NXT Review and Reactions

Samoa Joe
Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good! I'm back today with this weeks NXT Review and Reactions. Le's be honest, it's been a while since I uploaded an NXT Review and Reactions blog post. I literally cannot remember the last time I uploaded an NXT Review and Reactions post and I have to admit I have really missed uploading these. I have obviously still been watching the show but I've been so busy writing prediction posts for live specials and pay per views and so I have no time to watch NXT in enough detail to write a blog post about and I haven''t had the time to actually write, but at the moment I seem to be on track of everything so I thought this would be the perfect week to bring it back and I know you guy love this blog post. Now, I don't want to waste too much time before I get into the actual post but before I can I have a couple of updates and reminders for you. I'm going to start with NXT month. I have already mentioned that there has been a set back for NXT month and instead of it returning in July it's now going to be coming back in August, my birthday month. I really do wish that I didn't have to push it back again but I have been so busy recently with all the live shows and prediction posts that I have no time to pre post for NXT month. I would love to know what posts you would like to see in the season to let me know by leaving a comment bellow. I will also soon be brining you my updates and news surrounding my podcast and a couple of other new projects I'm working on. As usual I will link bellow any recent blog posts including last weeks RAW Review and Reactions my Money in the bank review and reactions blog post. Finally, you can let me know what you thought of last nights show by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.

Last night's show got a surprise start when Hideo Itami came down to the ring wearing a suit and sporting a serious look on he's face. I say "surprise" because as we all know about a month or two ago Hideo suffered a shoulder injury and he's not due to compete for around three to four months I believe. I do think the injury was timed terribly. He hasn't been on the WWE scene very long at all and I do think huge things were waiting just around the corner for him. I mentioned in my last NXT Takeover predictions that I was convinced he was going to win the triple threat he was scheduled to compete in and would go on to face Kevin Owens for the championship so it's such a shame that he didn't even get to actually compete in the match, but I hope he takes the right am mount of time to recover and come back fighting. There's no chance in hell is this injury going to throw him down to the bottom. Anyway, back to last night and Hideo had an in ring interview with Greg Hamilton (can I just say that I'm really not a fan of Greg Hamilton. He might grow on my as the years go by but right now I'm not seeing the spark with him or why he is even there because I honestly do not think he's great at what he does at all)where he told the NXT universe he would be out of action for three to four months as I mentioned above, he also hyped the upcoming WWE show in Japan set to take place on July 4th (the show will air on the Network) where Kevin Owens will defend he's NXT championship against Finn Balor. He also said that he would be competing and going one on one with the winner of that match. The words of Hideo grabbed the attention of the champion, Kevin Owens who came down to the ring raising the fact that everyone was blaming him for Hideo's injury and so he might as make the injury worse. It was then that Finn's music hit as he came out to attack Owens only to then allow Rhyno to come out and knockout Balor. I really am liking the work going on right now with Samoa Joe, Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, and Rhyno. There's a great little feud going on between Balor and Rhyno that I'm liking. Rhyno makes a great convincing heel and the up and coming work between him and Balor is set to be of a really high standard. We all know that Owens is super busy right now working Smackdown, RAW, and NXT shows but he really is keeping up amazingly well. He's currently technically feuding with three superstars; John Cena, Samoa Joe, and Finn Balor and I love how clever the booking is for NXT. With the champ feuding with both Joe and Balor it's setting up some great storyline's for the next six months or so. NXT really is the product to be watching right now. I thought this was a great opening to the show. It got everyone ready for the hour ahead and had some great story development. Itami is set to play a huge role come the end of the year.

