Why this is an Important month for Rusev

Rusev after becoming United States champion
Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World. This past Monday on RAW the WWE crowned a new United States champion and that man would be the Bulgarian Brute himself, Rusev. In today's post I'm going to be taking a deeper look into what holding the US title will do for Rusev and why the next month is extremely important for the young superstar. I will leave the link's bellow to any recent post's and as always you can let me know what YOU think of today's topic by leaving a comment bellow in the comments section or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.

Since arriving on the main roster earlier this year, Rusev has made an interesting impact in one of sports entrainments biggest companies. The WWE universe has given the young talent a rough time and have criticised he's talent and questioned he's position on the roster. I for sure have been one to make several harsh comments both on twitter and here on my blog. I have, on numerous occasions brought it to my readers attention that Rusev may not be the big star the WWE want to perceive him as.Many have pointed out that Rusev will not last on top and will soon become another failed talent, being pushed down to the mid card/ jobbers section of the roster, not making it at becoming a main event superstar. Now this is not Rusevs' fault at all. The WWE have made some strange decisions with Rusev creatively. With the gimmick he currently has, the WWE had so many opportunities to really make him a top star and give him a good debut year. But instead, they have been very slow in creating a star out of Rusev. I thought the idea at the beginning, of having him in squash matches was a good idea. It allowed him to gain momentum and increase he's popularity on the main roster, I'm still not sure if the Royal Rumble entry was a good move or not. But WWE over did it with the squash matches and he quickly became boring and entered the mid card section of the roster. They then tried getting him into stronger feuds with bigger superstars on the roster who would try and prove America is the greatest country. But once again WWE went to far and too long and the missed a huge opportunity with the storyline between him and Swagger, witch I have mentioned several times before and I will go into more detail about later on in today's post.

This past Monday it was announced that Rusev would  go one on one with Sheamus for the United States championship, exclusively on the WWE network after RAW. I automatically thought this was an intresting idea. I have said from the beginning that a feud between Sheamus and Rusev would be a good root to go down and I always wondered (and still do) why they took so long to get the two in the ring together. I have also said several times here on Talk Wrestling World that Rusev should be the United States champion. I honestly think it makes so much sense and they could do a lot with him as the champ, however I do think they are really late with this and he should of held the title months back. It would of made more sense to either have Jack Swagger at the champ months back and have Rusev defeat him or have Rusev capture the title months ago and have him and Swagger feud for the title, that way they wouldn't of damaged Rusev and Swagger and it also would of given Swagger the huge push he needed. The idea of having an Irish United States champion go one on one with a Russian for the title took away the whole idea of Rusev and what he is about. I also think that it's a shame that he and Sheamus didn't get to have a full on feud because I do think they could of showed a lot. The match it self was pretty good, well I personally managed to really get into it but I do think it was only because what was on the line. I did predict as soon as the match started that Rusev would come up on top and become the new United States champion, it was extremely predictable.

So why the next thew months important for Rusev? Well, as we have already spoke about, the WWE have given Rusev a very up and down year, where we have seen some amazing moments from him and some not so amazing moments. The booking has been extremely weak and storyline's have lacked originality and creativity. Now he holds the United States championship it is important the WWE get everything right with him and they make the right decisions. Especially booking. What I love about him being the champ is he brings importance back to the United States championship. I have lost count how many times I have mentioned that the WWE need to restore importance to their titles. In these next thew months we need to see Rusev more involved in bigger storyline's and the WWE need to break away from the work they have given him all year. We need to see something new from him, something more interesting and gripping, something that will draw in the WWE universe and get excited about he's work. If they have him work the same storyline's the WWE fans will loose all hope and interest in both Rusev and the United States championship. They must start making him work with bigger names on the roster. He needs longer matches, more TV time and he's name mentioned much more. It's important that because of he's gimmick and the fact they have him as the United states champ that they push him more and more each weak as a major heel. The odd squash matches are okay to have but we need him in bigger matches with the likes or Ryback, Cesaro (either as a heel or face would work) and maybe even Dean Ambrose.

The question on everyone's mind now is, is who can defeat Rusev? And this is a question I keep asking myself also. Who will the WWE push big enough to hold the US title? I personally think it will be best to have him hold on to the title until the Royal Rumble PPV. Having him drop the title before will leave him to loose any momentum he has gained over the past year. This does mean however that NXT stars set to debut in the next thew months will have the opportunity to have a big push on the debut month, maybe challenging Rusev for the United States championship.

The WWE have also been teasing the fact that Rusev may become the next member of team Authority for the Survivor Serious PPV. This would be an interesting move, however with team Cena more likely to come up on top at the PPV, having Rusev on the loosing team might not be what's best for business. However, it is arguable. If Rusev was on team authority he would be a big apart of the show and give him a much needed main event push. It would allow team authority to look strong in the middle or start of the match however, if team Cena are set to come up on top, than it will allow him to get a first pin fall or submission defeat, without being shamed in a singles match. It would also allow him to enter a new feud with who ever eliminates him. There is also the angle they could go down is that, if Cena was the last man left on he's team and Rusev the last on he's, Rusev could be the man to keep the Authority alive and in power, and that way it would give him a huge push and get him in a feud with Cena witch has been rumoured for months now. If the WWE do have a feud between Rusev and Cena, it is extremely important they do it right and be very careful with how they do it.

So that's what I think. But I wan't to know what YOU think. Let me know if you think this next  @TezangiVictoria.
