Could Baron Corbin Be Next NXT Champion

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well. Today's blog post it looking at NXT talent, witch already makes it one of my favourite posts to write. Some of you may remember me doing NXT Season last October, and I really really enjoyed doing it and you guys really enjoyed reading the posts in the series, I do plan on doing another NXT season later this year so do let me know if that's something you would be interested in. Today I'm taking a look at at one f my favourite NXT superstars, Baron Corbin and asking could he be the next NXT Champion. You may remember be writing up a blog post listing five superstars who wont hold the NXT championship before going up to the main roster and Corbin did feature in that list but after recent events and rumours my opinions have almost completely changed around and I really do think he is in the run for being the next champion. What I'm going to be doing today in this blog post is going through what Corbin has already done while being in the WWE, including the events he has taken part in and the things he has done so far that have not been televised, I'll then tell you why I think Corbin could well and truly be our next NXT Champion. As always, at the end of the post I will link bellow any recent posts including this weeks RAW Review and Reactions and my latest top five superstars of the week, so you can keep all up to date on all my latest blog post. There will also be all the links to my social media accounts including, twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Tumblr. Finally, you can let me know what your opinions are on today's topic by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.

After being showcased twice on NXT TV as part of two separate  tag teams, Baron Corbin finally made he's official NXT debut mid last year when he took on CJ Parker and he's open challenge at NXT Takeover. Ever since we have seen Corbin completely dominate every man who stands before him and has made a true name for himself very early on in he's career. It wouldn't take long for Baron to showcase he's strength and unique image and a certain pattern in he's matches really allowed him to be separated from the other men on the roster. Corbin's short, one sided matches went down a treat with the NXT universe and became he's "thing" as the company used the strong reactions from the crowd to kick start he's career and for weeks we would see him take on varies jobbers and defeat them in some of the shortest times in WWE history. From this Baron became very marketable as the big guy with the undefeated streak and this also was the foundation of he's first major feud. When the WWE decided to put Corbin and Bull Dempsey in a feud I could not have been more happy. I spent months waiting for Corbin to debut on NXT TV and even though I had been enjoying he building up stage, I wanted more. He was clearly being held back and he needed something strong that would put him over and set him off in the right direction. Bull Dempsey was the perfect man in helping Corbin do just that.

When you look at Corbin and Dempsey you just know these guys are money. They have a very different physical image and style in the ring but at the same time the manage to be very similar also. The chemistry between the two was strong from the get go and you knew these guys could really put on a great feud. The WWE had a good way of kick starting their feud with the two trying to top one another's wins against various opponents seeing who could pick up their wins quicker. When they did eventually meet in the ring Corbin stayed on top every time picking up al three wins over Dempsey. Now, I had really high expectations for this feud and I was really disappointed with what we actually got. At one point the two had a no disqualification match at NXT Takeover event I really was expecting quiet a lot but what we got was beyond disappointing. I completely understand that the show was only two hours and NXT don't have as much air time but I honestly think these guys could of had one of the best matches of the year and they both could of made a huge impact in that one match alone. But does the simple fact that Corbin was booked to win all three of their matches mean more than we think?

It's been rumoured for a while now that the WWE are very high on Baron Corbin and why shouldn't they? At almost seven foot, nearly three hundred pounds and strong, unique image, he ticks all the boxes and stands out for all the right reasons. In he's short career he's had seriously huge comparisons including several comparisons to the Undertaker, witch by the way I totally see. Also, Corbin hasn't wrestled all that much on TV but he already has he's own T-shirt and recently during Wrestlemania Axxess did a signing and panel with the current NXT Women's champion Sasha Banks and the current NXT Champion Kevin Owens. During live show's he has take on some of the top names in the promotion including Tyler Breeze (witch you can see in the picture above). At Wrestlemania Axxess he also competed in the tournament to determine the NXT star to compete in the second annual Andre the giant memorial battle royal. In a short amount of time Corbin has really done a lot and the WWE have put a lot of faith in him and as a result he has become one of the bigger faces of the company despite not making as much TV appearances as some of the men he has stepped in the ring with.

