This past Monday on RAW the WWE announced that at the TLC pay per view this Sunday, Rusev will defend he's united States championship against the real American, Jack Swagger. The two superstars have already collided this year in a hot feud witch saw Rusev standing tall. Since then many other superstars on the roster have tired and failed to defeat the great Russian and after winning the United States championship off of Sheamus around two months back, Rusev has climbed to victory on several occasions. But will the gold still wrapped around the waist of the upcoming, controversial star? Or will Swagger make he's way up the roster, getting the push he deserves and the United States championship back on a real American?

The past year has been a hugely successful one for upcoming star Rusev. After spending some time developing he's character and move set down in NXT it was clear the WWE had some interesting ideas for him and took a risk with the controversial gimmick and storyline's. He's first appearance on the main roster back in January at the Royal Rumble pay per view is one not to be forgotten. He may not have been in the match for a long time but while he was in there he look control and dominated the entire thing, leaving a mini army of superstars coming together to eliminate him. When he made he's official debut on the main roster it was evident that the choices WWE were making on him were a risk, especially with the mic work from Lana. They spent a good thew months building Rusev up, having him compete in squash match after squash match and putting him in mini feuds with a handful of superstars to boost he's popularity and give him the debut push he needed. Despite all the attention they were giving him it took Ruse quite some time to create a connection with the fans. He spent months simply being boring and stale and it was clear that without Lana, Rusev would not have been as popular as he was both with the WWE universe and the WWE itself. The tuning point for Rusev was when he began feuding with real American, Jack Swagger. This was when the excitement would really begin and he would start to really show what he could do in the ring and how much diversity he has. After coming up on top from that he then had several other big wins (quite literally) when he
feuded with Big show and Mark Henry. From that he went on to win the United States championship from Sheamus and in the re-match for the title, Rusev had he's best performance to date. It's also important to mention he also main evented the Survivor Series pay per view last month, where h had an amazing performance. The WWE were careful not to destroy he's winning streak on the night and was eliminated in the best possible way for both the match and Rusev.

As for Swagger, this has been a very interesting year to say the least. Everyone know's how much of a fan I am of Swaggers, I have been from the moment he arrived in the WWE and he did have a good start. I think a lot of people forget just how talent Swagger is and what he has accomplished over the years. He's a former World Heavyweight champion, a money in the bank winner and he's feuded with top guys in the company including Randy Orton. It's a big shame that the WWE continue to focus on guy's like Roman Reigns who are still at the very start of their career while superstars like Swagger who have been working for the company for years fail to get the recognition they deserve. Throughout the past twelve months Swagger has had a handful of strong matches and performances. One on one matches against Seth Rollins and he's Money in the bank performance spring to mind. However the WWE have once again failed Swagger and this Sunday is their last chance to end the year on a high for him. He's previous feud with Rusev was a big push back and really put a strain on he's career .

Having two superstars work a feud twice in one year with the same storyline never really works, and I don't see that changing for these two. The Swagger/Rusev feud was made such a big deal earlier on in the year that it's almost impossible to get into it a second time round, especially so close together. The feud before was not as strong as it should of been and I knew from then it was the wrong timing. What the WWE seem to clearly forget is that timing is key. What they should of done was waited for either Swagger or Rusev to hold the United States championship first before they ever stepped in the ring together. If they saved this feud until now, it could of been a huge hit and could of set Rusev in particular up for a big big year, now, things are not looking so bright for the young star. The build up to their match has been weak but then again they couldn't do much because they have done it all already. Momentum is defiantly on the side of Jack Swagger after he's attack on Rusev this past Monday. Personally I think this match is a no brainer. Swagger MUST win this match. There's no questions about it, Swagger must become the United States champion this Sunday at TLC. Yes, the build up has been weak witch just suggest that the title will not be changing hands and there is the fact Rusev has not held the title long, but if Swagger looses this this Sunday then there is no going back for him. There will literally be nothing for him what so ever and bouncing back from this would be close to impossible. This match needs to be pretty lengthy to be a success and if Swagger does win this will set up a pretty big year for him. As for Rusev, a loss will be bad for him and it would be a sign of a poor year to come, but with so much at steak for Swagger I have to side with him.

WHO I WANT TO WIN- Jack Swagger
WHO I THINK WILL WIN- Rusev
