wrestling, storytelling and character it makes the list of some of my all time favourite pro wrestling matches and you can check out my full review of the match and the show as a whole by clicking the link bellow! I, of course, was not the only person to absolutely love this match with Dave Meltzer awarding it a five-star rating making this Jericho's first five-star rating of his over twenty-year career and honestly it's about damn time! The match truly was fantastic and is more than worthy of the five-star rating. This also makes Jericho one of the oldest stars get this particular rating!

Could Eddie Hall be Considering a Move to the WWE?

Another headline that grabbed my attention this week came from the rumor that suggested Eddie Hall could be considering a move to the WWE. The Worlds Strongest man has announced his retirement from the contest and the twenty-nine-year-old commented in a recent interview that he would be open to joining World Wrestling Entertainment at some point in the future.

WWE Selling to FOX?

And finally, yet another rumor surrounding the WWE potentially selling and this time to FOX. If the rumors are true and the WWE does move to FOX it means the show is likely to go back to the two-hour slot because of a news programme that airs at 10 but as always when it comes to news of the WWE selling I'm not entirely sure on it and I don't really see it happening just yet but again this will be a story that we continue to talk about in the coming weeks and months!

And there we have it! That eas last week in wrestling. As I mentioned this post won't be uploaded next Monday with the focus being on the Royal Rumble but things will return to normal in two weeks time! As always, any recent blog posts will be linked bellow including last weeks RAW and Smackdown LIVE highlights.
