Top 10 WWE Superstars to Watch in 2018 Part 1

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good and have had an awesome week so far! Throughout the first two weeks of January, I'm planning on taking a look at early year predictions. It's here I will discuss some of the matches, feuds, the storyline's I want to take place this year as well as stars to watch and NXT Call-ups to expect also. Most of these posts have been pre-posted so there may be some dated facts but all of that will be edited and notes in each of those posts will be made clear to allow things to make sense. Now, today we're going to be focusing on one of my favourite annual posts I write here on my blog and that's counting down the superstars I believe we should all be watching in the year ahead. I write this post every single January and it's a fun little way to take a look at some of the stars I believe could be big time standouts in the year ahead. Two thousand and eighteen looks to be a very interesting year for pro wrestling with new faces joining the WWE and the women's division forever climbing to new heights so there really is a lot to look forward to! As always, any recent blog posts will be linked bellow including everything from of the year season last month! Finally, you can get involved and let me know who you believe we should be watching this year by leaving a comment bellow or by dropping me a tweet over at @TezangiVictoria.

Braun Strowman

Two thousand and seventeen was a huge year for Braun Strowman. The rise of the monster amongst men was one of the standouts of the year. Braun rised to the top an ended twenty seventeen on a big-time high. Throughout the year bouts against the likes of Roman Reigns, Big Show, and Kane showed him to be the best big man on the roster today and a leading face on the roster right now. With such a big year to follow the pressure is on for Strowman but he already has a Univeral Championship coming up later this month were he will compete in a triple threat alongside Kane and of course the current champ, Brock Lesnar. The fan favourite to walk out the victor things are looking very promising for Braun heading into the new year and he's one of the superstars I'm most excited about seeing what comes his way. I do worry that things will go backwards for him but with his momentum so high, being so over and the year he had last it seems unlikely his push will be dropped anytime soon and I know I for sure will be remaining optimistic.

Mandy Rose

While still very very fresh on the scene Mandy Rose was one of the first names I had written down in my notes for this blog post. Joining Paige alongside Sonya Deville a couple of months back Rose was brought up to the main roster very very early into her career with minimal time spent down in NXT and TV appearances there. However, it's very clear that the WWE is high on her. Her call-up makes sense as does Deville with it fitting perfectly with the story but I was able to spot just who of the two the company may just favor. Mandy has the look the WWE love. A striking resemblance between her and Trish Stratus is something that is forever touched on. She's already pinned Mickie James during tag team action and it's evident that in the future she is one the WWE will give a push to one way or another. She works as a brilliant heel but you can also see the potential for a decent babyface. Now, I don't expect her to compete in a big five-star match anytime soon but I am expecting a good solid year for Mandy Rose. I'm expecting to see a pretty big push, big opportunities and storyline's that will make her a focus point of the division.

Elias

So last year I became quite the Elias Samson fan (yes I'm still calling him Elias Samson). His run in NXT wasn't something I enjoyed and I never took to his character during that time but it was made clear that he was someone who NXT just wasn't best suited for. He's shined very brightly since his call-up and it's evident that he belongs on the bigger stage. The past year his competed in solid matches against the likes of Finn Balor, Matt Hardy and more all of which he has picked victories up against and while it's very unlikely he will be thrown into the Universal championship picture anytime soon I am hoping to see a good strong year for Elias. He's likely to at least be given an IC title opportunity or even a surprise winner for this years Andre the Giant Memorial battle royal. It's those little moments I'm really expecting to see this year from Elias. Strong even booking throughout the twelve months, the occasional standout moments and maybe even a babyface run towards the end. Regardless, Elias remains one of the names to really watch this year.

Jason Jordan

Two thousand and seventeen was a very interesting year for Jason Jordan. Splitting him up from Chad Gable was an interesting move considering they worked so well together as a tag team and proved to be a big risk. Revealing him to Kurt Angle's kayfabe son didn't go down too well and has been struggling big time to get over. However, there really is no denying just how much of a skilled and talented in-ring performer he is. He's delivered brilliant matches against the likes of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and John Cena and when you're working such amazing contests against such big names it most certainly does not go unnoticed. I do believe he is going to continue to struggle to get over with the fans and the best move without a shadow of a doubt is turning him heel. The signs are already there and it's clear just how much they can do with him working a heel role. If I was booking him for Wrestlemania than a match against Kurt himself would be perfect. Turning his back on his father, sick and tired of having to prove himself, and his losing streak he currently has really does add to this. We can see tensions between the two and I really do hope this is something that the WWE focus on this year! There is so much potential where Jason Jordan is concerned and I'm excited to see where things go for him.

Drew McIntyre

And finishing off part one of this post we have the former NXT Champion, Drew McIntyre. Sure to join the main roster once recovered from his injury twenty eighteen is looking very promising. His run in NXT last year upon his return was fantastic. The WWE gave him the push he always deserved, his momentum was high and captured the NXT Championship soon into his return. His injury was such a shame and came at such a bad time but I'm confident this won't hold him back and when his well and healthy again the WWE will have him on the main roster for either RAW or Smackdown LIVE and they will have big things planned for him. Drew has come way too far for things to slow down anytime soon and I'm expecting some big-time opportunities coming his way. Matches and feuds against the likes of Jason Jordan, Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe, Randy Orton, Seth Rollins, the Miz and much more make for true must-sees and promising matches and storyline's I can't wait to tune into! Regardless of what brand he is moved to he will be a huge part of the roster and much needed at the time.

And that wraps up part one of this blog post. Part two will be uploaded very soon so keep an eye out for that, for now, however, you can get involved and let me know who you believe we should be watching this year by leaving a comment bellow or by dropping me a tweet over at @TezangiVictoria.
