Get to know: Luke Harper

Hey guy's and welcome back to my blog. Today I'm giving you another Get To Know. I said it in my last post that the get to knows seem to be the ones you enjoy reading the most and I do really like doing these so there are gonna be more up from now. I will leave the link to my last one at the end of this so you can check that out if you aint done so already. You can also let me know who you would like to get to know next my dropping me a tweet at @TezangiVictoria.

So as you can tell from the title today's focus is on Luke Harper. Over the past the months I've been speaking about Harper a lot! And I'm sure most of you are sick and tired of hearing how much I love and support him in he's career and can't wait to see him go solo; but I'm 100% confident that by the end of this post you will fully understand why I have been not sop talking about this guy! I will leave some links to some of my favourite Harper matches at the end of this post. So enough with the intro and  let's get into the little facts that most of you will probably know already. Harper Aka Jon Huber was born on December 16, 1979 making him 34 years old, yep you read right Luke Harper is only 34 years old... let that sink for a while; in Rochester New York. He's 6 ft 5 (witch I was pretty shocked about I thought he was a lot taller for some reason) and weighs 275 lbs. Harper is also known for performing in the independent Circuit under the ring name Brodie Lee. In 2003 after being trained Kirby Marcos and Rik Matrix, Huber made he's in ring debut at Roc City Wresting in a mask as Huerboy #2. He would eventually go on to unmask still using the name Huber #2.It was in during 2003 that Huber started working under the name Brodie Lee. He came up with the name by a  film called Mallarts, he combined the names of the actor James Lee and his character Brodie Bruce. His influences come from Rick Rude, Jake Roberts and Big show. Throughout he's time in RPW (witch would later be re-named NWA), Lee would go on to win multiple championships including the Heavy Weight Champions ship on three occasions, the tag team championship once and the Television championship once which he would also unify with the Kayfabe Dojo championship. On March 24 2007 Huber made his debut for Philadelphia- based Chikara at Time Will Prove Everything using "Th right stuff" Brodie lee gimmick witch he described (the gimmick) as him just having fun. He lost that debut match against Equinox. Originally Lee was not scheduled wrestle at the event but was instead visiting friends back stage, however when Reckless- Youth no showed the event Lee was offered the chance to get in the ring. Two months later he would return to the company defeating Equinox in a re-match and started a streak of not being pinned or submitted that would last the rest of the year. Lee aliened himself with the Olsen Twins (Colin and Jimmy) in August and adopted the new more serious gimmick of a trucker and the nickname "Big Rig". The three of them were scheduled to enter the 2008 King of Trios tournament as Team Dr.Keith but after Colin signed a contract with WWE they were a man down. Retail Dragon was announced the replacement when he was drawn at random but after he dropped the deciding fall in their opening round Lee turned on him while ending he's alliance with Jimmy Oslen in the process. In April 2008 Lee's bullying of smaller wrestlers to a challenge being issued to him by Claudio Castangoli. Their first match on the 20th of April ended in DQ when Claudio accidentally kicked the referee. This led to a no DQ match on July 13 witch Lee won after an interference from Shayne Hawke and Mitch Ryder who had a grudge against Castangoli. Their feud ended on September 7 2008, in Chikara's first ever steel cage match with lee not picking up the win. In late 2008 Lee aligned himself with Eddie Kingston and Grizzly Redwood to form the stable called The Roughnecks. On February 21st 2009 The Roughnecks defeated UltraMantis Black, CorssBones and Sami Callihan to earn a spot in the 2009 King of Trios tournament. The Roughnecks lost their opening round match in the King of Trios tournament against Team Uppercut on March 27. When Kingston moved on to feuding with Castangoli, Lee and Redwood began wrestling as a tag team and eventually earned their right to challenge fro the Campeonatos De Parejas. On October 17 2009, Lee and Redwood had a shot at the championship, but where defeated by their opponents The Colony on two straight falls.Lee gave Redwood once more chance, but when he dropped another fall on October 19 Lee kicked him in the face ending the Roughnecks. Six months later Redwood made he's return as a surprise opponent for Lee but was easily defeated by him. But Redwood was not done with Lee and he would prepare himself for their next match. On August 29 lee entered the Countdown Showdown battle royal and was dominating the match before being eliminated by Redwood. Lee suffered an upset loss against Dasher Hatfield who was defeated against Redwood the following night. After gaining respect for each  other Lee and Redwood reunited and attacked Hatfield after he's match. On January 23, 2011 The Roughnecks defeated The Throwbacks in a tag team match and their feud would end Match 13. In May 2011, Lee entered the 12 Large: Summit, set to determine the number one contender  for the Chikara Grand Championship but was forced to pull out due to an injury. He returned on October 30. After signing a contract with WWE, Lee made he's farewell appearance Chikara on March 25th, 2012 but lost he's match.
