Roman Reigns must show improvements upon WWE return
In late 2012, one of the most successful groups in recent years in the WWE was born. A faction made up with the first NXT champion Seth Rollins, the man with the hardcore background, the lunatic fringe Dean Ambrose and the Samoan sensation, Roman Reigns. The group very quickly grew in popularity and individually reached success with Ambrose picking up the United States championship and Rollins and Reigns scoring the tag team championships. All three superstars had started to shine for their own talents, with Ambrose being not only the strongest speaker of faction but one of the strongest speakers on the roster, Reigns weak mic skills we're highlighted dramatically. It became evident that he was the weakest speaker and clearly not comfortable on the mic, needing serious improvement. As for wrestling, both Ambrose and Rollins had bags more experience, after working for several independent promotions and that really did show; although Reigns had some impressive moves he lacked the being able to pull of basic moves, was unable to sell well, and had a limited move set; and when you're standing next to someone like Seth Rollins who has an endless move set of crazy, impressive moves, it doesn't look good. All that being said, Roman comes from a strong Samoan background, he has a great body (not too big or too small) and dashing looks, the WWE have not made it unknown that they are extremely high on him, putting him in big matches and feuds and having him have the most success while apart of the Shield. However the WWE universe we're quick to express that Roman Reigns was clearly to ready to be a main event star. With lack of experience, poor mic skills and a limited move set this young star was far from ready to take centre stage in one of sports entrainments biggest promotions.
A thew months back, on the day before the Night Of Champions PPV it was announced by WWE that Roman Reigns would have to undergo emergency surgery and he would be out of action for several months recovering. Now I have been saying this from the get go that this may just be a blessing in disguise. It is clearly a serious serious injury and it's a shame it has happened at such a high point of the young stars career, but this has really helped not just Reigns but other up coming stars. It has allowed talents like Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose to really be thrown into the spotlight and given the main event spaces they may not have gotten with Reigns around. It has also given Reigns the time to really work on him and he's character and the areas he needs to work on. The simple fact he is going to be out for so long means he has no excuse to come back at the same level and I personally am expecting him to come back better than ever.
I mentioned in a previous post, witch I will leave the links too bellow, that I think Reigns seriously needs to do some character building. With huge characters in the WWE such as Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt, Reigns sticks out for all the wrong reasons when it comes to character and it's something I really hope he has worked on while he has been out of action. It has been said that he is taking acting classes witch, to be honest he really needs. He needs work on finding out exactly who Roman Reigns is and what he is all about. A strong character is vital when it comes to being a main event star and connecting with the fans.
With the WWE putting so much pressure on Reigns to be a main event star he really needs to deliver upon he's return. If he comes back working at the same level he did when he left he will struggle big time in the next year regardless of what they do with him storyline wise.He needs to prove to the harsh WWE universe that he is worth the hype and that the WWE we're right in pushing him as a top star. We must see an improvement in he's mic work and all round performance level, I say it all the time but having a good body doesn't make you a great wrestler or performer. He must be able to connect with the fans on a more personal level in order to have a more promising career, there's man other superstars on the roster that really know how to get under the skin of the viewers and get real personal with them, superstars like Seth Rollins for example. If we do see improvements than he should have no worries. He already has a strong following and with a lack of strong baby faces around this could be he's real, big time to shine.
Also, while Reigns has been out of action stars such as Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins have manage to steal every single show and have climbed right to the top with Ambrose coming out as one of (if not the) the biggest baby face's in the company at the moment. Living up to the high high standards of Ambrose is going to be a hard job. Dean has connected with the fans on a personal level that Reigns I think will struggle to achieve. And with the crazy move sets of both he's fellow team mates Reigns is going to have to pull out a lot of new strong moves in order to once again prove he is the perfect man to be the future face of the company. We need to see originality, something that separates him from the rest of the baby faces.When Roman Reigns returns to action one thing is certain, he will be get one heck of a push! There is so much they can do him creatively , but it will all go down the sink if the fails to show improvements.
