Get to know: Paige

Paige with NXT women's championship
Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog, It's NXT month here on Talk Wrestling World as you all know already, and so far I have given you get to know's, top fives, news post and more. I will leave the link's to any recent post bellow so you can go check those out if you haven't done so already. Today's post is a get to know so let me know who know you would like to get to know next, by leaving a comment bellow or sending me a tweet at @TezangiVictoria.

With it being NXT month on Talk Wrestling World I wasn't sure weather or not to include Paige's get to know in this month's series but I decided to do so anyway. I think the everyone already know's how much I love Paige. I'm a huge fan of her's and I have been since day one, and I'm talking about way before she became a WWE diva. I have to say that being British myself I may be a little biased in this post so be aware of that. I honestly think Paige is one of the best things to happen to the female division in the company She is swimming with potential and if the WWE use her correctly she will easily go on to be a hall of fame diva. With fan's already comparing her to the likes of Lita, she has set some high expectations and raised the bar for everyone on the roster. She maybe the youngest WWE divas champion in history but she has bags of experience and screams potential. There is not a doubt in my mind that she will go on to achieve great things in the company. She has already made WWE history twice by becoming the youngest ever divas champion and the first NXT women's champion. She's participated in some of the best divas matches in recent years and has had her fair share of memorable moments in FCW, NXT and the WWE main roster. I was aware of Paige and her work before the WWE but most the stuff I remember Is from FCW, but if you haven't seen any of her work from before the WWE I seriously advice you to go and check it out. Coming from a family of British Wrestlers and knowing William Regal from basically birth it's always been Paige's destiny to be a WWE diva. I've said it plenty of times before but I hate what they done with her since coming to the main roster. They've completely changed her character and to be honest I just want the anti diva that we all know and love back. But I'll save what I wanna say about that for the rest of the post, but for now let's get to know Paige.

Before Paige...
Saraya- Jade Bevis was born on the seventeenth of August 1992 in Norwich England. Her parents are very popular British Wrestlers, Ricky Knight and Julia Hamer-Bevis. I think it's safe to say that wrestling has been apart of Saraya's life from the womb when mum Julia unintentionally wrestled while seven months pregnant. Bevis say's that as a child she was scared of wrestling because the injuries her family received and the concept that her parents fought other people for a living. When Bevis was around 10/11 years old, her father ran a wrestling training school every month. Bevis would get in the ring every time she had an opportunity too and her brother's would teach her how to wrestle. This was until she was 13 year's old witch was when she made her official debut as a wrestler, when she filled in her for a wrestler. In 2012 Channel four did a documentary about her and her family entitled The Wrestlers: Fighting with my family. Bevis also appeared in a film Brierly with her mother called Malice in Wonderland in 2009.

European Promotions...
So her official debut was back in 2005 when she was only thirteen. Her father was running a wrestling show and he got her to replace one of the wrestlers who failed to turn up.Her first recorded match was in April of 2006 performing under the ring name Britani Knight, teaming with her mother who went under the ring name Sweet Saraya, the two picked up a loss in a triple threat tag team match. Knight then allied with Melodi to form a tag team named the Norfolk Dolls and they wrestled for several English promotions. The Norfolk Dolls won the World Association of Women's Wrestling (WAWW) Tag Team championships in June of 2007, but it became inactive due to no title defence from the girls.
At the age of 14 Knight sent out numerous resumes to wrestling promotions around Europe and earned the chance to wrestle in countries including, Scotland, Wales, France, Turkey, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, as well as the United States, managing to by herself at 14. She began to compete for singles championships without much success. In September of 2007, Knight competed in Scotland for the World Wide Wrestling League (W3L) Women's championship, but lost to Sara in the tournament finals. On December 2007, Knight took part in a tournament to become the first WAWW British champions but lost in the tournament.
Paige and mum Sweet Saraya
She would go on to achieve more singles success in 2009. In August of that year Knight defeated her mother Sweet Saraya in a two out of three falls match for the vacant, Herts and Essex (HEW) Women's championship. Later on in the month Knight defeated Saraya again this time to capture the WAWW British Title. Knight captured the Real Deal Wrestling (RDW)Women's title from her mother in an elimination match.
In December 2009, while in HEW, Knight won the RQW Women's championship by defeating Jetta in a champion VS champion match while her HEW title was on the line. On May of 2010 Knight and her mother challenged Amazon and Anaya for the PWF Ladies tag team championships, witch they won and on the seventeenth of July 2010 Knight lost the HEW championship to her mother.  On the 22nd of January 2011, Knight captured the German Stampede Wrestling Ladies title from Blue Nikita. She re-captured the HEW women's championship from he mother on the 11th of March. Knight returned to Pro Wrestling: EVE on the 8th of April to participate in a two- night tournament, to crown the first ever Pro Wrestling: EVE championship, in the end she won the title to become the first champ, defeating Nikki Storm in the finals. On April 30th, Knight defeated Amy Cooper  to win the SCW Ladies title. She also won the WAWW Hardcore championship in August of 2011

