RAW Review and Reactions

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wresting World, I hope you are all well and good. So last night was the RAW after SummerSlam and after what was a disappointing pay per view on Sunday, the WWE had a lot of making up to do to put smiles back on the faces of the WWE Universe. Personally, I think it's safe to say that they did just last night, providing one of the best Monday night RAW episodes of the year. There was a clear theme to last night's show and it felt as though I was watching the RAW after Wrestlemania. From the live crowd, to the booking decisions, to the shock debuts and returns, last night felt like reliving the night after Wrestlemania. The show was everything we all ask for when it comes to Monday night RAW and for once I look forward to writing this weeks Review and Reactions post. Today, I'm going to be taking you back through all of last night's action taking a look at and telling you all what I thought of every single match, promo and segment that took place during last night's show. Before we get started I have a couple of updates and reminders for you and I'm going to start with NXT month. Most of you will probably know by now, but NXT season was suppose to end last week on my blog but I didn't realise how many  posts I had pre written and so for the rest of the week I will be uploading the final post in the series. In October there will be a new season and so if there is anything you would like to see in particular just let me know before the middle of September. Next week I will also be uploading my top twenty matches of the month and my top fifteen superstars of the month. I will link bellow any recent blog post including my NXT Takeover and SummerSlam Review and Reactions posts. Finally, you can let me know what you thought of last night's show by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.

Before the night really got started we saw a little segment between Triple H and the WWE World Heavyweight and new United States Champion, Seth Rollins appear on the titron. The pair looked to be at the WWE headquarters as Hunter gave Rollins a tour of the statues of some of the greats that have become legends in the WWE, including Bruno Sammartino and Andre the Giant. After he's huge victory over John Cena at SummerSlam, Rollin was scheduled to have he's very own Statue created and the big reveal would take place later on during the show. I thought it was an interesting way to start the show. It gave the night a clear theme and left us all wondering what the big twit would be at some point during the show.

After the majorly controversial ending to the SummerSlam main event between Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker last night' show kick started with the reactions of Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar himself and let's just say they both had a lot to say and do to showcase there anger towards the closing moments of the biggest SummerSlam in history. Now, Heyman wasted no time letting everyone know that he was pissed off about what we had all seen the night before. He recounted the controversial ending to the show and replayed a clip of the Undertaker clearly tapping out, he followed that up with explaining that he didn't blame the referee or the time keeper for their roles in the whole situation. I have to be honest, I totally was backing Heyman last night. I was hanging on he's every word agreeing with everything he was saying. I tweeted about it last night and I will say it again here, n my eyes Brock Lesnar was the winner of that match, regardless of how much I love the Undertaker I have to agree with Heyman. The advocate tot he former WWE World Heavyweight Champion went on to claim that the Undertaker's win was a fluke and that he's client wanted to take on the dead man one last time right then and there in Brooklyn New York. However, instead of a WWE Legend, Brock Lesnar got Bo Dallas instead. As soon as he's music hit I felt my stomach just tighten up a little. It was as if he was walking into death itself and we all knew what was coming. The former NXT Champion took time out to make digs at Lesnar's loss against the dead man appearing to be the typical condescending idiot. It was almost like he was poking the bear, asking to be hurt. Of course Bo Dallas was no match for Brock Lesnar and he didn't stand a chance. Lesnar threw Dallas over the top rope and fed him a bunch of suplex's taking him straight to suplex city and then with the instructions of Heyman the beast went back in the ring one more time to hit a perfect F5 on poor Bo Dallas. All round I loved this opening. It was surprising seeing a rather calm Paul Heyman. He took apart all of the action from the SummerSlam main event really divided the WWE universe even more. I liked that he mentioned the fact that Taker passed out backstage. It injected a taste of reality into the storyline and made it even more personal. The one big thing we can all take away from this part of the night is that there will one hundred percent be a part three in this storyline and we will see these two take each other on one more time it's just a matter of when.