We all know that short lived matches are Barons thing but if he's gonna make it anywhere in the WWE he's going to need more than thirty second matches up he's sleeve and even though I have been a fan of he's from the start all I wanted was a nice full length match that gave him the opportunity/ chance to show what he is capable of doing. The turning point Corbin's career so far and the moment he got he's time to show what he is capable of in the ring was when he had he's one on one match with Adrian Neville earlier this year. I did actually have this in my top twenty matches of the month and I'm gonna insert what I wrote in that blog post here:
"Content from NXT Review and Reactions- It was then time for the man who gravity forgot to take on the much larger, Baron Corbin. I mentioned in last weeks Review ad Reactions post that this match was extremely important for Baron Corbin. It was important that he showed he's more than a ten second star and can do so much more in the ring. And after all, this was the semi final match in the number one contenders tournament for the NXT Championship, it doesn't get more important than that. Now, Baron is a big guy, almost seven foot, nearly three hundred pounds. The numbers themselves are enough, but because we haven't seen that much of Corbin in the ring I don't think anyone really knew what to expect. But I have to admit, I loved this match, I thought Corbin proved everything he needed to prove and really did have he's moment to shine. It was a slow start, I still think he needs to brush up and work on looking a little neater in the ring but when he's in the ring with someone like Neville, who's smaller and faster, he's going to struggle a little. Corbin used he's size and strength to he's advantage and had some great spots, hitting Neville with a monster of a clothesline. This was by far Barons best performance to date. He really proved he has a lot to show and I was really really impressed. He dominated most of this match and showed he is one to really watch in the near future. Despite the amazing performance, after Bull Dempsey made a sneaky appearance, throwing Corbin into the steel post, it was enough for Neville to take advantage and hit the red arrow in order to get the win and qualify for the final round."

So the big question that we are answering today is, could Baron Corbin be the next NXT champion? I say it's not an impossible theory. At the moment Kevin Owens is dominating NXT and I do think that the main storyline that will dominate the roster for a thew months is Kevin Owens VS Sami Zayn with Owens' aim to get rid of Sami Zayn so he can go up to the main roster witch will more than work and go down a treat with the fans. Now, if this is the plan then this will be a thew months or so in the making and that does mean that there would be time for someone else to get their build up in time for a title shot. At the moment we are seeing Corbin work as a baby face on TV but I do know he has done some heel work at live events. If they plan on keeping him a baby face than the likely hood of him becoming the next number one contender is high. When we look at the other top superstars on the roster who could be the next champion guys like Tyler Breeze, Finn Balor, and Hideo Itami spring to mind but that let's take a look at their actual chances becoming champion. Don't get me wrong anyone of them could hold the title next, literally it  would make perfect sense for either Hideo or Balor to be the next champion and is very very likely. However, let's look at Finn Balor. He has already had a shot at the NXT championship against Owens and the pair had an outstanding match a month or so back, out of everyone on the roster Balor is the most likely next NXT champion and getting him back in the picture wouldn't be difficult at all. However for a while now, I'd say since the Royal Rumble there has been strong rumours that Balor will be making he's main roster debut much much sooner than we may have thought. We then have Tyler Breeze who did feature in my list of NXT superstars who will not be champion before they go up to the main roster. Now, Breeze had an amazing past couple of months and has literally been on fire (okay maybe not literally) but I still don't think he will be champion any time soon and I certainly doubt he will be the one to knock off Kevin Owens. Then we have Hideo. Another extremely likely name to be the next champion and someone who could easily be the next champion. One last little name I forgot was recently signed, Uhaa Nation. If you don't know who this guy is then seriously go check him out because he's signing is a huge deal and is yet another big name likely to challenge Owens for the title sometime in the future, especially is the WWE have plans on making Owens the longest Reigning NXT champion.

So where does Baron Corbin come into it? Well it's plain and simple, when you take all the names above out of the picture who are you left with? What other superstars could be added to the list? No doubt about it Baron Corbin is in there somewhere. I'm not going to sit here and say that he is championship ready right here and now, because trust me he's far from it. He still has plenty to show in the ring and lots to improve on but the simple fact is, is we have only seen a taster of what Baron
Corbin is all about. If we gather together everything we have seen from live shows, TV time, and interviews you can't help but be impressed. He's character and fan admonition puts him high on the list of potential next NXT champions. If the WWE use the time that Owens and Zany feud to also build up Corbin then come August he could well and truly be ready for a title shot. Another reason he could well and truly be the next champion is because of how convincing he's win will be. Owens is a tough dude, we all know that, and he has knocked down some of the top names including Adrian Neville and Finn Balor since being champion, Corbin's size and past showing of pure dominance means if he was to defeat Owens is would be convincing and if you give him a thew months to grow and improve and show more of he's wrestling ability then there is no reason why he couldn't be the next NXT champion.
