Former Divas champ Maryse
Hello everyone Happy New year and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World. Last week, I announced on Twitter that we would be kicking two thousand and fifteen off with some extra attention being paid to the women of the sport we all love, as January becomes Women's month on Talk Wrestling World. If you are a regular reader of my blog then you will remember me doing NXT month last year in September, were we dedicated the whole month to NXT, with top ten lists, reviews, get to know's and many many more. To start the new year off on a high I'm paying extra attention to the female talent of professional wrestling, bombarding you with posts all about the women of the past, present and future. Today, we kick start the series with my top ten most influential female wrestlers of the past ten years. Their will be a mixture of TNA and WWE talents. If you would like me to do a Indies version and a part two then do let me know before the end of the month.Remember, the list is one hundred percent my personal opinions and nothing in this post has not been influenced by any of my readers or followers. However, I would love to know what YOU think. So leave a comment bellow telling me who you think is the most influential female wrestler of the past ten years.

10) Maryse
Kicking off my top ten most influential female wrestlers of the past ten years is former divas champion Maryse. I was always a huge fan of Maryse. From the moment she arrived on the WWE scene I was completely griped. She managed to tick every single box; she was sexy, tall, had a great body, amazing character, bags of confidence, charisma and most importantly wrestling ability. Many member's of the WWE universe developed a strong connection with the French Canadian hottie, weather you loved her or hated her, you were talking about her. What I loved the most about Maryse was how she changed things up in the divas division at that time. She played the perfect heel diva, fitting the role to perfection. She knew how to walk to the ring like a heel, how to wrestle like a heel, talk like heel and most importantly play the villain like a heel. Everyone had an opinion on Maryse and she has easily gone down in history to be one of the best heel divas to come out of the WWE. To this day, female talent in the company look to her work to inspire them and the same applies to girls around the world who want to work in the business.

9) Gail Kim
Up next is one of my personal all time favourite female pro wrestlers. She has worked for both WWE and TNA over her years in the business and has developed a huge following also being named the best female wrestler of the year several times. The women I'm talking about is of course Gail Kim. I honestly don't think  I have ever come across a pro wrestling fan who is not a fan of Gail Kim. She manages to tick every single box and has developed into one of the most memorable female pro wrestlers in year's, being right up their with women like Lita and Trish Stratus. She has been in some of the best female wrestling matches in history! I think we can all agree her best work has come out of TNA, I was never a huge fan of her work in WWE but that wasn't her fault, she was just booked pretty bad in the later moments of he career but she still had some great years. Gail has proven time and time again that you don't have to be the biggest or the tallest women in the business to kick ass and own it. Her work on TNA British Boot-camp was another prime example of just how established she is and I personally will go one to forever be a Gail Kim Fan.

8) Angelina Love
Rolling in at number eight is another personal fave of mine, Angelina Love. I know Angelina is very hit and miss. Some people love her some people don't really like her as much to say the least. But I remember always watching her work and thinking this women is pretty freaking awesome. She has a way with the crowd that is almost impossible to ignore and although she's pretty small she can do some great stuff in the ring proving everyone wrong that say's she's no more than a pretty face. Over the year's she has been involved in some strong storyline's in TNA and has participated in great matches in independent promotions. The faction "The beautiful people" has also gone down in history to be one of the strongest and best female factions in the history of this business. To this day Angelina is still impressing fans and keeping everyone interested in the division.

 7) Beth Phonix
Coming in at number seven is Beth Pheonix. I think the whole world know's just how much I have
been a fan of Beth since the get go. I honestly believe she has left one of the biggest marks in the WWE and has set the bar extremely high. She's been my personal inspiration for year's now and to this day I still find myself looking back at her old matches and dreaming of one day being just like her! I have mentioned before that I don't think she has been used to her full potential when she was in the WWE but she honestly had some amazing moment's, take the time she hit the glam slam from the top rope! Her strength was just mind blowing and she was just so beautiful. The stuff she did in the ring left you speechless and what I loved the most about her was her genuine love for professional wrestling. She wasn't just another model that got spotted and became a wrestler over night. She worked for her spot in the company and when she won that divas championship she honestly looked like the happiest women a live and that's something I have always looked up to. She has changed the meaning of a WWE diva and she will never be forgotten for what she accomplished.