Before I go onto Harper's WWE career there is still more to talk about from he's time before WWE. Back on August 20, 2007 Lee made he's debut for Syracuse, New York based Squared Circle Wrestling (2CW), teaming with Colin Olsen as a replacement for Jimmy Oslen, where they were defeated by the Wyld Stallyns. Lee started out as a heel when he aligned with the rival promotion NWA. He started becoming popular after a July 26, 2008 post match incident that ended with him punching out a fan in a parking lot witch led to him  being suspended. He returned on October 24 to a huge ovation even though he was still a heel, leading NWA to a victory in a eight man tag team main event. Starting April 29, he became a baby face when the rivalry with 2CW and NWA had subsided. Lee then began a friendly rivalry with Slyck Wagner Brown witch saw them both trade wins in singles matches on June 6 and September 19, 2009. Lee defeated Brown in a rubber match on February 19, 2010 and again in a two out of three falls match in April to end the feud. Lee defeated Isys Ephex on July 10 in a number one contenders match to earn a shot at the title, and on August defeated Jason Axe to win the 2CW Heavyweight championship for the first time. He had a
successful title defence in a I quit re match. He lost the title to Brown on November 19 and regained on April 13 in a fatal four way match. Lee also wrestled for ROH making he's debut on October 25, 2008 when he aligned himself with The Age of Fall and helping the stables leader Jimmy Jacobs defeat Austin Aries. In March Delirious turnt on the age of all and on May 30 defeated Lee in he's last ROH match. Lee made he's debut for JAPW on Match 28, 2009 as a member of The Hillbilly Wrecking Crew. On August Lee and Necro became the JAPW tag team champions and lost the title On January 23, 2010. Lee became the JAPW New Jersey State Champion that year and he also won the JAPW Heavyweight championship and was the first to unify the two titles On December 30, 2011, JAPW announced that Lee was stripped of the Heavyweight Championship after he had not made an appearance for nine months. Lee debuted for Evolve on January 16 2010 at the promotions first ever show, in six man competition where he's team failed to pick up the win. He picked up he's first win in the promotion in a fatal four way on May 1st. At the first show on July 23, Lee wrestled Jon Moxley to a no contest. As Moxley was protesting the stoppage, Lee kicked a chair in he's face which led to him getting suspended. He retuned to Evolve on May 20 2011, in a match where he was defeated by Sami Callihan via submission. On May 8 2010 Lee made he's debute for Dragon Gate USA and debuted for Dragon Gate Japanese promotion in Tokyo on December 21, 2010.
On May 18 2012 Huber made he's WWE FCW debut at a house show with the new name Luke Harper.  He would then go on to Be apart of the Wyatt family over on NXT, where him and Erick Rowan would later go on to become the NXT tag team champion. Since coming up to the main roster we aint seen much of Harper solo but these past thew months we have seen a lot more of him and what he can do. Almost every time he's in the ring he shocks the crown with new moves we aint seen him do before, well in the WWE anyway, We're mainly shocked because the moves he is doing we hardly see someone of he's size actually do! Over these past thew months I have been non top talking about Harper and when anyone has asked me who I cant wait to see more of I've told them Harper. I strongly believe he is one to watch over the next year and once we see more of him as a solo wrestler I think a lot of people will be surprised. The thing I love about Harper is he ticks all the boxes. He's tall, got a good weight, strong, athletic, pretty good on the mic and very diverse! He also has a lot of character. He's gimmick is very strong and persuasive, connecting with the fans and maintaining the character throughout matches and managing to be intresting and entertaining. He has be involved in some of the best tag team matches I have seen in a very long time and I have no idea why him and Rowan aint tag team champions yet! There is still so much more left to see of him in the ring and as a character and I cant wait to he goes solo and he just blow's all our minds. Personally I can't wait for feuds with the likes of Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins because I've seen the work him and Ambrose have done together before WWE and it truly was amazing and I advise you all to go and check their stuff out! I'm gonna be doing more on Harper and the rest of the Wyatts in the up coming months so keep and eye out for that.