The first match of the night was the first of many tag matches as the new champions, the New Day took on the Lucha Dragons. On Sunday at the SummerSlam pay per view we saw Kofi Kingston and Big E knock off four tag teams including the Lucha Dragons, Los Matadores, and the Prime Time Players to become two time tag team champions. I of course could not have been happier with the decision. The Prime Time Players made great champions but they didn't have the charisma and character like the New Day do and so it made them very limited as champions. Without a doubt right now, the New Day are the best things in the tag team division. Their the most fun to watch, the most entertaining, and they deliver in the ring amazingly well every single time they compete. Last night they were extremely over with the live crowd. They split the crowd but all round had everyone on their feet chanting something. The Prime Time Players were sat at commentary, forced to watch the team who took their championships away from them less than twenty four hours away.  The entrance of the New Day was honestly one of my favourite parts of the month and of the year. With Xavier Woods playing the trombone and Big E and Kofi Kingston singing a little celebratory song, witch was just so freaking awesome. The match itself was very short lived but even though the match wasn't long at all  there were some great spots and the Lucha Dragons, especially Kalisto, looked really good throughout but the New Day defeated the former NXT Tag team Champions without breaking a sweat. Now the match wasn't what was the biggest talk of the night. During their celebration the New Day and the WWE Universe got the shock of their lives when the Dudley Boyz stormed out and took out all three members of the New Day and also confronted the Prime time players. This was, without a doubt the moment of the night and one of the highlights of the year. We had seen Bubba make an appearance at the Royal Rumble but without Devon and we were all left wondering whether or not we would see them both back in the WWE and after ten years out of the company both men were back and the announcers made it sound as though it wasn't just a one off thing and that these guys really are back and here to stay. Now, I didn't see this coming at all. There was no rumours or spoilers about them showing up and that is was made this moment so special. With the internet it's almost impossible to not know when a Superstar is making a return so it was great getting that huge surprise last night. The tag division now has a whole new level of electricity and I'm very very excited to see what is next.

Up next was a SummerSlam rematch as Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns took on Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper one more time. I was so glad this match took place last night. You guys know that I was a little disappointed with the match we saw between these four at SummerSlam. It didn't live up to the expectations and so I was glad they were getting another shot to give us an amazing match. However, once again I was left pretty disappointed as we got another short match but this time we had a couple of twists that I loved. The start of the match saw Ambrose and Reigns take control. The cleared the ring of all things Wyatt family and kick started a very fast paced match. The momentum however didn't last very long and Harper and Wyatt returned the favour taking it to Ambrose and
Reigns. When Roman was closing in on the victory the lights went out and we got surprise number two of the night. A mysterious figure wearing a black sheep mask was in the ring and was soon attacking both Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns. Once again, I didn't see this coming but I really liked it. It's such a great twit and development to the storyline. I mentioned before that I would love to see a revolution storyline like what TNA have done with James Storm but with Bray Wyatt and that's the feel I got from this. The mysterious figure who has previously worked as a rosebud for Adam Rose was very very impressive. He's a big guy with a lot of mystery behind him and it makes thing so much more interesting. Braun Stowman is an odd choice of superstar to add to the Wyatt family. He has very little experience and we've never even seen him debut for NXT TV even though he has worked live shows so this should be interesting. I love that we are having the Wyatt family grow, it makes them come across even more dangerous and fun to watch and I cannot wait to see where the WWE are going with this storyline.

There was then an addition of Miz TV and this time we had special guest Paige, Charlotte, and Becky Lynch, team PCB upon their SummerSlam victory over team Bella and team BAD. It was great seeing some divas on Miz TV but it was even better actually seeing the divas get some mic time. I'm always sitting here complaining about the fact that the women of the WWE hardly get any time on the mic but they got at least seven minuets or so on the mic alone last night witch was a great development. The whole point of this segment however was to try and add more story to the divas revolution because let's be honest it has lacked depth from the start and has been missing that something. The Miz last night of course tried to sir the pot and question whether there was tension among team PCB but the ladies stuck to their "team girl power" theme and claimed that they wouldn't be were they are without one another. The celebration was soon cut short with an appearance from Team Bella. The each took tern grilling team PCB and letting them know that as long as Nikki Bella was the divas champion they were the most dominate team and Nikki also reminded the WWE universe that in jut over three weeks time she will be the longest reigning divas champion witch didn't sit well with the live crowd or myself. I didn't really like the segment that much. It was a little messy and confusing. Paige made some great points but the team came across almost like a heels and it had no clear direction. All of team PCB have a lot of work to do when it comes to mic ability but it could have been worse.

The divas segment led into a six divas tag team match witch I suppose made sense but I wasn't really rooting or the idea. Myself and pretty much the entire Brooklyn Crowd and everyone at home wanted to see one diva, Sasha Banks and the crowd were very vocal about that. Without a doubt Banks is the most over and must see WWE diva today and it's a real shame we never got to see the Boss in action last night. The match itself wasn't the worse in the world but the crowd had next to no interest in it what so ever. They were beyond disrespectful and were more focused on getting themselves over than watching the action. To be fair though you could't really blame them. The WWE are giving the divas no true storyline in this whole divas revolution. It's hard to know who we should be rooting for and what to expect. The matches are very repetitive and predicable. What they should be doing is using the entire divas roster including divas like Natalya and maybe things would be even more interesting but there's no story here and so it's hard to get into. I was paying attention to the match and I will give the girls credit, they put on a decent match with Nikki Bella and Paige the stand outs of the whole match. As of recent we have seen Nikki really compete like a champion and have performances like a champion. Like her or not, she's improving and is looking great in the ring recently not even I can deny that. I do think that the WWE need to start adding some more to this divisions. The matches need to start meaning something. But this was a decent match and maybe if people paid more attention they would know that.