6) Paige
Now, I already know that number six is going to be pretty controversial considering that this women has not been in the company for long but up next in my top ten most influential Female wrestlers of the past ten years is Paige. I've been following Paige and her career for a while now and it's kind of hard not to considering her family are practically royalty in the British Pro wrestling scene. The Brit has been wrestling since she was only thirteen making her one of the most experienced WWE divas on the roster right now despite being the youngest. Over the years you can really see how she developed and has already managed to create her own legacy. While down in NXT, Paige put on some of the best divas matches that the WWE has produced in many many years and before even completing her first full year on the main roster she has already become a two time divas champion and has been in one of the most requested and demanded divas feuds in the past ten years. She has featured on almost every single pay per view since Extreme Rules either defending or competing for the divas championship. She has developed a strong following and even before making to the main roster managed to get great merchandise sales. And this has all been done while only being 22! She's honestly a huge inspiration to so many girls who wan't to come into the business proving you don't have to wait until you're almost 30 to be a success and to chase your dream no matter how old you are.

5) Natalya
At number five is Natalya. You all knew Nattie would be featured in this list so don't act surprised! It's no secret that WWE diva Natalya is one of the most talented, influential, impressive diva that the company have however also one of the most underused. I have moaned time and time again about how badly the WWE have treated Natalya and I'm always keeping my fingers crossed something better is waiting just around the corner. Just like with Beth, what I love the most about Natalya is the fact that she is one of the most honest women in the company and her genuine love for the business is something you cannot not love about her. This is a women who hasn't rested on the success of her family name and has developed her own legacy. I have to admit I think we could of seen a lot more of her and what she can do if she was working for TNA but her work down in NXT proved everything as she made everyone realise that women can do just what men can do in the ring and she has gone on to be a huge influence in the company as almost every up and coming diva looks up to her and her work. She put's over new talent well and over the year's has played major roles in her division.

4) Trish Stratus
Trish Stratus graces her way on to my top 10 list of the most influential female pro wrestlers of the past ten years. I think we can all agree that Trish Stratus changed the WWE divas division almost completely and has set the bar extremely high Every women in the business looks up to Trish for inspiration and to this day fans still talk about her legendary feud with Lita. She is still one of the most talked about divas of all time and one of the most memorable. I really admire how she came into the company as not a strong wrestler and came out of it one of it one of the best of all time. She influenced an entire generation and earned the right to be a WWE Hall Of Famer.

3) Chyna
Making her way into the number three spot of my top ten most influential female wrestlers of the past ten years is Chyna. There is no question about it, there has never been a women to step foot in the WWE/WWF like Chyna. She completely changed the idea of a diva and what the role  of a women was in the business. Her strength, image and motto was unlike any other women in the company and it's the exact same to this day. No other female as walked into the company matching her in ring ability and appearance. She set the bar impossibly high and inspired both men and women including myself. She challenged stereotypes and did stuff in the ring that even the superstars struggled to do.

2) AJ Lee
Coming at number two and just missing out on the number one spot is AJ Lee. It's more than fair to say I have been an AJ Lee fan from the get go so this may make me a little bias but what the heck. We all know how bad the WWE divas division has become over recent years. Fan's have been unable to create a connection with a WWE diva like they have done in the past for year's now. However that all changed when AJ lee arrived on the scene. I've written about AJ a lot over the past year and so to save repeating myself again I won't go into too much detail. What I have always loved about AJ is
how Unique she is. She has changed the idea of what a WWE diva is and her unique, strong connection with the WWE universe is something new other diva has and something that cannot go un-mentioned. Throughout her time in the WWE she has gone on to become the longest reining Divas champion, a three time divas champion and has also participated in some of the biggest diva feuds in recent years and also be apart of major main event storyline's with top superstars such as Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, John Cena and Dolph Ziggler.

1) Lita
In my opinion Lita has by far been the most influential female pro wrestler from the past ten years. I grew up as the biggest Lita fan, watching her on a daily basis just wanting to be her. She inspired a generation of young girls wanting to be pro wrestlers. To this day we hear stories of former divas champions who have gone on to say that she inspired them to become pro wrestlers and I think it's amazing that to this day, young girls who weren't even alive when Lita first started wrestling look up to her and use her as inspiration. She proved that a diva doesn't have to be a girly girl with blonde hair and a skimpy pink attire and brought a new kind of diva into the mix.