The first actual match of the night was a tag team match. We continued to see Jason Jordan on the hunt for a new tag team partner after things didn't work out between him and Tye Dillinger. I've mentioned millions of times on twitter and here on my blog that I loved the pairing of Dillinger and Jordan. I thought they looked great together, they worked really together and they had so much potential. It's a shame the WWE dropped the ball with them because I honestly do think they could of had huge success in both NXT and WWE main roster. But they are both great singles competitors so I'm staying positive for them both. In all honesty, I had to say it but I do think Jason Jordan will have more luck than Dillinger. He's younger, looks a little better and is more popular with the fans. The reason I hate to say that is because I know how hard Dillinger has worked over the years. He's a seriously underrated superstars with so much talent that we just don't see and it's such a shame because I cannot see much coming he's way at all. Over the past couple of months we have seen Jason on the search of a new, perfect tag team partner with occasional backstage segments with Chad Gable. We all know that eventually Gable will be made the official partner of Jordan but I have enjoyed the build up. It's been nice seeing him get the spotlight a little more and it's been a nice easy, predicable but not annoying story to follow. I don't know that much about Gable's history but what I do know is he's a seriously talented young man and so seeing the work between him and Jordan is going to be very interesting. Last night, Jordan was paired with Sylvester Lefort. It's been a while since we saw Sylvester compete on NXT TV, he had a great feud earlier on in the year but for some reason he just faded into the background witch is shame but it was nice seeing him back in action last night. He did have a little blast from the past last night as he's opponents were none other than Enzo Amore and Big Cas. I thought this was really clever booking. Enzo and Cas are currently on their way to becoming NXT tag team champions and they are by far the hottest, fan favourite tag team on the scene right now so even though Jordan and Lefort were booked to loose they got their time in the spotlight and it allowed the story of Jordan on the hunt to find a tag team partner to take centre stage and get slightly more attention. The match itself was short lived and fairly dominated by Enzo and Cas. Jordan got some good offence but in the end it was Enzo who was able to get a quick victory. He did spend more time in the ring and Cas did anyway.

Divas action next as Dana Brooks went one on one with KC Cassidy. We've actually seen KC compete a couple of times this month on NXT TV  and I have to say I've been really really impressed by here. She's one hundred per cent a women to pay very close attention to over the next year or so. I think that is what I love so much about NXT. Unlike the main roster, we can expect anything from the women of the division. There's always excitement around them because you always know these girls are going to bring it and I do think that KC is going to be a huge success in the company if she keeps doing what she is doing. Another thing I'm loving and what I always love about NXT and it's female talent is that we don't just get one divas feud going at the same time, we have multiple things going on in the division and that really does keep me watching the product and backing the girls even more. It's been a while since we saw Sasha Banks in action but she was previously working with Becky Lynch while we also had the feud between Carmella and Alexa Bliss going on and continues too, then we have Emma and Bayley and Charlotte and Dana Brooks, we just don't get that on the main roster and it's such a shame. I'm loving the odd alliance between Dana and Emma. Emma is making such a great heel and their actually working really well together. I know Dana gets some heat and I have to admit I haven't always been her biggest fan but I think a lot of us seem to forget that this is the developmental territory. She doesn't need to be perfect just yet. This is the place and the time for her to grow and learn I do think she is getting better better week after week. Her mic work is getting stronger and so is her in ring and character work so let's cut her some slack. Last night's match was predicable and we all knew how it was going to end but it was a nice little part of the night and an easy way for Dana to get a victory and KC to have another good showing. It was an easy watch match that I did get into. KC had another good showing as predicted but in the end it was Dana who scored the win gaining even momentum.

The third match of the night was another tag team match and this time Mojo Rawley and new partner Zack Ryder aka the hype bro's took on Angelo Dawkins and Sawyer Fulton. It won't come to any surprise that I'm really not a fan of the Rawley/Ryder pairing. I've mentioned before that I'm probably the biggest Mojo hater and I've never ever been a Zack Ryder fan, put them together and it's honestly my worse nightmare. I will be honest, I almost completely blanked out when this match came on and I lost all interest. It was a clear, predicable ending, I have no idea where they are going with this but it will be interesting to see if this works for against Mojo. I have to admit, there was so much energy and excitement in the match that at parts I was getting involved with the chants and found myself backing my two most hated superstars. They dominated most of the match and were able to pick up another big win.

Finally, our main event, and after how the show kicked off we got a one on one match between Rhyno and number one contender for the NXT championship, Finn Balor. This is a dream match and pairing for me so I was really happy with the main event. I have already spoke about how I'm feeling with the two feuds going on right now so there's no need to go over that again. I as really looking
Dana Brooks after match
forward to this match and I had some really high standards but because of the fact that NXT is only a one hour show we can't expect as much. I did think it was a little predicable but it was great booking. Feuding with Rhyno is a great way to keep Balor centre of attention and with bags of momentum before he's big championship match in Japan. They didn't get as long in the ring as I would of liked but it was a really good match and one that I was able to really get into very quickly. Owens on commentary was just amazing. He did distract me from the actual match because it was that entertaining but it was a nice addition to everything. Balor as able to pick yet another big big win adding to he's momentum before Japan and he's NXT championship match. After the match Owens went to attack Balor but was interrupted by Soma Joe, setting the arena on fire. Who would of thought it, Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, Rhyno, and Samoa Joe all in the same place. Wrestling dreams have come true guys.

So that was this weeks NXT, let me know what you thought of the show by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.
