Smackdown Review and Reactions

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well. So last night the WWE presented a Live edition of Smackdown after there was no live arena show this past Monday on RAW due to the poor weather. To be fair last nights show was actually really good and even though there wasn't many matches due to a longer a main event, I enjoyed the two hours. I want to quickly remind you that Wrestlemania Season will be starting on the first of February witch will be on Sunday so keep an eye out for the link to the first post in the season. Please do let me know what you would like to see for the Wrestlemania series, it will be running through right up to the pay per view with the last week of course, being the predictions. But as you know today is Friday and of course my Smackdown review and reactions and there's a lot to get through. You can let me know what you thought of last nights show by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria. Finally, I will leave the links bellow to any recent posts including this weeks NXT Review and reactions witch went up yesterday.

Triple H addresses the WWE universe
After an extremely controversial Royal Rumble this past Sunday, the WWE universe were on fire last night and the live crowd in Hartford sure did make their voiced heard. This past week has been beyond chaotic, with Roman Reigns becoming the main event star at this years Wrestlemania, The WWE network hitting one million subscribers, a blizzard causing RAW to not air live from the arena, keeping superstars and divas snowed in and the kick start to the new pay per view, Fastlane the past six days have been hectic in the WWE but there were a lot of questions the WWE universe had and they WWE couldn't hide from what was going on. Last night's show was kicked off by COO, Triple H as he addressed the WWE universe. He spoke about the fact that the fans should not be putting down the Royal Rumble pay per view as a whole and made a good point that the triple threat match was one of the best matches we have seen in years, in fact one of the best triple threat matches the company has ever produced. He of course also mentioned the fact that the WWE Network had hit one million subscribers. I'm glad he did bring some light to things and highlighted the good that had happened over the past week but it's one hundred per cent true. The Royal Rumble match its self was extremely poor but there was some amazing stuff that went down during the pay per view. Hunter also made the announcement that he would be addressing Sting at the Fastlane pay per view in three weeks time. But there was an elephant in the room and the WWE had no choice but to bring up the huge controversy surrounding the closing moments of the Royal Rumble pay per view when Roman Reigns became the number one contender for Brock Lesnars WWE World Heavyweight championship. I'm really glad that they brought this up and to be honest I don't think they had any other choice. There are many angry fans around right now and avoiding the subject would of done no good what so ever. Triple H declared he has a huge announcement to make this Monday on RAW regarding the "problem" of course that being Roman Reigns. Talking of Reigns, he soon made an appearance, receiving a mixed reaction from the crowd. After exchanging words, Triple H put him in a match against the big show. I have to be honest I thought Reigns did well in this promo. The thing with Roman is the least he does the better. He does need to start adding attitude to he's mic work and try and be fancy. He simply has to be Roman Reigns and with him less is more for sure.

Roman Reigns VS The big Show
The first match of the night saw Roman Reigns take on the Big show. Since returning to action the WWE have had Roman feud with the big show to help give him an extra push and put him over, making him look strong. I haven't enjoyed the feud what so ever but I'll give it to both of these superstars, this was a pretty good match and a great way to kick start the show/night, It was nice and back and fourth, the only problem I had was how predictable it was but we all know these next thew months are all about building up Roman Reigns in time for he's Wrestlemania match against Lesnar, and to be fair he had a decent performance but I did feel Show carried a good chunk of the match. I mentioned in a recent post (witch I will leave the link to bellow) that the best way to build Reigns up and "make him look strong" is by giving him a win or two over the big show. I still do think it's likely that the two will go one on one at Fastlane, just because it will be the most likely booking for Reigns before Mania. Roman of course scored the win after hitting the spear on Show. He also got a "lets go roman, roman sucks" chant witch means he is officially in Cena mode.

Seth Rollins sets an open challenge
Seth Rollins then made an appearance with J&J security talking about he's outstanding performance at the Royal Rumble pay per view. Whether you are a fan of Rollins or not you cannot deny the fact he had an amazing amazing performance this past Sunday at the Royal Rumble. He simply stole the show and proved he really is the future of the WWE. After boasting about being seconds away from defeating Brock Lesnar to become the WWE World Heavyweight champion, he issued an open challenge (clearly he forgot what happened the last time he set an open challenge) witch would be answered by the big guy, Ryback. However, after J&J security attacked Ryback alongside Rollins, the numbers got too much for him, but Ziggler and Rowan would soon come to the aid of Ryback, evening up the numbers. I don't really get where the WWE are going with Rowan, Ryback and Ziggler sticking together through everything but hopefully there is something strong for all three superstars heading into to Mania. I doubt anything will come of the three and their problems with Rollins and the WWE are simply waiting for Orton to come back and kick start a feud with him and Seth, considering it makes the most sense.

Tyson Kidd VS Jey Uso
We then had another one on one match as Tyson Kidd took one half of the tag team champions, Jey Usos. The match was short and simple but there was some good spots. These guys are both great talents, and I'm glad Tyson is getting he's moment in the spotlight even though I still do think he's better off doing other things. After an impressive performance over the past month, it seems the WWE are putting Kidd and Cesaro in the tag team title picture. Personally, I don't think they will be becoming the tag team champion any time soon (even though the idea is starting to sound good to me). I think the WWE's main goal is to have the Ascension as the new tag team champs, but because they haven't been on the main roster for long they are just building them up and are using Kidd and Cesaro to fill some time, why they focus on building the Ascension. Kidd was able to score the win last night. We can expect the two teams to go head to head at Fastlane for the championships, we can also expect a mix tag team match between Tyson Kidd, Cesaro and Natalya and The Usos and Naomi, after both divas were at ringside during this match.

John Cena confronts Rusev/ Another Fastlane Match announced
The WWE announced this past Monday that at the first Fastlane pay per view on the twenty second of February, Rusev would go one on one with John Cena, witch to be honest we all saw coming ages ago. Last night the build up to their match began as the first segment between the two took place. To be fair, Rusev did a good job last night. English is not he's first Language and Lana does do a great job talking for him but he is getting much better at speaking for himself, and the thing about Rusev is he can sell a match without saying word. Cena did the usual Cena promo, and tried to get everyone on he's side. But I have to be honest, I'm kind of looking forward to their match. It was also announced last night Nikki would defend her divas championship against Paige at Fastlane. I still think the match should of been a triple threat.

The Ascension VS Gold and Stardust
Tag team action next, and it was time for the Ascension to take on a current tag team in Gold and Stardust. I was a little confused, mainly because they are both heel teams but the match was decent. Konnor and Viktor dominated a good chunk of it but Gold and Stardust had some good spots also with Goldust being the stand out between the two.The next month is simply about building up the Ascension in time for Wrestlemania or just after Wrestlemania and the win last night was really important in contributing to that. We really are starting to see much more of them in the ring. Also, a quick thank you to Byron Saxton for actually being a heel commentator and putting over the heel tag team properly.

Daniel Bryan VS Kane (Casket Match)
Finally, it was the main event and Daniel Bryan was set to take on Kane in Casket match. It was nice seeing a Casket match, considering we haven't seen one in a while, admittedly their not my favourite matches, I think they worked all those years back but not so much any more, but their still still entertaining and it made a good main event. Out of all the past thew matches we have gotten from Bryan VS Kane, this has to be the top one. It had pretty much everything you could ask for. The length was what really made this match great. This was a much longer main event than what we usually get on Smackdown and it allowed them to put on a great match. Bryan of course scored the win.
