Why AJ Lee VS Stephanie McMahon Should Take place at Wrestlemania 31

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well. We are now officially in Wrestlemania season witch means my blog is about to be taken over by all things Wrestlemania. Leading right up to the biggest pay per view of the year itself I'm going to be uploading posts all about the history of Wrestlemania, top fives and tens, predictions and many more. I will also be live tweeting throughout the show and kick off show but there will be more on what I will be doing around that time so expect some updates at the end of February and start of March. Today's blog post is all about one of the most anticipated diva feuds of all time; AJ Lee VS Stephanie McMahon. For over three years now the WWE universe have been waiting for a feud between the companies most popular female workers. I have previously written about the dream feud before on my blog and I will leave a link to that posts bellow so you can go check that out if you haven't already done so. Today I will be going into more detail about why I think a match between the two needs to happen this year at Wrestlemania and why I think it will be a success with fans across the globe. Over recent years the WWE have struggled to provide fans with a strong, gripping and all round entertaining divas storyline/feud. If we look back the most successful have been AJ Lee VS Kaitlyn, AJ Lee VS Paige, Charlotte VS Sasha Banks, Brie Bella VS Stephanie McMahon, AJ Lee VS the cast of Total Divas and most recently Nikki Bella VS Brie Bella. If you take a look there is a pattern and one name pops up on several occasions; AJ Lee. Since arriving on the main roster Lee has dominated the divas divsion and has gone from strength to strength becoming one of the most popular WWE divas of all time. She has the most successful diva merchandise sales, is a two time slammy award winner for diva of the year, four time divas champion and the longest reigning divas champion in history. She has been at the forefront of all the major diva storyline's of the past three years and has been involved in storyline's with some of the WWE's top stars including Dolph Ziggler, Daniel Bryan, Kane and John Cena. Since winning the divas championship back in two thousand and thirteen AJ has been the centre of attention when it comes to the championship witch has caused a little controversy with the other divas in the locker room and the WWE universe. Despite having a huge following there are many people who believe that AJ I holding back other talents such as Natalya and Naomi and she may be a little overrated.

For well over a decade, Stephanie McMahon has been the leading lady in the WWE. Year by year
she has improved in every area of her work and has become the one women every diva wants to go one on one with inside a WWE ring. The introduction of the Authority has seen Stephanie rise to the top, delivering top promos and segments and taking control of some of the best storyline's in recent. She was right in the centre piece of the Daniel Bryan/Authority storyline where she took control once again and really did shine. Her mic work has been amazing and she really has become extremely comfortable in cutting promos and being involved in big segments. Last year Stephanie returned to the ring when she took on a feud with Brie Bella going one on one with the former divas champion at the second biggest pay per view of the year, Summer Slam. I have to say, Stephanie looked amazing in the ring and really did give Brie a run for her money during the match. She proved that she can sell a feud and a match, that she can compete to a high standard in the ring and provide amazing mic work, now it's about placing her in something that's going to highlight her career even more.

For quite a thew years now the WWE universe have been begging for a feud between Stephanie McMahon and AJ Lee. As two of the most popular divas around right now, the fans know these girls could pull off an all time great feud. In the past the WWE have hinted a feud between the two but are yet to put anything into action. They have collided in backstage and in ring segments but no fists have been thrown or any back widows should I say. They have also uploaded a "dream match" YouTube video that hinted a potential feud between the women. But with AJ Lee being the divas champion and therefore put in feuds with the likes of Kaitlyn, Paige, Nikki Bella and the cast of Total divas and Stephanie being involved in the Daniel Bryan VS The Authority storyline there simply has been no right time for the two to collide. But with Wrestlemania thirty one around the corner is now the perfect time for AJ Lee VS Stephanie McMahon to take place?

If I'm honest I think time is running out for a feud between these two. Stephanie isn't as young as AJ and the older she gets the less likely it becomes for her to step in the ring and compete. With Lee, there has been rumour after rumour of her leaving the WWE over the past year and with so many diva championship moments creatively things are dulling down. If the WWE are going to give us Stephanie McMahon VS AJ Lee, they need to give it to us this year and it needs to be at the biggest show of them all, Wrestlemania. At the moment AJ is out of action but what holds for her when she returns? I will be the first to say I do not want her to hold the divas championship again for a while now, mainly because I think its time for the other divas on the roster to take the spotlight. That being said, the WWE will still have Lee in something major, because well, she's AJ freaking Lee. This seems like the perfect time to kick start the most anticipated divas match of possibly all time.

The timing is just right. Stephanie needs to be further reinforced as a major heel and Lee need something new and exciting. With the right amount of attention put into this storyline the WWE could or in fact would have one of the best diva feuds of al time without a doubt. The two women have everything you could ask for. The passion is there, the heat is there from built up moments over the past couple of years and they both have the fan following. Lee being the top diva in the divsion means she has a huge following from the WWE universe and the exact same can be said about Stephanie being the top heel. Stephanie has very quickly become a top heel in the company at times getting more heat than the superstars, she's clearly so comfortable in her role and knows how to play the mean boss to perfection. While I do think AJ makes a better heel she has proven to make a very intresting however still entertaining baby face and knows how to keep the fans wanting more. Despite poor booking during her recent baby face run, Lee is the only solid baby face in the divsion and her anti authority gimmick allows her to pull of an amazing feud with Stephanie despite how whether or not she is portrayed as a heel or baby face.On several different occasions the two women have shown serious chemistry on the mic ad have left you beginning for fists to be thrown and a match between the two witch lets be honest hasn't happened between two divas in a long while.

Bella VS Brie Bella for the divas championship considering there would be nothing for Nikki when her current work with Paige and Natalya is over. And with the way Brie quickly turnt heel there has been a clear idea that all is not what it seems and Brie will turn on Nikki any time soon. But the one thing the WWE must have learnt over the past year is that the fans are not interested in a Bella rivalry and re-living the feud would not go down well with fans. Wrestlemania is about showcasing the best of the best and let's be honest AJ Lee and Stephanie McMahon are the best of the best.   The WWE would be beyond stupid to let such an opportunity pass. Stephanie might not be the best in the ring but these girls could sell a Wrestlemania match just by talking. In recent interviews AJ has expressed that Stephanie is her dream opponent. The best move to make would be to have the two girls go one on one at the Wrestlemania thirty one stage rather than in the summer. Whether or not they have Lee somehow grab the title before Mani or not, these girls could easily give us one of the best diva rivalries in years and not only would taking on the biggest women in the company put Lee right at the top of the women's divsion but give her a career highlight no one could take away from her, changing the feel of the whole divas locker room for good.
