Debut of the year: Paige

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World. It's December and as you all already know, throughout the month I will be giving you my official top five and top ten's of the year (and one top twenty) kinda like my wrestling awards of the year. Consider it my very own version of the Slammys. I have already done a chunk of these post and I will leave the links to all of those bellow so you can go and check those out if you haven't already done so. You can also let me know who you're superstar AND diva of the year is and also what else you would like to see in this series by of course leaving a comment bellow in the comments section or by dropping me a tweet at @TezangiVictoria.

It's time to have a look at who has been placed number one as my debut of the year, and as you can already tell from the title and picture, this year by debut of the year comes from Paige. I know their will probably be a big chunk of you who will disagree but I need you to know this does not include NXT debuts such as Finn Balor, this post is only being judged on who has debuted on the main roster this year so far from the moment I am writing this, bare in mind this post has been pre-done. I would still love to know who you think had the debut of the year so feel free to leave a comment bellow letting me know or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.

On April seventh, the night after Wrestlemania, the anti diva Paige made her much anticipated WWE main roster debut and what a debut it was. If you were not an NXT viewer than you would of probably had no idea who she was and why she was getting such a huge reaction from the crow. If you haven't already seen her NXT work than I seriously advise you to go check them out, I will leave a little note bellow listing some of my favourite matches of hers from the developmental territory. For well over a year the WWE universe and the NXT universe questioned when her main roster debut would roll around and wondered why it was taking so long, growing very impatient. This of course was including myself. It was clear she was a strong, confident talent more than ready to make her way up to the main roster and join the main roster divas division. She had proved herself time and time again in several singles and tag team matches/competition. She had developed a strong following and a passionate fan base. Every match she was in she got an insane reaction from the crowd and would have them cheering her on right to the end.
Paige had achieved so much in her time in NXT, allowing her to grow in popularity with the fans and the WWE itself. It was evident the company  were big on her and had a lot planned for her. She became the first ever NXT women's champion last year and held the title for almost a year. She was put in some of the biggest Storyline's in NXT history and the company pushed her more than any other diva on the roster. Her anti diva gimmick went down a treat with the fans. She was different, nothing like the other divas in the WWE and the fans liked that, and of course witch other diva was different to the rest? AJ Lee, and of course that would spring to the mind of the WWE and NXT fans and everyone wanted to see the two girls go one on one and be feud. For over a year everyone started wishing for a bi storyline between the WWE's two most popular and different divas on the roster. They both had a huge following and fan base and so everyone wanted these two to meet in the ring and the WWE kept us waiting quite some time.

On the seventh of April, the night after Wrestlemania, Paige made her much anticipated WWE main roster debut. The debut was a complete shock and she got one heck of a reaction from what was already a wild crowd. On the night AJ Lee would hit the mic and start boasting and claiming to be the best diva on the roster and highlighted the fact she is the WWE divas division. This was of course the night after she had walked into Wrestlemania as the first diva to defend the divas championship at the pay per view and after being forced to defend the championship to the whole WWE diva roster she still managed to walk out the divas champion. After saying "I am you're divas division" a new theme would hit and the anti diva Paige made her way out to face a wild crowd and come face to face with the longest reining divas champion herself, AJ Lee. As I already mentioned, she got an insane reaction from the crowd and to be honest I marked the fuck out. Not only was Paige making her official WWE debut, but she was coming out to confront AJ Lee. The diva the whole WWE and NXT universe wanted her to feud with on the main roster. Rocking her purple attire and already appearing different with her rock entrance theme and Gothic look, Paige got everyone talking straight away, especially the people who didn't know about her. After spending her time in FCW and NXT, the anti diva had finally made her mark on the main roster.
Once in the ring, she would of course hit the mic and strangely declared she was out here to congratulate AJ on her successful title defence the previous night at Wrestlemania. There was  little shock from the crowd, mainly because it was pretty out of character and they were expecting to have her firery personality giving AJ a little taste of her own medicine. But the kind gesture didn't go down well with the champ and after slapping her in the fact, AJ ordered a match against the two right then and there and that the match would be for the divas championship. This sent the entire crowd and everyone twitter to loose their shit and a "this is awesome" chant echoed through the arena, witch in itself is an achievement. After AJ dominating the match, thing's were not looking great for the young, upcoming star. However out of nowhere she hit the Paige turner and got the one two three. In that moment Paige became the youngest divas champion in history at only twenty one.  She got another crazy reaction from the crowd and she had more than deserved the title. There of course was a lot people who were not so happy about Paige wining the championship, mainly people who didn't know of her and strong AJ fans, but of course I was over the moon.

So the anti diva had arrived on the main roster and in a truly epic way. There was no one else who could of got this debut of the year award/post. After waiting for her to debut on RAW for so long an then finally having her arrive and not only have a match with AJ Lee but capture the championship too on the night after Wrestlemania, Paige hands down had the debut of the year.
