Heel Of The Year: Stephanie McMahon & Triple H

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World. So It's finally December, the end of the year and time for my official top five, tens and even twenties of the year including Superstars, divas, matches, debuts and more; kind of like my own little version of the slammys. Today I'm going to be taking a look at the heel of the year. Now I do plan on doing a a part two of this post because when I was doing my notes for this part of the series I realised I was stuck between the two I have put up today and another WWE superstar. So let me know if you would like to see that as well. You can also let me know who you think is the heel of the year and what else you would like to see in the series by leaving a comment bellow in the comments section or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria. I will also leave the links bellow to any recent posts or anything that relates to today's post bellow so you can have a read of those if you haven't already done so.

Today I am taking a look at the heel or in this case heels of the year. Personally I think it's been a real difficult year for the bad guys and girls of the WWE. The company has had some huge baby faces come and go that have been extremely over with the fans, including the likes of Roman Reigns, Daniel Bryan and Dean Ambrose, making it really hard for the core heels to have a good year. However there has been some to really rise to the top and take the WWE by storm just as much as the baby faces. Names like Brock Lesnar, Seth Rollins and Bray Wyatt spring to mind when talking about some of the top heels of the company. All men that have had a truly epic year with amazing matches (some of the best of the year in fact) and had some great moments. However with all the awesome heels around there has only been two that have stood out the most. Two true villains that have took taken over, they are of course Stephanie McMahon and Triple H.

Going back in history a little, both Stephanie and Hunter have proven to be two of the biggest, best heels in sports entrainment. Their storyline's together have been more than memorable and they share some of the greats moments the company has seen. The pare have truly defined what a heel is and what it takes to be the best villain in their industry. With history on their side you would think that they could not get any better. That they couldn't show us anything we haven't already seen, but in this year they topped themselves once again and have proved for another year they truly are two of the greats heel of out generation.
Both Stephanie and Triple H both entered the new year as heels and after an epic previous year of playing the bad guys, we had to expect some new, stronger work from them and trust me they did not disappoint what so ever, witch I'm sure you can agree on. Over the year's it become evident that the pair have improved year after year and in two thousand and fourteen the two showed that they have both grown so much in their characters especially Stephanie who has shown to have developed so much more confidence on the mic and in her character and it has been great watching her week after week alongside her husband. Opening nearly every episode of RAW, participating in weekly interviews for WWE.com and being apart of their own feuds that helped push their individual careers.

This year alone the two have been apart of some of the biggest storyline's in the company and although we may have moaned a lot about the Authority and the idea but business wise it has been a great move and for the careers of both Triple H and Stephanie McMahon it has been a serious blessing. The creation of the Authority (witch we saw the birth of last year) has opened so many creative doors for the two and has enabled them to grow in their characters, push them as heels, and make them come across in the most villainous of ways. As the two biggest heels in the company, they found themselves involved in major storyline's that would change their careers for the better.

One of the biggest storyline's of the year came from the Daniel Bryan/ Authority angle. It was hands down one the most effective, major, important storyline's of the year that captivated the entire WWE universe. The passion and drive behind it was insane, and went down a treat with the fans. Now every amazing baby face and every amazing storyline needs and amazing heel. This one had all three, and the heel part was perfection. Let's be honest, I have said some pretty harsh things about Hunter this storyline altogether over the course of it's run but one thing was far from questionable, and that was that both Triple H and Stephanie McMahon owned this feud and really did make it that much better. Without BOTH their contributions this storyline would not have been as successful. Yes, Daniel Bryan was competing for WWE World Heavyweight championship witch effectively was around the waist of Randy Orton, however it was the work between Bryan and Hunter that truly made this storyline. He's mic work was off the chart and the character development was insane. He knew
exactly how to keep us watching, how to keep us talking how to push both the storyline and Daniel Bryan on a weekly basis. The exact same can be said for Stephanie. Every single week she kept herself in the feud and worked the mic better than any other women on the roster. She had passion in her promos, she knew what she was talking about and how to twist things around, really getting under the ski of the WWE universe.
This year Triple H stepped in the ring three times this year in two huge feuds, arguably the two biggest feuds of the year, and in both he worked as a top heel. The first of course I have already mentioned, witch was the Daniel Bryan angle. This is when the Game would first step back in the ring competing against Bryan at the biggest stage of them all and the biggest pay per view of the year, Wrestlemania. Now although Hunter didn't win he's performance was off the charts and many are calling this one of the best matches of the year and I would not argue what so ever. He stayed in control as a heel throughout the match and it was the added little extras that really further pushed him as the bad guy; and what other way to prove yourself to be the biggest heel around than to step in the ring at the biggest event of the year with the most over, the fan favourite, the peoples champion, the biggest baby face around. The next time we would see the king of kings step foot in the ring was ring the feud with the Shield. This year the ultimate heel faction was brought together and we would witness another huge storyline, this time between the new guns The Shield and veterans Evolution. This feud was truly amazing and once again Triple H's heel work was on point. From the mic work to the actual wrestling work.

As for Stephanie she has involved herself in pretty much every major storyline going this year. She has been at the fore front of every major move and decision made. She has been on our screens pretty much every single week, opening and closing Monday night RAW. Her mic work is something that has not gone unnoticed what so ever. This year we have really seen the boss come into her own. her confidence on the mic has gone through the roof and she has developed as a character and as a stronger villain every single week. Her work with the Kane/Daniel Bryan storyline was a strong turning point in her career and promised great things for her for the rest of the year. She knew exactly how to get under the skin of the WWE universe and at the same time keep us watching and wanting to see more; coming back week after week. Her biggest work of the year has to be her storyline with Brie Bella. This is when Stephanie truly began to shine that much more. Now I'm not the biggest Stephanie McMahon fan but I will be the first to admit she owned this feud and was the one keeping it alive. Her mic work was outstanding and the character she gave was out of this world. It was like she was improving and showing us more and more every single week, every single time we saw her
on our screens. The build up to her Summer Slam match up with Brie Bella was done perfectly and she came across as the best WWE female heel around in not just 214 but in many years, once again. It was a bonus having her actually defeat Brie and the style in witch she did it.

This year Stephanie McMahon and Triple H have more than earned the right to be called the heels of the year. Their mic work, their wrestling, the manipulation of Nikki Bella and Seth Rollins was perfect and contributed greatly to the reasons why they are the heel of the year.

But I want to know who YOU think is the heel of the year. Leave a comment bellow letting me or tweet me at @TezangiVictoria.