Shimmer Women's Wrestling...
Bevis, again billed as Britani Knight, debuted for the all women's wrestling promotion Shimmer Women's Athletes on the 26th of March 2011, at the tapeings for Volume 37. Bevis would team with her mother Saraya Knight as the Knight Dynasty being managed by Rebecca Knox now known as Becky Lynch in the WWE and defeated Nikki Storm and Ariel via DQ when the other team used the Dynasty's bras knuckles. This would lead to a shot at the Shimmer Tag Team championships at Volume  38, but they failed to pick up the championships.
The Knight Dynasty lost another Shimmer Tag Team championship match in October 2011 at Volume 42 at the end of the match against Ayako Hamada and Ayumi Kurihara, Saraya refused to help Britani. This led to Saraya then scolded Britani after the match. At Volume 23, Britani lost to Jessie McKay in a singles match witch was her third defeat, this would lead Saraya disowning (in a storyline) Britani and slapping Britani witch would lead to an all out brawl witch you can see on YouTube and I will leave the link to that video bellow. Britani challenged her mother witch happened at Volume 44, where Britani defeated Saraya in a no DQ match, this would be her final match in Shimmer.

The WWE....
Bevis was first informed that the WWE were holding try-outs when a talent scout came to a show in England. In her first try in 2010 Bevis changed her whole appearance, dyeing her hair, tanning, taking her piercings out and all round trying to look like the way she thought they would want her to look like. However she didn't succeed, and was told to come back as her self the next time. So that's what she did in 2011 and succeeded in the April try-outs of that year. In September of 2011, Bevis signed a contract with WWE and would report to it's then developmental territory FCW (Florida Championship Wrestling). She made her debut for FCW at a house show on the 5th of January 2012, using the ring name Saraya. Bevis than had her ring name changed to Paige when she made her television debut on the February 26th tapeings. Paige formed an alliance with Sofia Cortez from March of that year, calling themselves the "Anti-Diva Army". On the March 19 episode of FCW, Paige made her in ring debut teaming with Cortez in a tag team match to face Audrey Marie and Kaitlyn, witch they lost.Paige and Cortez would then form a brief alliance with Rick Victor in a win against Marie and Aiden English. On May 6th episode of FCW Paige pinned the FCW Divas champion Raquel Diaz, in a triple threat match witch also involved Audrey Marie. This would earn Paige a shot at the championship but Paige lost the match via DQ. Tension was shown between the Anti-Diva Army as Paige moved on to a feud with Audrey Marie. Paige would loose to Marie in a TV taping in June after Cortez interfered in the match signalling the end of the their alliance. On the final episode of FCW the feud between Cortez and Paige and Marie ended in a vicious no DQ match.

WWE would go on to re-brand it's developmental centre from FCW to NXT and Paige would make her TV debut for the newly formed NXT in September of 2012 where she lost to Sofia Cortez, after gaining a large surge in crowd support. Paige then went on a singles winning streak picking up wins over the likes of Audrey Marie, Sasha Banks, Emma, Aksana and multiple wins over former divas champion Alicia Fox.
On the 30th of January 2013, Paige was attacked by Summer Rae over her jealousy of Paige's success and popularity. Paige then suffered a shoulder injury after a brawl with Rae, Summer would then take advantage of this and would score a win over Paige in a singles match ending her winning streak. The two would feud for a while and Paige would soon pick up a win in a singles match against Summer despite the pre attack. On the 5th of June Paige defeated Tamina Snuka in a singles match in the first round of a tournament  to determine the first ever NXT women's champion and then she defeated Alicia Fox in the second round on the third of July episode of NXT. On the June 20th taping of NXT (witch aired on the 24th of July) Paige and Emma would battle it out on one one in one of the best women's matches in recent years in the WWE for the NXT women's championship witch Paige would win, and after the match was congratulated by other NXT divas and Divas who competed in the tournament and Triple H.
Paige made several successful title defences including against Summer Rae. She would then make an alliance with Emma to feud with Sasha Banks and Summer Rae. She also has a very successful title defence against former Divas champion Natalya in a great match with you should be able to find easily on YouTube. Paige and Emma would go at it again this year at NXT Arrival for the NXT women's championship in another amazing amazing match up, witch saw Paige retain.
Paige would then make her WWE Main roster debut the night after Wrestlemania, interrupting a promo by AJ Lee, witch would result in a title match on the night witch saw Paige pick up the win to become the not only the youngest ever Divas champion but the first and only diva to hold the divas championship and NXT women's championship at the same time. She was later forced to be striped of the NXT women's championship after a 308 day title reign.
Since coming up to the main roster she has had successful title defences against Alicia Fox, Tamina Snuka and Naomi. She lost the title the first time back to AJ Lee upon her return on RAW. Ever since the two have been feuding and Paige has already become a two time divas champion after re-capturing the title at Summer Slam however she lost it again last month at Night of champions.

Paige after defeating AJ Lee
Personally I think the WWE need to get the shit together with Paige to be honest. I'm the biggest fan of her's and think they need to sort out her character and give us the Paige we know and love, because so far they really have been doing some pretty awful stuff with her. I'd love to see her hold the title again soon and have a good strong title reign because both have been pretty terrible. I'd also love to see her in a much better feud. The feud with AJ was so anticipated and so many people waited a long time for it that when we did finally get it it's just been very disappointing. But I'm gonna try and stay positive and hope for the best.
So that Paige, let me know what you think of the diva of tomorrow by leaving a comment bellow or sending me a tweet at @TezangiVictoria.