Other parts of last night's show included Stardust randomly attacking King Barrett and brawling with Neville. I'll be honest, I hated this. I'm not even going to beat around the bush with it. I loved the storyline we had in the build up to SummerSlam but there is no need for these guys to continue to feud after Sunday. It's just going to become boring and overdone. It's time that Neville moved onto something new and we start to see a story involving Stardust slowing coming back to becoming Cody Rhodes. Attacking Barrett was a little random. It showed him to be the villain of all villains but it should have been done at SummerSlam backstage or something. I'm expecting a one on one match between the two of them on either Smackdown or RAW next week. We also had Jon Stewart explain himself after he's actions at SummerSlam. Once again, I had no interest in this. He told the fans that the reason he attacked John Cena with a chair at SummerSlam because he was a life long fan of Ric Flair and didn't want Cena to tie with Flairs record. I liked the excuse and I think in a couple of months time we are going to see that play a pretty important part in the storyline of Cena finally tying Flairs record. Talking of Flair, shock number three of the night saw the nature come down to the ring himself and confront the comedian and TV host. The two time hall of famer said the he respected John Cena and with moments Cena joined the party clearly showing he was pissed off with Stewart. To cut a long story short, we got a typical Cena promo and the segment closed with John hitting the Attitude Adjustment on Stewart. Only in wrestling is it okay for the good guy to attack a fifty two year old man that has no wrestling experience.

The biggest and best match of the night was up next, a huge eight man tag team match as Dolph Ziggler, Cesaro, Ryback, and Randy Orton took on the team of Big Show, Kevin Owens, Rusev, and Mr Money in the bank, Sheamus. This was a huge match and one that I was really looking forward too. We had several feuds all combined into one match witch seems to be a little theme at the moment in the WWE, but I didn't mind at all just because we had a bunch of my favourite superstars and favourite feuds all in one match. One thing that did surprise me in this match was the chemistry between all  of these superstars especially Ryback and Kevin Owens who we have never seen compete against one another before. Ryback had the performance he needed as the Intercontinental Champion and Kevin Owens along with Rusev and Sheamus brought the most amount of character to the match. I think this match made me realise that at some point we could get a pretty great feud between Ryback and Owens for the title. The foundation for that was made last night. We also saw Rusev and Owens really work well as a team. They seemed to have this great chemistry and click between them witch was great seeing. You just know these guys could have some amazing one on one and tag team matches and the more I see them work together better and the more I love it. Ziggler was the man of he's team last night. He competed the most and kept everyone rooting for him. He spent a lot of time in the corner of the heels taking a beating from every single one of them. We also saw Summer Rae and Lana brawl outside of the ring again witch of course distracted Rusev and gave my story to it. There was even more work between Sheamus and Orton and I'm not going to lie, I was pretty pissed of that they had Sheamus get pinned but it's fine, he had a good night last night and at SummerSlam so I won't moan about it too much. After the match Rusev and Owens attacked Big Show with the baby face team following in their footsteps. I kinda felt bad for The Big Show and I'm hopeing this is the start of maybe him eventually turning baby face again.

Closing this weeks RAW was the reveal of Seth Rollins new statue. Triple H made the promise and kept to it and during the show we all saw the statue but it was kept a secret from Rollins until the big reveal. Early on in the night John Cena made it clear he was coming after Rollins during the big reveal but the Authority wanted to make sure that things rans smoothly so the Authority has security escort him out of the arena. Before the statue reveal there was a very off key Happy Birthday sing song for Vince McMahon as the chairmen turnt seventy yesterday. It would have been nice to actually see McMahon but I wasn't expecting too. After that Stephanie and Hunter took us through the early great accomplishments of Seth Rollins looking back at the past year. The WWE World Heavyweight Champion and United States Champion came down to the ring were he compared himself to some of the greats and trash talked Cena before he's statue was revealed. Now, the final surprise of the night was probably the best surprise of the night. As the curtain was pulled there was no statue in sight and instead Sting of all people stood there surprising the entire WWE Universe. At this point of the show I had turnt my laptop off and just enjoyed the show and when this happened I
was honestly the happiest person in the entire world and me and my brother marked out like crazy! I had heard rumours of Sting making an appearance but I didn't want to get my hopes up. The fact the segment  last so long and was dragged out made me even more anxious and on the edge of my seat waiting for something big and so when Sting came I could not contain my excitement and I was like a kid at Christmas all over again. I love that this ending left so many questions; why is Sting back? Is he chasing after the championship? and what is next for Cena and where does he fit into the story? Next week is going to be very interesting and I cannot wait for the story development.

I really really really enjoyed last night's show. It had that night after Wrestlemania feel to it and I loved that. There were so  many surprise and story development. The matches were weak but the stories were what was most important last night. I would rate the show a nine out of ten but let me know what you thought of the show by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.
